Is this still open?

Yes, definitely. Will be getting more detail out to developers this weekend. Do you have apps made that you can link to or let me know what your skill set is.

Thanks.

Hmmh...I played a bit with javascript and html 5:

Might work to integrate it into a phonegap html page. Never tried it though. But since today phones became a lot faster, js gaming might work good now?

On my (slow) Ideos x3, my little btc-e test app runs just fine. The javascript might not be perfect for high-performance computing, but if you just want to display some data, it's perfect in my eyes...

It's not just for 'displaying data', it's for interactive games, with hopefully smooth response and animation.

Does the Android app need to be developed in a specific language or tool?  Specifically, would it be alright if it were developed using Adobe AIR with Stage3D?  The end result would still be an APK file like any other.

I have honestly never heard of these or of phonegap.

I have limited knowledge of Android development, and the only time I've ever written a hello world application, it was written in Java using Eclipse. That was more than a year ago and I don't have it installed anymore. I suppose that would be my #1 preference but I wouldn't say no to other methods if the dev can do quality work.

This quote from Wikipedia makes me a bit wary:

However, the use of web-based technologies leads many PhoneGap applications to run slower than native applications with similar functionality. Adobe Systems warns that applications built using PhoneGap may be rejected by Apple for being too slow or not feeling "native" enough (having appearance and functionality consistent with what users have come to expect on the platform).

Anyway, will send you both some PMs soon.

Thanks.

If it's simple web-based android app, phonegap might be suitable for the task?

It started some simple btc-e app in phonegap, and it was an easy task so far...

I'm currently looking for someone to write an Android app, which will feature:

Client/Server communication
User login or some system to permanently link your app to a web-based account.
Some fairly simple graphics

If you think you might be suitable for this work,  please get in touch.

Note: The server has not yet been written either, so you will work alongside other developers (possibly me) who are doing the server-side code while you do the app side of things.
