In today’s society, where the era of the Internet has taken over the world, proving that an individual was the first to create a file can be quite difficult, especially since once content is published to the Internet, it only takes a couple of minutes for it to appear on other sites, and for others to copy the work and put their names on it.

Why the SHA3 digestion algorithm that lacks the long and still perfect track record of SHA2 though?

We went for SHA3 as it is most likely future proof, it is the winner of the NIST hash function competition and the SHA-3 standard was released by NIST on August 5, 2015.

SHA3 is also not susceptible to length extension attacks which other algorithms including SHA2 are.

Just an FYI if you sign a message with the bitcoin address used to send payment to our system and include it on the second step this will also be included in your PDF at the end!

What is Crypto-Copyright.com?

Crypto-Copyright is a service that allows you to prove ownership of a digital work, this can be anything from PDF documents, mp3's, images or even raw text such as a Poem or Lyrics to a song.

Our service will calculate the SHA3-224 cryptographic hash of your work (client side using Javascript; your document is never uploaded to our servers) and using our embedding algorithm we will permanently and irrevocably insert this into Bitcoins Blockchain.

How does Crypto-Copyright.com work?

Crypto-Copyright works by calculating a cryptographic hash of your work, this hash is unique to each digital work.
Once we have calculated your hash we append it to our unique bytemarker (CryptoProof-):

When we have combined your cryptographic hash with our bytemarker we create a custom Bitcoin transaction using a special OP_RETURN code that allows us to insert the data into a transaction and broadcast it to the Bitcoin network.

How can I prove I submitted the hash?

Using two factor crypo-proof mechanisms it can be proven you were the one who submitted the cryptographic hash by signing a message using the Bitcoin address used to send payment to our system.

This signed message will be included in your crypto-proof certificate along with the Bitcoin address generated for your unique transaction and the transaction ID containing your cryptographic hash.

The combination of these three things can cryptographically prove you were:
1) In ownership of the digital work at the time your transaction was included in the Blockchain
2) That you were in control of the Bitcoin address used to pay our service

Thus proving that you were able to calculate the hash and submit it to our service.
