Are you posting this to the wrong thread? It's not related to the pools we mentioned or to Vertcoin...

Our nodes are updated to the new p2pool network and are running code to make sure miners on our nodes don't have higher target share difficulties than if you ran p2pool yourself. If you do want to run it yourself, the vtc port of p2pool is currently at

https://github.com/donSchoe/p2pool-vtc

I also updated RoyalMiningCo's front ends to a more advanced/useful version, with links to the prior version if you preferred that.

ok.. thanks for the reply.

can you suggest a decent normal pool where I can mine?

EDIT - ok ... I joined ecurie .. finally seeing my shares being contributed.

With hash that low you'd be better off using a normal pool that will credit you for each small share you find. With p2pool you need to find higher difficulty shares and at your speeds, that might take a really long time. Even miners with 2-3 GPUs sometimes find the variance of p2pool too much to stomach. If you are CPU mining you might go weeks without a single share.

I am using a 8 core CPU and trying to mine on royalmining.co.uk and p2pooletyd.org for the past two days ... and I am not getting any booo's or yaaay's ..

Every 2.0s: vertcoind listaccounts & vertcoind getm...  Sat Feb  8 02:17:52 2014

Is it because my hashrate is really pathetic.. that I am not getting any yayyys??

.. I dont think I have contributed any shared either .. cause my wallet address is not listed in the "Active Miners" list in the site.

on p2pooletyd.org .. same issue .. I see everything as 0 for my wallet id.
Worker Tracker > Hash Rate > Worker Rate: 0.00H/s (Stale: 0.00%)
Effective Rate: 0.00H/s

Can someone help me if I am doing anything wrong?

I am using a 8-core cpu to mine..

I am using cpuminer-vert. I think I have installed all prereqs properly cause I am finally able to run the minerd command ... so why is it that i am not able to get a yayyy and coins??

appreciate your help!

ABISprotocol on Gist
Hi,

I'm testing this mostly for fun right now.

Just to compare, I am trying this using two operating systems.

On one: 2 P8400 CPUs at 2.26 GHz each, on Windows XP Pro (5.1, Build 2600) (the machine has running both Windows XP and Ubuntu, but am using the Windows XP mostly to see if I can make it fail)
That one is running as follows:
(yielding 2.77 - 3.15 khash/s - almost 100% accepted - lots of appears in the command line)
Note:  The pool for that one is stratum+tcp://stratum.ecurie.io:3333
setup to send vertcoin to hrmph3.hrmphworker:hrmpherhash  (feel free to contribute some khash/s to me if you are feeling generous)

On the other, is running with
8 GB / 4 CPUs, 80 GB SSD disk, 5 TB transfer, Debian 7.0 x64
- using cloud instance ('droplet' setup) here: https://www.digitalocean.com/?refcode=8567e6d7f12f
(Please use my refcode link above if you try out the digitalocean thing - it helps me out.)
The build was fairly simple and straightforward.
In fact, I set it up exactly as was shown here:
http://dogecoin.ga/dogecoin_mining_cloud_servers.htm
Except rather than turn it to a dogecoin pool, I pointed it at vertcoin pool.
Note:  The pool I am pushing that one on is p2p, currently running on stratum+tcp://p2pool.etyd.org:9171
currently running as follows (looks more or less like this on screen):
-------------------------
Stratum detected new block
thread 1 (...) 5.71 khash/s
thread 2 (...) 5.70 khash/s
thread 0 (...) 5.40  khash/s
thread 3 (...) 5.60 khash/s
Stratum detected new block (...)
(more or less repeats with similar khash/s but.. no yays or boos or accepted figures.)
------------------------------
It's been running for half an hour like that, with no yays or boos or accepted figures at all, so while it is happily hashing away, I don't know if I am seeing any benefit at all from it (Would be great to see some in there, or at least something that would tell me that it is accepting, but nothing measurable is available yet.)
Command used to run it was as follows.
./minerd --url=stratum+tcp://p2pool.etyd.org:9171 --userpass=VbJpz8dWzuFJvJU2vNPqpW6PYmx2pwp8fQ:anything
(Yes, I am using the word 'anything' as the password - Just experimenting here.)
also have tried stratum.ecurie.io:3333 using the cloud instance setup, but I just get a lot of when using ecurie.io from the cloud instance - so right now I have it dialed to p2pool.etyd.org:9171)

