Wow.. awesome find matt.. im hoping for one of those too. Im making the bitcoin penny video now. Thinking about opening my mystery roll in video, but im torn. However on the other side the thought of selling the mystery roll with a double sided coin inside makes me sick. Its Like selling a cardsmiths box with a redemption card inside.

Thanks. Yeah I'm not good at keeping things sealed. I had picked up a second roll because of the 50% off sale he had for black friday so I decided to open this one. I was pretty excited there is alot of the older coins so it has me thinking about opening the second roll now just to try to complete the collection. Lol decisions decisions. I really love the idea of the mystery rolls. They're so cool.

Well I decided to open my Mystery Roll and got lucky. I got a bunch of 2015 and a lot of cool rare others including the 2018 Mantis edition coins. I need to make a list but I also hit on the 2021 Double Headed SN/ZPHR coin. Its such a cool coin and will be sending it in to be graded soon. Thank you for the awesome idea of the mystery roll. It allowed me to score a lot of the older coins that are pretty hard to find. I don't think I'm going to open my other roll but you never know lol

Thanks for the awesome sale and amazing coins!

I just realized i own a 2015 book turn error coin. It says metal error on the slab but never knew what it was until you posted the description. Lol

Yes, that's the error coin, and in the OG yellow slab too! Shocked

Regards,
Chris
Pretty cool.. for now im just going to stare at the mystery box. Cant wait to see what precious metals gets.

Won't be long...

Love the doodle

All in all - ALOT of fun pulling amd examining what I received. Thank God for the list up above.

Great mixture, some duplicates but is to be expected.

2015 book turn error
Doge 2021 with and without serial
Mantis Cryptos
Zepher In lovong memory
4 mini diy physicals
2018 Julie

And alot of btc pennies I wouldn't have accumulated any other way. Duplicates will be sent out as gifts.

And the double headed sample is still out there. Better odds here than at powerball.

More cool btc pennies to add to the stack. Most are in very good or better condition.

Chris and MJ,

Paradigm shifts are hard for people. I like the picture and the dialogue you shared. I can envision you and MJ being outwardly patient with difficult people like this one person and it makes me happy. Good work. Inspiring.

Is anyone going to open their mystery roll. Im struggling with what to do. If someone does open, post pics of what you got.

I was wondering the same thing, my friend. I've very curious to find out. I can say that while hand-rolling all 30 rolls, I saw some very interesting and rare coins. More 2015 coins — standard and error — than I would have imagined, and some of them still super shiny! Plenty of the rare S. Nakamoto signature script coins from various years. And at least 1 ultra rare (of 4) 2021 Double-Headed Sample Proof Coin. (Normally, we mint 4 Double-Headed Sample Proof Coins and 4 Double-Tailed Sample Proof Coin every year. Our records show that we sold 3 of each in 2021. That explains the 2021 Double-Headed Sample Proof Coin that will be found in these rolls. I wonder if the 2021 Double-Tailed Sample Proof Coin in inside one too. Honestly, I have no idea, but it's a reasonable bet.)

Good luck, everyone! I'll be watching this thread closely.

Regards,
Chris@TBPCo.

Nice! That is epic guys. Way to go. I am tempted to get a roll just for fun, are there any left?

The South Carolina Numismatic Association 50th Anniversary show that took place this last weekend:

http://www.sc-na.org/2022convention.html

BitcoinPenny and I shared a nice corner booth:

Which conference was this at?

Good morning, everyone. Smiley

Sorry for the late update. We've been going crazy preparing for / attending a big coin conference over the last two days and thru this Sunday.

Side note: What an interesting experience are these simple numismatic coin conferences! Only a handful of people know anything about bitcoin, and a few of them are vehemently opposed to it. In fact, our very first passerby on the very first day stopped to explain to us how bitcoin is a scam. Here's a brief snippet of that long conversation.

ME: Good morning!

CLUELESS IDIOT: Are you affiliated with the real bitcoin company?

ME: Umm...there is no bitcoin company.

CLUELESS IDIOT: Yes, there is.

ME: Really?

CLUELESS IDIOT: Someone's at the top.

ME: Actually, no one is at the top. That's the beauty of bitcoin.

CLUELESS IDIOT: Someone is at the top. That's the person with the server. And they can turn off the server and take your bitcoin anytime they want.

ME: [Opening my mouth to begin explaining the distributed ledger concept]

CLUELESS IDIOT: I don't know if you're aware, but bitcoin...blah blah blah...some fictional man that nobody can find anymore...blah blah blah...he ran off with the bitcoin server...blah blah blah...he has all the bitcoins...blah blah blah...the government...blah blah blah...illegal immigrant Mexicans..blah blah blah...

ME: Maybe bitcoin was invented by the Democrats.

CLUELESS IDIOT: I think that I detect a little sarcasm in that statement.

ME:

CLUELESS IDIOT: Hey, I'm ready to be proven wrong. Is there ANYTHING in what I said that you disagree with?

ME: Yes.

CLUELESS IDIOT: What part?

ME: All of it.

