Meh.
Hhampuz, after the hiccups with the mint, can you please confirm the total mintage of the coin ?
I'm a happy owner of a couple of these and I'm curious how many siblings does it have. Tongue

As of now a total of 38 coins were sent back to the mint, never to be returned, bringing the total mintage to 122. Should add that to OP an dwill do shortly Smiley

If you paid with CC, you may still be able to dispute the charges.   That would get them to straighten things out right away Hhhampuz.

Good point rmc, i would go that route a cc was probably used so just call the cc company and tell them they didnt deliver the promised goods.

Sadly we did not pay with a cc.. Wire transfer was the payment option we used Sad

Ugh, that sucks, hopefully they do the right thing.    Try and annoy them by phone as much as possible about it.   Leave a negative BBB review, and anywhere else where their company is listed.

2 Week bump. Any news? I'm assuming no, but it never hurts to ask.

-Dave

Yep sorry about no reply in here.. It's been a nightmare trying to talk with any NWTM representative and I've been down and out with the flu.

So the latest update is:

There will be no coins. NWTM melted down the ones we sent back and they will not have the staff to remake them.

This has left me with two options and I will send out PM's to everyone affected by this.

1). People will get a full refund in the amount they paid back when they purchased their coins.
2). People will get a "free" coin from the upcoming release (currently working on having it made).

Option number 2 would help me out more as it gives no additional headaches when in this process (still fighting with NWTM to get our dies and refunds from them, no success so far). But I understand if people would want to go for option 1.

As said, I'll send out PM's to everyone affected by this and I hope you know how bad this entire situation makes me feel. This was definitely not what I wanted to do or how I wanted it to play out but it's beyond me.

NWTM is in Chapter 11 bankruptcy (reorganization) and has closed the bullion business but seems to be still minting (I would be hesitant to use them though:) Here are some useful links:

http://about.ag/NWTMint.htm

http://existingbullionorders.com/

It looks like Medalcraft Mint, Inc is buying the dies so if you have done any projects with NWTM that appears to be where your dies will end up.

Wtf... in two months, the top usa crypto grading service (ANACS) goes to shit, as well as the best mint in the usa going bankrupt? FML... Sad

Yeah this is bad news, like krog I'm surprised to see the website still up and running like nothing is happening.

Last minute cash grab, sorry hhamp but maybe they melted your coins down and are now selling the bullion.  Tongue

The Trustee has just filed a motion saying that he has accepted "stalking horse" bids from two companies for two sets of assets. A stalking horse bid means that the company making the offer must pay that amount, unless there is a higher bidder (and in exchange for guaranteeing a sale, the stalking horse bidder may get a small amount of money if they are outbid).

In this case, Industrial Assets Corp. and Maynards Industries USA LLC would be purchasing the majority of the NWTM assets for $1.95M. Medalcraft Mint, Inc. would buy the Medallic name, website, customer lists, dies, and related items for $700K. The companies would provide a deposit of $295,000.

NWTMINT is in bankruptcy?

How is it they are still running there website as if nothing has happened? Huh

  http://www.nwtmint.com/

What are they playing at? Scammers!!

Its funny I contacted them over about two months ago about making a coin.

The guy even called me back and explained the process on coin making and expenses.

All while this while they knew what was gonna  go down too!  Angry

Meh.
After sending multiple emails to people that should still take care of NWTM business I got an email from someone working at "Medallic Art Company", which is a private mint that were bought by NWTM in 2009.

The email asked me for pictures of this coin and an order number so that she could try and find them (whatever that means). So I'm hopeful about this getting resolved soon. If they were never re-minted and still have imperfections, I'll issue discounts for the people that purchased those specific numbers.

Thank you all for the patience you have shown!

Appreciate the transparency Hhampuz and it's very sad to hear they folded.  I wouldn't expect much to come out of it but I'm glad to see you're putting forward the effort for your customers.

