I recommend using Wasabi wallet which uses Tor by default. Check it out if it meets your expectations.

Curious to know why proxy settings have user name and password option when tor works with those fields empty.

That username and password are for the Socks5 proxy because they support authentication. If you have bought a dedicated Socks5 proxy you can enable authentication with a username and password it generated a user and password that can be used on Electrum.

You can just leave it empty since you already made it work through TOR.

No idea why they are for but as long as we have others things are working perfectly, I think let's ignore the rest. May be there will be some information about it on Electrum domination. I am not much interested to spend time there.

Download orbot.
Install it
Open it
Add Electrum on the app list.
Turn on the Orbot

Now, open Electrum. It should bridged with Electrum.

The connection it will use, will be the connection from Orbot (TOR)

Update: You need to set the following

Enable Proxy
SOCKSS/TOR
Address: 127.0.0.1
Port 9050

Press Ok

The network indicator will turn Blue which means TOR is enabled.

Thank you.  Worked great.  Blue circle now.  Smiley  It's Orbot not Orbit.
It's Orbot LOL, fixed it.
When you are enabling proxry with SOCKSS/TOR, you are telling the system to receive connection from TOR but if your TOR is not active in the background then it fails to receive connection.

Earlier you did not have TOR active in the background that's why after doing everything else correctly, it was still showing Red indicator because it was not receiving connection from TOR.

When the indicator is Green while your TOR is active and TOR have Electrum in it's app list, I think it still use the connection from TOR. But since the Proxy is not enabled, the Electrum thinks it's your regular connection.

On mobile device, TOR means you need Orbot.

All these are my understanding of how the system works.

At the top right corner, it would appear in green if Tor is not enabled (left image). If Tor is enabled, it would be in blue (right image).

It would be in red if not connected at all. Because you set it to use Tor, if you connect with just IP connection, it will not connect and red will appear.

I installed Electrum v4.4.5.0 on Android.  Went into network and enabled proxy settings so I could use Tor network.

I left settings as default which are

SOCKS5/TOR
127.0.0.1
9050

The round light remains red.

Username and password are no set.  Do I have to register somewhere?
