The third position is a classical position for dogecoin. I remember there was a time, which I have with myself full of nostalgia, when bitcoin was considered the gold (first position), litecoin silver (second position) and dogecoin bronze (third position).

That is good for american cancer society, which is collecting more funds in crypto, they probably wouldn't if allowing to receive only fiat donations.

This is proof that crypto can also do positive things, well the dogecoin community always care about others, many of them are not even rich people but they always give to the right people or institutions. I believe they are good people and there is even a fundraiser for conflict areas too, I checking the address this month there are still many donations and the total received is more than 966K DOGE. https://www.coindesk.com/markets/2022/03/02/ukraine-expands-crypto-donations-to-accept-dogecoin/

American Cancer Society, a voluntary health organization that is focused on eliminating cancer, has revealed that Dogecoin is its third most donated cryptocurrency. The most popular meme coin accounts for 4% of all contributions received by the ACS. America’s largest non-governmental funder of cancer research started accepting Dogecoin donations back in May 2021. The organization makes it possible to make donations with a slew of different cryptocurrencies, including Dogecoin rival Shiba Inu, with the help of The Giving Block, a popular cryptocurrency donation solution.      Last year, the ACS launched its Cancer Crypto Fund campaign in order to raise $1 million for advancing cancer research. The goal was eventually met earlier this year. The organization says that crypto philanthropy is already having a “real impact.”

Well i think it is great that cryptocurrency is not only used in order to try to make quick and huge profits, but sometimes it is also used to do something good like in this case helping to fight cancer through donations. That being said i think the news it self is not that big of a deal for Dogecoin to be honest because it says "that Dogecoin is the third most donated cryptocurrency". I don't have the exact numbers but i would guess that more than 90% of the donations to the cancer society are made via FIAT and less than 10% of are made via cryptocurrencies and from that 10% Dogecoin is "only" the third most donated currency.

The truth about crypto enthusiasts, this is what they are looking for, and it is an actual use of the encrypted currency, so I think that the plan to adopt the crypto-accreditation by charitable organizations will be an important addition to help people in need around the world. I also think fundraising will contribute to the growth of low-fee altcoins like dogecoin and TRX.

Dogecoin people have traditionally been very generous -- its one of the qualities that sets their community apart from most others. Plus, it is so cheap to transact, makes it really easy to donate.

A few early projects which helped cement this reputation among the community include:

Donating to Jamaican Olympic bobsled team:

Doge4water - DOGE donations to build wells in Africa:

... Doge has never represented signs of anything other than a meme coin. The two main reasons I could think of are the popularity it gained in the US when famous businessmen like Elon Musk or Mark Cuban started buying or accepting it as payment option AND the faster confirmation that comes with cheap fee.

I do agree with this one although doge already famous before the Elon musk start to buying it but after that, it's getting more popular. anyway  I like the charity like this one happen in all over the place start accepting crypto make open to allborder so is good

well to an important place i hope they know that altcoins are very dangerous, and can increase in value a lot overnight and can also drop to 0$ in a few moments, so I recommend them to be cautious with altcoins, maybe it's because This is why they convert to USD, unfortunately this altcoin market is no longer reliable (it was not very reliable but today it is worse than in the past).

....The preference to using Dogecoin, IMO could be a way to show some sign of love in the charity act. There could be other reasons, but I think it simply reflects how the donor feels.

As strange as it sounds, these guys who love doge are really for love rather than other benefits. I don't know what you see in this altcoin, in the past I used it because of low fees but I stopped using it because of pump and  dump frequent

Dogecoin is still fast and transaction is still low.
one advantage of doge is that they can be found in most top exchanges. so it is easy to send or receive this coin.
also, consider that if a person is holding doge and btc, i believe, most of them would want to donate their doge rather than btc. just a thought here.

For those people who keep their cryptocurrency on an exchange, they surely will find that Doge withdrawal is cheaper than bitcoin.

and if the charity decides to cash out, they can easily convert it to their fiat as well.
All donations are immediately converted to USD.

To us, all direct cryptocurrency donations through The Giving Block are functionally the same since they're all converted to USD immediately and put to use in our mission sooner.

I agree its the donor's preference if he has a bag of Dogecoin and he has a good heart why not Doge, or maybe they have a community where they launch a donation campaign for the American Cancer Society, Dogecoin has one of the most stable community here in Bitcointalk and they just need a big pump coming from big personalities to get the hype they deserve and Dogecoin is still fast and transaction is still low.

I think this development opens more door to the cryptocurrency growth, it proves the importance of cryptocurrency in carrying out transactions across borders. It also eliminates third parties like banks which may interfere, delay, tamper/reduce the amount meant for the recipient (in this case, American Cancer Society). So long as the correct wallet address is displayed on the recipients website, to avoid sending to wrong address. Cryptocurrency will obviously have many use cases in the future, this is just the beginning.

The preference to using Dogecoin, IMO could be a way to show some sign of love in the charity act. There could be other reasons, but I think it simply reflects how the donor feels.
