But anyway, the paradox that these people never want to face is that if mankind can not be trusted to govern themselves, then why should a select group of men be trusted to govern everyone else?

I finally understand that saying, "The blind leading the blind" Tongue

I don't know how people get off painting anarchy as some sort of utopian vision requiring a perfect man.

Anarchy is simply coming to the realization that no centralized system has the knowledge or technology capable of accurately determining the correct decision makers for all particular fields of study or geographical locations.

The best that Technocrats could do is best facilitate the allocation of resources toward some predetermined heuristics, but since people have arbitrary preferences, the Technocrats inevitably end up supporting the will of a select few oligarchs over the desires of anyone else.

Therefore, the only rational thing to do is to let people, freely exchanging among themselves, determine how resources are allocated. Sweeping general needs will be met, but more beautifully, small niche fields are developed to cater to the desires of minorities, something that you will never see in any form of governing other than anarchy.

But anyway, the paradox that these people never want to face is that if mankind can not be trusted to govern themselves, then why should a select group of men be trusted to govern everyone else?

Humanity is not a civilized species. It is numerous rabid packs of wild primates who happen to be able to build tools and speak eloquently. In times of conflict, they resort to a pecking order, a pack -- just like wolves and many other mammals.

Humans are mostly socially simplistic. They usually focus on and live for social status and mating. The adventurous who are driven to profit through innovation and higher purpose either make their way to the top of the pack, or are shunned by those above them and by the collective whom follows.

This species is a volatile experiment. It is heavily monitored and looked upon and rightly quarantined from the rest of the galactic community. In fact, it is an outright miracle you guys haven't blown yourself up like the Maldek and the people of Mars, the former is the oblivion known as the Asteroid belt. This entire solar system has had numerous failures of this kind.

You guys are doing much better. However, it is foreseen that the next 300 years don't have much hope. This planet will likely no longer suit your kind. It was lovely while it lasted.

And right there is where the crazy started.

We live in a time period where we have access to any sort of knowledge within seconds at any point in time, almost anywhere there's a large number of people living.

And then we use it to look at cats Tongue

Ancient Egypt would be proud.

Cheesy

The more things change, the more they stay the same...  Undecided

I couldn't agree more with the OP. Technology has evolved, humanity has not.

The thing is, we have the internet in our pocket now.

The internet.

In our fucking pocket.

So your argument is moot.
Explain how is it our pocket. You didn't provide any argument so your answer is moot.

Civilised?! You do know what Anarchy is right? Civilisation as we've known it for centuries is for Kings and Bureaucrats Tongue

That's a good point. Civil comes from Citizen and means "a native or naturalized member of a state or nation who owes allegiance to its government and is entitled to its protection ( distinguished from alien )."

the good news is we dont need the whole world to be libertarians to have a libertarian society. all we need is for a couple hundred thousand of us to move to the same place.
Guess that's a plus.

Could I use this as a base for a new, bestselling novel?  When it's done I'll post on this topic.

This entire solar system has had numerous failures of this kind.

So what's it about this solar system then?  Huh

Is it in the air... er... I mean... the light spectrum or something?
Genetics and evolution will one day be proven to be far more complex of a system than what is known today. There are planetary factors, solar factors and even galactic factors that have a say in the formation of life in many different ways. Our Sun and its respective effects on the formation of life leads to a sentience such as ours. As many have theorized, physics begins to differ from galaxy to galaxy. Stars have a lot to do with that, in realms of energy that we haven't even begun to touch.

It is because humans are greedy/'seek reward' and avoid pain/work that anarchy/libertarianism is the most productive system for humans.

I am fine with communists' belief that if we simply change humans to not seek reward (be greedy) and humans are ok with pain (work) then their system will work. In theory it could be true.

But I disagree that human nature can be changed.

Communists trying to change human nature to make economics work is like Victorians trying to change human nature to make their moral view of sex work.
