Lips sealed Ah, just placed my order for the 580 .... got it at identical price to 480

From what ive seen on YouTube (Russian videos) the 580 Pulse was up at 29/30mh/s with no mention of a custom bios
To get most out of the card would probably need someone to share a custom bios - not sure about bricking it because it has dual bios I think

I like the 480s over 470s for dual mining and resale 8GB

If I were building a new rig right now I would go with the RX 470/570.  I have 3 rigs right now..  All are stock cards with no bios adjustment.  (Scared to death to brick a card)

Rig 1
5x Powercolor 480 8gb Red Devils (ETH) 123 Mh/s    895 W at the wall

Rig 2
5x MSI RX 470 Armor (2x 8Gb 3x 4Gb) (ETH) 125 Mh/s 660 W at the wall

Rig 3
5x MSI RX 470 Armor 8Gb (ETH) 125 Mh/s 640 W at the wall

The X70 series just seem to use way less W and are running strong!

Rig 1 uses 235 W more than the other two rigs... At 0.1 KW/h that is just under $17.00 US per month that I am losing out on because of the electric on that rig compared to the RX 470 rigs and I am getting less Mh/s.  I have been tempted to toss them on Ebay and buy more RX 470's for that rig.

Emoclaw,

Thoughts on 4GB or 8GB version of the 580?

Get an RX 580 instead: https://www.scan.co.uk/products/8gb-sapphire-radeon-rx-580-pulse-14nm-polaris-2304-streams-1366mhz-gpu-8000mhz-gddr5-2xdp-2xhdmi-dvi
Reason: Newer, higher default clocks and potential for more undervolting, cheaper than the 8GB RX 480 you posted and has much better resale value.

you can get the  27-30mh/s with custom modded bios , and fine tune
you can expect 24-24.5MH/s without custom modded bios with any rx 480 cards on stock setings

I'm upgrading my mining cards and swapping out from nvidia to AMD. I'm familiar with NVIDIA branding of performance on the cards e.g Ti , Founders Editions etc

What variant of AMD RX 480 would you recommend?
Really much difference in 4GB or 8GB?
Running the 480 on x4 PCI going to cause a performance issue? it hasn't with my NVIDIA cards.

I'm looking at getting a few of these and I heard 27-30mhash for Eth is what to expect

Or
