To be honest, when it comes to launcher I didn't use them in a while, but I didn't use them there were some launcher with limitations, but most didn't have the "free to use" format, I used to install different roms and even other OS on my devices before I had PDAs and XDA was a heaven for me, in 2009 I brought the HTC HD2 and in the time I owned this dev classic, I installed everything possible and imaginable on it, Now I rock an HTC One, I don't feel like rooting or tweaking stuff in it, it's elegant, simple and quick

Thank you you guys so much for all the advices. Yeah about pure stock android, that's why im still unsure whether to root ny phone. However I'd like to change a few features in my phone, and according to my experience, I downloaded a good number of launcher, and every one of them requires me to spend money to enjoy all of its functions, which I was pretty much dissapointed.
And Im thinking about cyanogen mod too Grin

if you are using phone only for fun yes... you can root and unroot without any problems and with nexus 5 is even more easy...

look on xda forum for some information about this...

but if you using 2fa with your phone or you have any wallet with crypto i would suggest you to forgot about rooting...it's not safe...

Indeed. I do not see a reason to change a rom if stock works fine for you.

If you are somewhat computer literate than by all means root it! This will unlock other services/features/programs/performance/battery life/multiboot/etc for you.

You just need to see what works for you. Don't listen to the people afraid to try to root.

Btw ....you do not lose warranty like others are saying. The nexus line is made for people to tinker with and it is easy to restore back to factory settings.

And after you have rooted go install Viper4Android. You will not believe the sound your device is capable of and you will be glad you rooted it!

Cyanogenmod comes with supersu if you want to run root priv apps. Be absolutely careful because the Playstore is still full of malware, check permissions before you install anything. Flashlight apps and "nightvision" camera apps are the worst offenders for crapware and scamware.

Root access is handy if you want to restrict privs of existing apps https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=droidmate.appopsinstaller
If you have Nexus 4 can just compile your own custom Android version easily, edit whatever you want and give appropriate system permissions to apps you trust, don't even need to run a separate root app

But changing a rom in your android device is not necessary needed ... depending on what you want to do with it..

You have a nexus, you have pure android, you don't need to root really, take it easy and learn about the android ecosystem, you can already costumize and do everything you can do with a jailbroken iPhone without rooting, and when you get really bored and only then, you can root, and install and try other OS (such as jailfish, or Ubuntu, or FirefoxOS, or Taizen...) as for roms just meh really, just install a launcher and you'll have almost the same experience of said rom

How do you figure? Jailbreaking is rooting. There are things you can't do on stock Android, but you can do anything on jailbroken iOS.

I use Android too.

But I never consider to root my phone. It's too dangerous to do so.

I personally don't prefer rooting phone because of the negative factors being your warranty will be ended no matter if u have just bought the phone the very second u root it you will end the warranty so if its old and out of warranty maybe u can try also I think u can get a hack of almost every game u love without rooting so what's the point !!