I'm wondering when/if they'll actually put a notice onto their sales sites or if they're still accepting orders that could have future issues.

Yeah, right now I wouldn't put it past them to still accept orders without the intentions of fulfilling them.. Which is a shame.

That sucks bad for you hhamp, nothing you can do i guess.  Especially with the nbers missing, i got one and glad i did these are beautiful coins.  Any ideas on new mints or you arent that far yet?  Probably going to do a silver project this year so im gonna be poking around for some mints will let you know what i find

Thanks wheelz, it is what it is I guess.. Appreciate you letting me know if you find anything good though, I would of liked to already have the 2nd design in hand by now but yeah.

@Hhampuz so sorry to hear of the NWTM bankruptcy hope it has minimal affect for you. Kialara also used NWTM but I think he got the Moon series finished before the troubles.

Yeah it's a real shame.. I did ask around and people only had good things to say about NWTM until after I made the coins where I learned they've had issues for a while..

Yeah thanks Dave, found that site a few days ago, to bad I didn't find it 3-4 months ago Cheesy.

on a lighter note, numbers 51 & 52 both received "green jungle" anacs grades of ms69! Tongue

Edit but I'm sure I'll have to send them back unless they actually listened to me bitch about the holograms. Tongue

Thanks owlcatz, Can't be too unhappy with MS69 I guess Cheesy

And yeah, the jungle green crap holo placement is another issue that needs to be taken care of haha..

Gentle bump...any update?

I'm guessing no news is....no news.

Thanks,
Dave

Sorry for the lack of updates.. here's the latest though:

NWTM has officially gone bankrupt, the entire workforce was let go except for one or two guys. One of the guy that was let go (Marty) was the guy I've been emailing without getting any replies.

I got some emails for the owner and Trustee yesterday and have sent out emails to them today, looking for any update. It is looking bad right now though. Unless this gets resolved within the next couple of weeks I'll have to start issuing refunds to those who paid up-front. Besides that there's not much I can do, in the end I'll be the loser in this one and there'll be some missing numbers from the first release.

Probably taking this way off topic, but how many mints are there that do this? If you can pick from 100 different ones then you as a customer have a bit more leverage then if there are only 5.

Yeah I was in contact with probably half of the mints on that list before deciding on NWTM, almost half of those mints did not accept new projects though, or could not offer low mintage custom runs.. So there's not that many it seems.

You had an error rate of 25% while Kialara reported 22% of the Moon coins had errors and had to be done over by the same mint. Sorry for your problems making collector coins seems to be fraught with stress. Appreciate your efforts to help the community and hope you are making enough from the venture to make it all worthwhile. Thanks again!

I'm very new to coinmaking so I'm not sure if that is an acceptable rate but to me it is way too high haha.. It's all good though, currently in talks with several other mints and will shortly start production of the 2nd design. Trying not to get it out before all the previous customers have received their coins though..

Thanks for the kind words! Smiley

That is very high.  You werent asking for proof coins and at a high volume, there should be no more than a couple unacceptable coins from a mint like that.  Sorry you had to go through this trouble but i guess better to find out mow than later. Maybe a thread where some makers here that have publicly stated their mint can state their experience to either feed others info or discourage people from using a mint like this.

All of the Dignitas coins and bars were done by NWT and with the exception of a few spot of hand painted gold, were near flawless.  I'm sorry to hear you had problems.   Please let me know if they correctly rectify the situation otherwise I will have to find a new mint for future designs.

With all the mints out there i wouldnt risk it.  Last 2 we know if (kialara and hhampuz) both runs were less than satisfactory on many coins.  No response from customer service after you give them business and they have your coins that were bad is completely unacceptable and would not recommend anyone move forward with them in the future

Did a quick search and NWTM got an F from the BBB. Most of the complaints were for delays or nondelivery of large silver bullion purchases not coins. There are probably only a few manufacturers in the low volume collector coin industry to choose from. NWTM did do right by Kialara according to the Kialara blog. Bugging customer service every day, or asking for the dies might make the problem worse. You want the company to believe you will be a repeat customer.

