I have a bunch of coins that I’d like to have graded at some point. What are the costs and benefits of ANACS and ICG? Does ANACS offer a same-day in person service like ICG? I wouldn’t be comfortable having my coins in their possession for more than a day or two.
yes, they have their walk in service to grade a coin in less than 1 hr. although contact them to make such appointment, don’t just show up

I am traveling to Colorado this month and recently spoke with ANACS about the walk-in service. I would like to get some of my higher value coins graded and do not want to send them by mail. ANACS quoted me $100 per coin.

The other option, which I will likely need to figure out since there is no way I am spending $100 per coin, is to drop off items in-person and then pick them up in-person 15+ days later.

I have not called IGC about this since I am not traveling to FLorida, but maybe they have a more accessible price.

Here's the thing. People here want to make you think it's a difficult thing, so they can grade them for you and charge you etc... Roll Eyes

Here's the "guide" everyone - Literally my first ever submission to anacs - Reckon the form has changed, but you get the idea... Roll Eyes

The edited out stuff is either first bits on the coin or otherwise identifying info that doesn't need to be included etc...

Have fun! Anacs does suck btw - They held about 100 of my coins back when they changed the slab color to green for over 5 months - Paul DeFelice is a fuckin idiot too.

I once sent back a MS69 Kialara error coin for reholder, and some dumb fuck there dropped it on the floor and put a big fuckin ding on it. I actually auctioned it off here.... Roll Eyes

Fuckin idiots...

ICG is indeed a bit better, however, they have issues as well. For example, I once got Charlie Lee's coin grades in my email "by accident" since someone fucked up the customer number or something... That being said, don't trust them too much - There is a prominent forum member here (Roll Eyes)who sees all the crypto submissions as well, so don't ever think stuff you send there is totally "private" Roll Eyes

Edit - Initial "Anacs Form" credit actually goes to @Blazed for posting the form I simply copied off of... Tongue

It's amazing what an email or phone call to the company can do.... they can provide you with all sorts of information about their services

Says the guy who I taught how to send coins in for grading at ANACS. Roll Eyes ... Man, your head has certainly gotten fucking huge there buddy! Thanks for the laugh! Cheesy

Edit - Actually, you used to send them to me for grading, till you finally smartened up and took your own advice above I guess.... Tongue

oh yah, I agree.  No reason to slab an ungraded coin.

Sorry, but this is the dumbest thing said in this thread.  Even if it's not graded, the slab is protection and another layer of security if the coin is loaded. Roll Eyes

A slab is the ultimate protection in a pretty display case that would fit in your slab box nice and neat vs having a loose coin.  Coin capsules are good, but they don't normally provide 100% air tight protection in my experience and I only buy the very high end capsules.

And if they will grade other crypto coins, that makes no sense they wouldn't grade that one.

Wait what happened?  ICG slabbed a fake CI MegaDoge?

No, they just didn't grade the coin. Which personally I think there's nothing wrong with unless I'm missing something.  In most cases that won't be a positive for the coin owner.  Likely to get a similar premium for a lower grade and guaranteed to get a lesser premium for something that would have graded higher up.

Maybe I am missing something but how is this right?  Doesn't seem like one got what they paid for- grading.  Then why slab it and not grade it; why not return it to the owner unslabbed if ungraded?  So in essence, GP paid for a slabbing service?

My primary question is ANACS vs ICG, which a phone call to ANACS will not accomplish. Appreciate the sarcasm, though.  Wink

Most collectors on here seem to prefer ICG. I personally prefer ANACS because they grade all coins. What really put me off with ICG is the 1 Million CI Doge coin by GP that was just slabbed as genuine. I'm starting to think it's not just plastic satori's that are not being graded anymore but actual minted coins as well.

I've been considering on writing a step by step guide to grading coins through ANACS. Please comment if you would like to see that and if you have any suggestions. Thanks!

Thank goodness they don't have a guide for this....

I was thinking of a more thorough guide with pictures of my actual experience. If the ANACS submission Form is comprehensive enough to most members on this forum then its good enough and I wont make a guide.

i always prefer anacs to icg, but that is my personal perception and i find the design much more successful Cheesy
in any case i would appreciate such a grading guide very much👍

I don’t love either, but really dislike ANACS. NGC has the best slabs of course but those dinosaurs don’t like us. Convo my buddy had with the head of NGC who’s a buddy of his ..Hey why won’t you guys grade crypto coins? “We don’t grade fake coins”  You guys grade Big Mac coins “Those coins are excellent quality” lol.

It sure can’t hurt. However, as with most coin collectors, ANACS is not anyone’s favorite. Many of us collectors here have moved to ICG grading. They approached us first if I’m not mistaken and have been incredibly involved/accommodating etc when it comes to grading our coins. This is not to say you shouldn’t do the write up..I think that would be very helpful.