Note:  if this helped you in anyway, please send vertcoin to VbJpz8dWzuFJvJU2vNPqpW6PYmx2pwp8fQ

Another note:  If you like the project I am working on [[ ABIS protocol - https://gist.github.com/ABISprotocol/8515891 ]] then please notice the links at the bottom to donate in bitcoin, litecoin, or dogecoin.  (or donate in vertcoin.)

Cheers, and many happy hashes!

edit: After over an hour of hashing away from the cloud instance, but with nothing showing from results from the cloud instance on Debian 7.0 x64 (4 CPUs), while the piss-poor Windows XP (2 CPU) setup is actually happily cranking out hashes galore and much accept, it would seem that I am doing something wrong with the cloud thing, so I am going to destroy the droplet that is running on digitalocean.  If anyone can get that to work please publish a vertcoin cloudmining guide here in this discussion thread somewhere.  I notice that this: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/P2Pool#Frequently_Asked_Questions has a lot of useful info on p2pool stuff, but I don't know if any of it is actually necessary, since the Windows XP (2 CPU) setup (with stratum.ecurie.io) - while not a p2pool - seems to actually work.  But if you can figure out a way to get a cloudmining (digitalocean or similar) setup to point at stratum.ecurie.io and actually work, please by all means include some notes in that in any guide you post here.

How does it work for payouts?
I don't understand when it find blocks
I mined for 12 hours at 150 kh/s, but I didnt get anything yet

P2pool can be rough for small miners because of high variance. Still though, 150Kh/s should find a share now and then. If you go to the Graphs link on the node you mine at you can find some charts for your hash rate and your amount of payment (if block is found) under your mining address. That way you can be sure the mining is working properly. If the variance is too high for your comfort level, there are other normal pools running MPOS out there too.

getting constant work restarts on your node.  other nodes are actually accepting shares.
anything i'm missing here?

VspxPVafdfC8tC8iqQQ1t88GCeu5kb5hZf

Work restarts should happen every time a share is found on the share chain. I'm not sure offhand what the target rate for that is on VTC, might be every 15-30 seconds. I'm not sure why you wouldn't see that on other p2pool nodes though. They should all function identically.

Any way you can see if I am actually submitting shares?  My miner says so but I haven't been on a payout list for 12 hours.

confused developer
The first p2pool nodes for Vertcoin are now available for mining.

nodeX: p2pool.etyd.org:9171
nodeY: vtc.royalminingco.com:9171
nodeZ: vtc-us-east.royalminingco.com:9171

Edit: All our current nodes can be found at http://scanner.etyd.org

No fees for now.

Replace hostname in the below examples with the address from NodeX or NodeY.

Connect with:
Code:
url: stratum+tcp://hostname
user: your vertcoin wallet address
pass: anything

You can use the same address for several workers (but its probably a good idea to use a separate address if you have a worker that is much slower than your other workers).

Some configuration examples:
cpuminer using the build from http://www.vertcoin.org
Code:
cpuminer -o stratum+tcp://hostname -u yourvertcoinaddress -p x

cudaminer using the build from http://www.vertcoin.org (or compiling yourself from https://github.com/cbuchner1/CudaMiner)
Code:
cudaminer -o stratum+tcp://hostname -u yourvertcoinaddress -p x --algo=scrypt:2048

That will autotune.

vertminer using the build from http://www.vertcoin.org
Code:
cgminer -o stratum+tcp://hostname -u yourvertcoinaddress -p x

Extremely basic cgminer configuration, you will need to add more options. Please see this thread for example configurations .

The "pool requested work restart" message in cgminer is normal, it says that every time the vertcoin network finds a new block.

Your stale rate will be higher due to the much shorter blocktime in the p2pool network, this will even out in the end