All in all, the experience is very interesting. These people desperately need schooling on bitcoin, and we're happy to take a few verbal punches in defense of the mighty cryptocurrency. Smiley

In the meantime, we'll keep you updated on the days' events throughout the weekend.

Thanks for supporting bitcoin, everyone! Wink

Regards,
Chris @ TBPCo.

. . . from our new BP® Collector's Guide . . .

Is this a printed guide yet to be released, or are you referring to a specific thread here in collectibles?

Geo

It's a free downloadable PDF guide. Available on the website in a few days. Just needs reviewing one last time for accuracy. Plus a short "About Our Coins" page in the beginning.

Here's another quick screenshot...

Honestly, I hadn't realized how many variations there are for people to collect. Including the annual double-head and double-tail proof sets (4 coins each), we've released an impressive 57 different variations over the last 8 years! Some of the variations are so rare that even we don't own an example!

Regards,
Chris

Wow. Looks great.
Can't wait to check off what I've got and start the hunt for the missing ones. Probably many that are unobtainable, but still fun to hunt.

Whats an accidental book turn orientation coin?

That's a very popular question with our little collectible coins. In the USA, the backs of our coins are minted upside-down in relation to the fronts. This orientation is often referred to as "coin-turn."

The second kind of orientation is sometimes called "book-turn," because this orientation resembles the pages of a book where both the front and the back of the page are printed in the same orientation. Another term for "book-turn" is "medal orientation," because many achievement medals are minted in this same "easy-to-read from either side when hanging" orientation.

Here's a visual snippet from our new BP® Collector's Guide showing the difference between the coin-turn and book-turn orientations...

Which conference was this at?

This was at the South Carolina Numismatic Association's 50th Annual Coin Show in Greenville, SC — our first attempt to represent bitcoin at a "real" [fiat] coin conference. You should've been there to see minerjones inform the naysayers that the USA fiat is not backed by anything either. (A lot of people think we're still on the gold standard.) Good times. Smiley

A big problem i see coming is there is a organized movement on the US conservative side to bash digital currency.  However, there beef is with the soon coming central bank digital dollar. But i hear them frame it as digital currency. We need to get the word out that a centralized digital dollar from the government is different then bitcoin. A matter of fact they are completely different. Btc is the anti-digital dollar.

Haha, what a story, Chris. Thanks for sharing.

I have had similar, even though maybe not that extreme cases of crypto talks before.
To me, one of the really interesting questions always is: how can you get through this wall of prejeduces - if that’s at all possible?

Could you succeed with this person?

In any case, would like to get one of these rare random rolls if still available. Will send pm.

The widest variety of Bitcoin Penny® collectible coins available since 2015!

The Bitcoin Penny Company is proud to present our newest off-the-wall product in the world of crypto-collectible coins! Introducing the NEW Bitcoin Penny® Wonderfully Wacky, Mixed-Up, Who-Knows-What’s-Inside, Surprise, Mystery Rolls — filled with rare and random collectible goodness from 2015 all the way thru our current 2022 Copper Collection!

THE STORY
We’ll soon be entering our 9th year of minting Bitcoin Penny® Commemorative Coins. And with each passing year, more and more crypto-enthusiasts are discovering our little copper collectible coins. Unfortunately, many of these new collectors entered onto the scene too late to snag some of our earliest and rarest coins. We’re going to fix that now.

Hidden deep in our “archives” (office sofa cushions, vehicle floorboards, inside rattling washing machines, etc) was a vast treasure trove of both old and new, shiny and scuffed, dinged and darkened Bitcoin Penny® Commemorative Coins. We gathered up all those loose coins and hand-rolled them to become our new Bitcoin Penny® Wonderfully Wacky, Mixed-Up, Who-Knows-What’s-Inside, Surprise, Mystery Rolls!

Each of these new “Mystery Rolls” contains FORTY (40) Bitcoin Penny® Collectible Coins randomly chosen from the following list. (NOTE: Some of the coins on this list are so rare that we’d totally forgotten they ever existed!)

*Where did this ultra rare Double-Headed Sample Proof Coin come from? It’s a true mystery! As a fun and exciting tradition, The Bitcoin Penny Company mints four unique Double-Headed Sample Proof Coins along with four matching Double-Tailed Sample Proof Coins at the start of every year. These special DH/DT Sample Proof Coins represent the rarest of our collectible coins. At the start of every annual release, we auction away to the highest bidders and most serious collectors these unique coins as four individual matching proof sets. As far as we knew, all four sets of 2021 DH/DT Sample Proof Coins were long since added to private collections around the world, so why did we find a single 2021 Double-Headed Sample Proof Coin in our lot of random sofa cushion coins? Did the mint send an extra set by accident? Is this a deep state hoax orchestrated by the underground lizard people? And what other crazy, few-of-a-kind coins might be discovered inside our new Mystery Rolls?** As we said above, it’s a true mystery!

**We honestly don’t know. After 30 minutes of cataloging and verifying each and every coin variation listed above, we quit due to intense boredom, so only 10% or less of the “Mystery” coins were ever actually evaluated.
