This isn't used for him to get any more donations then he would get by credit card, or any other medium that is currently used.
Bitcoin itself (or an altcoin) would (in my view) bring in more donations. The LN isn't there in terms of adoption to allow for 'the masses' (even in the crypto space) to use it correctly.
