good afternoon everyone

Thank you to the people who have sent private messages about a couple of things or contacted through the site.

Modifications have been made to the backend certificates.  Everything, including currency updates are all encrypted

In response to a question, the site updates every 5 minutes and will give you the status of the transaction every step of the way.  6 BLOCKCHAIN confirms are required for an item to be set as paid and appear as such in the seller control panel.

Yes, it is free & totally free and will always be free. Relisting is free, listing as many items as you want is free. Listing BUY IT NOW ONLY, auction and auction with BUY IT NOW are all free.  Free is FREE!!!!
Had a comment about free meaning scam.  This is a risk with all new bitcoin startups.  if you are worried USE BITPAY!!!! IT IS FULLY INTEGRATED INTO THE SITE AND WILL UPDATE YOUR SOLD ITEMS/LISTINGS AUTOMATICALLY!  If you only allow BitPay for checkout, then freeBitBay will NEVER see the coins.  We deliberately don't handle your bitcoins so we do not become a target for thefts.  We don't need to handle your bitcoin and we don't want to handle your bitcoin!

With regards freePaY security, there is an admin encrypted set of keys generated for each transaction which we can use in a dispute.  There are 2 copies of this key, both stored on encrypted memory sticks in safes at different locations.  Only the director has access to these keys (his address is as per the company address  should you need it)

And yes, this is based around open source code, EXCEPT for the payment systems which have been built from the ground up.  There are over 1000 hours of work taking the free BETA open source platform into a stable market place

Yes you can use other payment gateways if you prefer (again so we never see the coins).  If you have a wallet address, then you can use that, or you can select pay by other method and contact the buyer with the details

Yes, there is a currency converter.  Click on the BTC symbol next to prices.  The conversion will work on a large number of currencies

People with XP machines and old android devices may get an error about the SSL certificate.  This is because we are currently on a shared IP address.  Old devices do not support SNI.  However, the site will move to its own IP address in the next few days and you will not see any errors going forward

If anyone needs anything else then please let us know

Sorry we are a little slow at the moment, but we have a new release coming in the next week or two and we are currently writing and testing!

Just a little plug.  We are website developers by trade and are happy to help with other projects (we are happy to give free advice).  We are also happy to work on paid projects.  We do this for the love of bitcoin and crypto currencies - just like you guys!

freeBitBaY.com is a new online auction/market place, providing a framework for buyers and sellers to exchange goods for Bitcoin (although we will soon be adding more coins)
The service is offered COMPLETELY free of charge.  We will not be introducing charges in the future!

General Details
The site provides the expected auction types (auction, buy it now, buy it now only and also dutch auctions) with 'shops' to be added in the coming weeks
List HTML descriptions with images, post upto 8 photos, select a category, add a subtitle, list shipping options, select specific payment gateways for each auction, relist items and plenty more!!
Full search ability, including by location and international shipping.  Sellers can edit final value of auctions to include for extra shipping costs.
Full feedback feature to gain the trust of buyers.  It is also possible to link your EBAY account to your seller profile so buyers can see existing previous feedback (saves starting again from zero!)

Integrated Payments
The system is complete with two integrated payment systems;
BitPay - the most common ecommerce payment provider
freePaY - Custom built, secure escrow styled service, without any live wallets or coin handling
You can also pay to a simple wallet address or by an 'other' payment message

How freePaY works
freePaY works on the passing of encrypted keys.  A private OFFLINE key (generated in the browser under ssl encyption) is provided to the seller during signup, which is stored by the seller offline.  When a buyer pays for an item, a new wallet and corresponding private key are generated.  The private wallet key is encrypted with a one way encryption key stored on our server.  Once payment has been made, the buyer has the option in their control panel to release the wallets encrypted private key.  When the goods are received and the encrypted private wallet key is released, the seller then receives a new area in their control panel.  The seller can now decrypt the wallets private key with their OFFLINE key (in the browser under ssl encryption) and move their funds (we use ARMORY to do a sweep of private keys)
This system means that there is no need to have live wallets or directly handle coins

Both BitPay and freePaY are fully integrated into the site.  Buyers are given an automated checkout screen for payment of the goods.  The systems update the buyer as to the current confirmation progress of their payment.  After 6 blockchain confirmations, the item is set as paid in both the buyers and sellers control panels, making managing purchases and orders as simple as possible!

£0.25 Donation
The only problem with offering all this good stuff for free, is that people may wish to take advantage.  In order to help combat scammers and spammers, we insist that all users process a transaction through PayPal.  The charge is only used to cover the PayPal fee.

There are descriptions and details on the site if you need any more information!!
If you find any bugs then please let us know on here or contact us through the support ticket system