I've not been bugging them at all, I sent one email which Marty replied to (After I was told we would receive the coins within 2 weeks of sending them in). He replied and told me that their Trustee had suspended all of their operations while they were awaiting funding from the new owner and that he'd have no more information for me until next week. This was now 3 weeks ago and I am yet to receive the email from him with the updated information.

I only recently sent the email asking for the dies, we had been talking for a long time about building up the brand with them but while they were very kind and fast in responding leading up to placing the order I have only been disappointed after we received the coins.

Note that no less than 38 out of the 150 coins we made had imperfections, that's a pretty big number and I would expect that when we are paying a small premium to use their mint they could at least do a decent quality control.

@Hhampuz I believe Kialara used NWTM for the 'To the Moon' series coins and also ran into some delays. I don't think they are singling you out on purpose.

I'm pretty sure this was the case.
NWTM have also been used by Lealana, Cryptolator and countless others. I'm sure they'll pull through and the coins will come out looking as fine as ever.
It may be worth emailing another contact/representative there to get an update Smiley

Mini-update:

As I was told the coins that were being remade would be ready a week ago I've been on NWTM's case about getting it done, to little avail.. A couple of days ago I received an email saying that their Trustee has suspended all operations while they are awaiting funding from their new owner.. This is alarming not only because we are waiting for the remakes but also because we wanted to go ahead with the 2nd design.

I'll let you all know what happens next week and if there are any updates, as they said they'd know more then. In the meanwhile we'll start looking for another mint to continue with in the future, there are limits to how much crap you can take Cheesy. Great coins from NWTM but there has been issues.

Dam that's not cool.  You should tell them you just want your irregular coins back so at least you can salvage something.  I know different people that use them I hope no one was in the middle of a project with them.  Hope it all works out

Yeah, I'll see what Marty (Sales rep) has to say next week, if there's no more update I'll ask for the coins back, hopefully they have not melted them down already..

And yeah I know a lot of people both here and other places use them and I definitely hope they are not in the middle of it either..

Any update on this? Did NWTM ever get back to you?
-Dave

As of now I have sent multiple emails to NWTM demanding an aswer, to receive my coins and to get the dies from these designs. So far I am yet to receive a single reply...

After this experience I am not sure I could ever recommend anyone to use NWTM for their coin release, I am currently looking in to other options for future releases and I apologize for the people that are still waiting for their coins.

I'll continue trying to reach out and will let you all know once I have any updates.

And yeah I know a lot of people both here and other places use them and I definitely hope they are not in the middle of it either..

hello

is this the most updated information?
Current lowest numbers available: #86, 87, 88 , 89

hello Smiley.

Sorry that is not the most up to date information, will take care of that.

Current lowest numbers available are: 131, 132, 135, 138. These coins are not in hand though as we are awaiting them to come back from the mint as they had to be remade. I currently have a raffle open for the last 4 coins that we did have in hand if you'd like to check that out. I do accept reservations for these numbers though and you'd receive them once we get them back Smiley.

Still plenty of numbers left and I've also increased the limitation of how many coins one user can buy. See OP for more on that.

I've also started letting people reserve the coins that are currently being re-minted since there were some juicy numbers there Smiley.

Thank you all for the awesome support shown so far!

And some numbers:

A total of 46 different people have bought or won these coins so far. A total of 91 coins have been sold which leaves only 59 coins left for the public Cheesy

I'd pay seperately with LTC or any other low-fee altcoin if possible.

Sure thing... it's yours.
Can be added to the payment if you would like or I can give you an LTC or even a Paypal address if wanted

So far sales are going great, still some people with reservations that are yet to reply to the PM's I've sent out but it is all good.

