Some people ask us about the design philosophy of PoC, here is a brief introduction:

Consensus entropy and PoC consensus mechanism


Basic idea: Use entropy concept from physics in block chain, thus, we introduce the concept of  consensus entropy.

1. The concept of consensus entropy
In a distributed system, by default, the reliability of every node  is unstable; maybe there are many false nodes (created by script nodes). Under such a situation, we can say the system is in chaos. In other words, "consensus entropy" is very high. The computation used in PoW of bitcoin is to eliminate false nodes; in the meantime, to punish false/dishonest nodes in order to ensure the consensus in the end. From physics point of view, those extra computing power from computer is the work of a high entropy distributed system. Thus, it reduces the entropy of the system in order to build consensus in the end. As a result, it can complete the basic function of block chain. 


2. Is it necessary to elimination of entropy endlessly?
PoW is currently the most reliable consensus mechanism (calculation). But, the short coming is obvious as well, because it needs to work constantly to maintain low entropy status unanimously. Thus, it wastes a lots of energy. It will generate 1.3 ton carbon dioxide and costs thousands dollar to produce one bitcoin. Is that really necessary?

The two main functions of PoW are 1) eliminating the false node, 2) punishing the false node.

2.1. Eliminating the false node:

In the every round of PoW calculation, it is contentious on every node in order to do the block chain mining. The false node does not have computing power. Therefore, it will be eliminated. In this process, all the real nodes will do a massive computation for the system and it will reduce the consensus entropy to reach the consensus in the end. But from the next block, all the nodes will start eliminating entropy all over again. Therefore, the huge resources are being wasted. We kind of know this is unnecessary, because the system is in low entropy status. The very next round consensus should start from the "low entropy" status, not to start from the very beginning, forgetting about its "low entropy" status. The short coming of PoW is the design flaw, without ability to maintain its own "low entropy" status. Thus, the whole system is to eliminate entropy endlessly.

2.2. Punish the false/dishonest node: Besides the punishment for computing power, there are some other punishment method such as using "token." So, it is not a must to punish false/dishonest node in PoW.

In summary, if we can design a system to maintain its low entropy after the previous elimination of entropy; in conjunction with other punishment measures, we can create a new consensus mechanism method without PoW.

Are you using low frequency multicore architecture as part of your design to increase scalability and are these components part of the design of your router?

How will the price of DPR tokens be determined in a real use case situation? Let’s consider the case of a deficit of nodes available for users? Will users compete for available nodes making bids? And what about the opposite, where there is an excess of nodes available? Wouldn’t that lower the price too? Basically, what are the dynamics of price discovery for your tokens in a live and active network?

I would say if all it takes is a device with a network port, then the investment to run a "deeper farm" is a lot less compared to a GPU farm. I mean a Pi is what, 30$ compared to 2000+$ for a GPU mining rig. So the chance to participate is equal for everyone. However for true decentralization it would make sense to allow 1 device per IP to prevent farms.

We definitely have plans to list our tokens on major exchanges. But before that, we'll be focusing on deploying our devices and gaining real utilities of our token. Once Deeper token (DPR) is widely adopted, major exchanges will in turn need DPR to be listed.

Yes, users should the right to decide what to do with their private data (including selling it). That's what we call data sovereignty in our whitepaper. I can see that as future work when we develop the trusted Internet. For now, we'll be focusing on protecting data privacy.

You basically need to run AtomOS to participate in e2 chain mining. A mini PC + AtomOS definitely works! As for multiple nodes in a home network, I don't have an answer now. We'll carefully think about it in e2 chain implementation. We generally discourage mining farms as we want to give everybody an equal chance to participate.

Hmm, I like good projects to tinker with.

So if I understood correctly, once AtomOS is released, anyone anywhere can install a node on whatever hardware he wants (be it a pi or a nuc for instance)? Are homemade devices allowed to mine on the e2 chain too?

Because the main issue usually is getting those "official" devices shipped abroad. They usually cost quite a bit and paying import and shipping taxes is always an annoyance.

Can more than one device run on a home network? Asking as residential internet connections usually have one single (and dynamic) IP. Or could I potentially a deep army of rPIs :p?

There are some projects that allow users to sell their private data to marketing companies. I am wondering if you are considering that option or if your project is solely based on privacy and free access to information. Have you considered collaboration with such projects?

When do you plan to have your token on exchanges? Do you plan to hit up any crypto exchanges like Binance, KuCoin or Huobi?

I am thinking that if Deeper Network is a security device, then it is going to be useful for people handling crypto or those vulnerable to attacks by malicious agents.

Considering that you already have a router for a private Internet connection that will be used as a mining rig too, I am curious about the protocol. What exactly does Proof of Credit mean? So far we know that PoW is the most secure protocol but expends massive amounts of energy. And although we all dream of seeing BTC in the range of 100k-300k (if it ever reaches new ATH or if it survives) such a price could only come at a huge energetic cost. Currently PoW could be described as, literally, energy suicide. You mention that this router doubles as a mining rig and operates on only 12 watts. I would like to know if you have considered or anticipate any vulnerabilities.

Will miners acting like nodes have the option to set a whitelist of websites they will allow users to contact when using them as a proxy? Since some of us may not want to have local law enforcement visiting us in our homes. Any details?

