I'd like to announce a new forum designed for the Alt coin community,
www.coinversation.org. It is intended to be a slightly more structured, but a more fluid forum for all of the emerging currencies.
First off I'd like to note, that I have properly informed, and discussed the site with Theymos, making sure there is no conflict of interest in serving as a moderator here, and creating a forum to work next to Bitcointalk. Second, this will be treated as a regular thread, no special privileges will be had because I serve as a moderator to this board.
Coinversation.org is a traditional forum that uses SMF, but with a few features that set it apart. It is open to adding more boards to accommodate the expanding coin scene (please check our coin listing standards on the Info board). We will also be more strict on the intercoin fighting. We realize that people like the drama sometimes, and some are just confrontational people, so we have a separate area for people to complain about whatever they want to their heart's content, without bothering forum members who are not interested in partaking. We are also creating an initiative to cut out scammers. We are aware that we can't get rid of the threat all together, but we are doing our best by fast forwarding the process to applying scammer tags to members with appropriate evidence against them, and working on an integrated feedback system. This will not completely erase the threat, so please, as always use the discretion that you have learned, but we hope that it will help. We have eliminated newbie jail, instead requiring email verification, and users to enter a captcha for their first five posts, until they become a Pico Member. This is subject to change, as we won't know completely how effective it in reducing advertisers and bots until the site is operational, but we believe that this is the best method until proven wrong.
As for staff, I know all of our admins and moderators personally. That means, greater accountability. If they do something wrong, I can physically smack them around, so there is less possibility for user abuse.
And lastly, the site is still very primitive. As it is now, the awe inspiring features are at a minimum, but we are working on them. In the state it is at now, it should be fully functional, besides a few bugs that I'm sure will pop up (but be fixed promptly) so if you want to give the forums a shot, check it out, suggest features, and help us give the community a great place to be.
Important:be sure to read the threads inside of the "info and forum policies" board, found here
http://coinversation.org/ctpwm/index.php?board=5.0 . It highlights a few policies to clarify what I said in this thread.
and I can't stress it enough, please use a different password on coinversation than you use here. I would not like anyone's security to be compromised for any reason. By having a different password, it just helps in general.
Be aware, this is the first public test, features may be buggy while we get things straightened out. We have had functionality to a acceptable level with a handful of members, but this is our first public release.
Feel free to post any comments, questions, or concerns here, and I will try to address them, or if I don't have an answer, accommodate them.