As for payments, please don't send in a payment without telling me that you are paying or by not sending me the txID, it can become extremely confusing if we are just receiving payments with no clue who sent it.

Still plenty of numbers left up for grabs, although we've already sold a lot of them. Feel free to ask if you have any questions at all Smiley.

You should consider selling a black t shirt with that cool logo "Banking Is Necessary Banks Are Not" on the front.

That is actually not a bad idea.. hmmm Cheesy

I'd buy a shirt, too  Grin

A company called www.bitlabshop.com used to produce that logo on stickers and mousepads. Alas they are no longer in business.

I'm happy to finally bring this to the forum as it has been in the works for a couple of months. I've had the idea for over a year as I've searched for the best manufacturers available. I give you: "Bankers BTCeware" The first ever design that will be released under the "Be Your Own Bank" brand.

Special thanks goes out to Minerjones who's been extremely helpful in realizing this project and helping out with logistics and escrow services! A big thank you goes out to tothemoonsands for helping with designing the hologram and initial coin design. Would also like to extend a thank you to the community for being supportive while I've pursued this.

General Info:

The coin is .999 silver and weighs in at 1 Troy Ounce. On the obverse there's a custom design and this one will change with each release. On the reverse the name "Be Your Own Bank" prides the top to and from 12 o'clock. This will not change with potential future releases. There's a recessed circle in the middle where you can place a private key and cover it up with the included custom designed 4-layered hologram. At 6 o'clock the coins serial number is engraved.

The Design:

This, the first design, has been named "Bankers BTCeware". It depicts a bull that is charging against a banker who desperately tries to wave the bull off with his dollar bill. This commemorates the bull run that we've had this year as well as the numerous banks and bankers that have been claiming BTC as a bad investment, amazingly enough we've during this time even crossed both $10k & $11k per BTC.

What You Get:

The coin itself which is 39mm in diameter that was put in an air-tite right after mintage. As previously mentioned, a custom designed hologram (x2) as well as a custom designed leatherette coin case. A COA with all the coin information, a small image of the coin design and a row for you to place the printed public key is also included with each coin.

Logistics, Shipping & Payments:

I have worked closely with minerjones for this project as the mint is located in USA and it makes more sense to ship out individual coins from there rather than me getting charged 25% VAT and import tax just for receiving the coins. This means that minerjones will handle all of the shipping as well as being the escrow for this project. This is the only payment address that we will use for this design: 3A2icsU1w6jCXsjenajo9EVkzAjE7kGpbs. This was generated by minerjones for the purpose of this and he is in complete control of it. He'll also sign a message below which includes this information.
The price per coin will be: This does not include shipping, that will be based on your location. Please send a PM to either me or Minerjones before wanting to pay for your coin to get the total amount. The above price is tied to $95 and changes depending on the current BTC rate so make sure to update it before sending payment.

Release & Serials:

Auctions are over and we can now open up general sales! Serials 16-150 are available and you can see which coins have already been reserved > Here <. As reservations ran throughout the Auction there's been nice number of reservations already. Note that several coins had imperfections so we had to send them back to the mint to have them remade. Once we get them back the people that have had them reserved already will have first dibs, afterwards they will be released to the public for the same price as the other coins.

Limitations:

As the idea was always to create an affordable silver coin that could be used a cold storage wallet I've decided to limit the amount of coins one user can purchase to twelve (12) coins. This does not include the Auction however and is only of concern to the general sales. This limitation will be up for debate in the near future and is subject to change overtime but as of now that is what we will use.

Disclaimer:

I reserve the right for any mistyped information within this thread. I'll work hard to ensure that everyone feels happy with the end result of the product offered. In case you are charged with import or VAT charges myself, minerjones or Be Your Own Bank can not be held liable for any costs that may occur for you. We will work hard on having the coin/s with you prior to the holidays but this is not something that we can guarantee. This thread is subject to being updated daily.

Thank you All!