Good question. Let me add some more points here:
1. Users will use our dedicated hardware, DeeperConnect, to maintain Deeper network. It does not involve your other devices.
2. We are a team of network security experts who are in this industry for decades. Strict traffic isolation is implemented between your own traffic and other traffic. You can also specify how much bandwidth you want to share.
3. DeeperConnect itself is a hardware firewall. It protects you from malware and other Internet threats. It's actually better than Mcafee or similar products as you now don't need to install any of them in your computer, but have a dedicated device to handle all those things.

Absolutely. There's always hype and speculation in new markets. Just like the Internet bubble around 2000. Don't lose confidence in blockchain. Internet has proven itself in the past 20 years and blockchain will, too. Deeper network is one of the projects with real use cases. We'll be focusing on deploying our devices rather than ICOs. Anyway, be patient and look forward into the next 5 years or so.

We'll work on Medium articles in the future. To answer your question, VPN uses central service nodes and its traffic pattern is easily recognized by censorship. Deeper network is decentralized and nodes discover each other on blockchain. AtomOS tunnel encrypts all data being transferred and disguises traffic pattern. Last but not least, VPN is way too slow when dealing with internationl Internet traffic. AtomOS implements fast TCP and novel congestion control algorithms to accelerate data transmission. For example, we tested 4K video streaming between US and China and observed no delays at all.

Could you create a Medium article explaining your tunneling technologies (AtomOS) to the man on the street? I kind of understand that you have designed them to circumvent censorship and to ensure the high performance and scalability of the system. But I still haven’t connected all the dots. The market has been so bad lately and there has been so much capital destruction. People have lost hope in ICOs and crypto in general. We need to reinvent the market and stop paying attention to the projects with rockstars that deliver nothing. Some of those projects are at the top 10 in market cap. We need to pay attention to real projects with an ethical and hardworking crew.

This is a very good question. We already have the solution to eliminate the risk for users.
In AtomOS, we do NAT for every connection, for the connections from other users, AtomOS will assign them a specified range source port such as ( 60000~65534). This can help user to clarify the bad traffic is from others instead of himself.

This is indeed a good question. Here's the main advantage:
You can think of our device, Deeper Connect, as a hardware security firewall sitting besides your Wifi router at home (it will eventually replace your Wifi router once we release our next product Deeper Connect - Wifi version). I suppose you never want to turn off your Wifi router at home. Therefore, Deeper Connect should be a 24/7 on device that provides security protects to your home network, allows you open access to any Internet content w/o being censored, and protects your privacy while using the Internet. Besides that, Deeper Connect will run our own blockchain called e^2 chain and earn you Deeper tokens (DPR). If your router will be on 24/7 anyway, why not run a blockchain on it and mine tokens. The power consumption of Deeper Connect can be as low as 5W since e^2 chain uses a different consensus algorithm called PoC (Proof of Credit) that is different from Bitcoin's PoW. You simply don't need to compete hashing power with other nodes.

Computers and cellphones are not reliable 24/7, plus it's not worth it if you compare their power consumption with Deeper Connect. IoT devices normally does not have that computing power to run a blockchain. Deeper Connect has a embedded CPU! In fact, IoT devices at your home (e.g., camera) should join Deeper Network to get security protection and avoid data leakage.

This is a very good question.

For scalability issue:

1. Initially, the project is based on ETH network. Probabilistic micropayment is adopted.
a. It avoids frequent ETH transactions.
b. It avoids the big gas fee.

2. We are going to launch our own public chain (e^2 chain) which are constituted by Deeper Connect.
a. Based on sharding technology, e square chain can solve the scalability. In this way, the salability issue can be solved in the long run.
b. After the launch of e^2 chain, we can avoid the gas fee on ethereum.

Yes, we are building our e^2 chain which adapts Deeper's PoC consensus mechanism.
Unlike PoW and PoS,  PoC guarantee every Deeper Connect has the equal chance to mine the DPRs.

Now we are using the substrate to implement our e^2 chain. We will implement PoC and sharding based on it.

I believe that this project has great potential if it manages to fulfill its own expectations: being fully functional and provide the privacy that the Internet currently lacks of. Internet privacy is a big issue right now and real technological breakthroughs could help users recovered part of the lost ground regarding privacy.

First, our design philosophy is different with Mainframe. Mainframe is trying to build a new blockchain based network stack. New application have to use their stack to benefit their technology.
What we are doing is using the blockchain to protect the current network asset first. Every user and application can get benefit from Deeper immediately.  We prefer a smooth evolution to the Internet. Please check the white paper about our 3 steps plan.

Second, DeeperConnect(Yes, we changed the product name) is an all-in-one solution and is designed as plug and play and zero configuration
We assume our users don't have strong background of block chain and security，DeeperConnect will do everything for you.

We are trying to make the device  free, we have some approach to do this:

1, We use our money to provide free devices to our users.
2, User can run our AtomOS on any OEM device such as Raspberry PI or even lower end device, like this Orange PI:

Your project seems very interesting, I would like to know more details about how your technology is superior to other competing projects, like Mainframe or Maidsafecoin. What does it make you unique? And could you contrast your own technology with the technology of these other projects?

I understand that Mainframe is working on a Peer to Peer architecture similar to the Torrent servers making use of any IoT device. In contrast you are using what I understand are Deeper Wire devices to keep the network active. Is this an advantage or a disadvantage? I am thinking if users necessarily have to have this device in order to access this private network.
