HPB already do 5000 tps and aims right now to provide 10k tps worlwide

Its not the same that you promised at the beginning (1 mln TPS). And this is not much for DPoS algo projects, as some DPoS projects have even more TPS. Vitalic cant scale speed because Ethereum has PoS

The testing of the MainNet optimization is ongoing, and is scheduled to be completed soon.

Is mainnet has not launched yet? When are you going launch mainnet? As i see you promised 1 mln TPS, but no one project dont have such numbers yet. How this possible?

Mainnet has launched back in september 2018 with 5k on chain tps worldwide and 10k tps in mainland China.

But they are about to upgrade these numbers, it is and will be an ongoing R&D.

HPB didn't promise 1M tps but aimed for the maximum with respect regarding decentralization and security.

Really? What is this?

With a target of 1 million TPS and a 3-second confirmation time, HPB aims to become the standard for all major business applications in industries that require handling of billions of data points with extremely low latency.

This is on the 1st page on your announce. A lot of projects has promised such TPS numbers already, but in fact no one dont have so many TPS...

On chain means that it's not a second layer scalability solution that V.Buterin or others are trying to figure out since 2017
Every transaction or smart contract happen on chain (like Bitcoin without LN). It's more secure.

HPB already do 5000 tps and aims right now to provide 10k tps worlwide (already the case in mainland China).
Besides, HPB is a combination of Software and Hardware, so every major steps which will be overcome in the software department by any competitor could be leverage with small adaptations by HPB.
Imo, the race is already over.

5k tps is enough to handle 175 times all the transactions of Bitcoin+Ethereum+Vechain networks.

HPB is working to use this capacity and the first big dapp (UnionPay Smart traceability system) is about to launch

Download the mobile wallet (iOS or Android) to access current dapps, it works like an "appstore"

Amazon Web Services and Ethereum foundation just launched a contest to develop their own dedicated hardware to solve the scalability issue:
https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/startups/competition-forever-change-blockchain/

HPB is two/three years ahead, it takes time and lot of money to develop this kind of hardware
Amazon and Ethereum know that softwares can't scale for large B2B applications and massive adoption.
It didn't even work for - Cryptokitties - so don't expect IOT, Bigdata or Decentralized finance

Ye, sure. But 1 bln TPS is a target not a fact  Wink I think they should solve many problem because they want to collaborate hardware and software for own blockchain. And it is difficult to reproduce on a working network because of conditions and synchronization. That's why team work - it's a good already

In recent months we have on-boarded multiple organizations who are utilizing our blockchain and hardware technology. For these services organizations are generally required to pay a service fee charged in fiat currency. To stimulate the use of blockchain technology and specifically our coin, we will offer organizations a discount if payment is made in HPB coins rather than fiat currency.

For instance, if an organization is charged 100,000 dollars for rendered services, we will offer third parties the option to market-buy HPB coins and settle the payment in HPB Coins. If the third party agrees to this option, they are entitled to receive a discount over the total fees.

Additionally, third parties could be offered a discount on smart contract gas fees. For instance, we could offer a transaction fee discount upto 25% depending on the number of HPB held/staked for their DApp.

We believe that this is beneficial for both parties, as the third party will enjoy lower costs, while HPB will see greater adoption of blockchain technology and increasing demand for HPB coin.

Why don't you announced this companies? How much are they paying right now in fiat and what % of discount will be in HPB? Are this tkens will be burned?

Afaik, every partnership is announced here: https://www.hpb.io/blog

Other partnerships might be under NDAs...

For the details we must wait other announcements (before the next round of elections)

1. Blockchain As A Service (BaaS) – HPB coins as payment option:

We believe that this is beneficial for both parties, as the third party will enjoy lower costs, while HPB will see greater adoption of blockchain technology and increasing demand for HPB coin.

2. Long term rewards:

On a periodic basis we will offer rewards to our long-term coin holders and supporters. We will strongly encourage our partners and DApps to issue airdrops to existing HPB wallet holders. Additionally, we will continue to explore additional ways to provide more incentives for coin holders, for instance through periodic campaigns where supporters can receive rewards in the forms of coins, tokens, merchandise, and other types of giveaways.

3. Node Voting Incentives:

Every 3 months the entire HPB community is able to take part in node voting election as a node-holder or as a voter. The elections are extremely important, because it directly influences the governance of our network, therefore we strongly encourage every HPB wallet holder to take part in this process.

In order to boost participation, we will in the future introduce a new functionality, enabling our node holders to issue HPB rewards to their supporters, allowing non node holders to receive direct incentives for participation. This entire process will be managed through a convenient user interface on the HPB Wallet App, which will automatically generate smart contracts based on the rewards issued by each node holder.

We are confident that these new measures will further stimulate the use of HPB coins among all stakeholders. We would like to actively communicate and collaborate with our community. Please do feel welcomed to reach out to our team on Telegram for good suggestions. Let us together create a more balanced and decentralized future!

This proof of stake approach also moves much of the heavy lifting when extending the blockchain from software to more efficient hardware, a shift, assuming it’s successful, that has the potential to reduce the cost of extending the blockchain — all that crypto mining to solve  — by a factor of 10X or more.

Q1: What is the current tps of hpb and future targets?
HPB’s current actual TPS lies between 5000–10000 Transactions Per Second, depending on the active nodes, network concurrency, server latency etc. Our team is currently optimizing the network to reach a stable performance of 10K TPS.

Q2: Danny, can you tell us how the random number generator on the Blockchain Offload Engine works? Is any other team working with both hardware and software?

Excellent questions.
Question 1:
Our BOE chipset consists of multiple FPGA Chips that are configured to exercise a certain function through VHDL language. These chips are heterogeneous in functionality and thus work differently than chipsets which are only able to perform one function.
In our system random numbers are generated through FPGA chips and sensory bodies that are configured to register voltage and temperature differences. Our chips are able to continuously measure those differences at extremely levels of sensitivity. For instance, our board detects a variance of 0.00001 volt, and based on this seeds a new random number.
This technology allows us to create true random numbers, which are highly secure and cannot be altered by malicious parties. Other blockchain projects make use of software random generation which are deterministic and have potential security risks as they are based on algorithms, which can be breached by skillful coders.
The potential use cases for hardware random number generation are endless. Any situation where we need to ensure impartiality we can implement hardware random number generation. You can think of gambling games, lotteries, online games etc. In software random number generation there is a chance that a third-party influences the final results. However, with the HPB hardware random number generator, the random number is non-deterministic and the results can be audited.
Question 2:
HPB is the first and still the only public blockchain project that has designed and manufactured a dedicated hardware chipset to enhance blockchain infrastructure performance and consensus algorithm. Our hardware chipset, the Blockchain Offload Engine (BOE), fundamentally changes the manner in which data is throughput in a blockchain system and how nodes interact with each other. Moreover, through the hardware random number generator that is embedded on the board, it can also provide additional functionalities to developers.
I would like to highlight that our chipset is different from conventional mining machines typically used for Bitcoin mining, or hardware devices built by other projects such as Skycoin. Traditional mining rigs are used for blockchain projects that are built on a PoW consensus mechanism, where its sole function is to accelerate the process of solving computation problems that chain together the blocks of transactions.
The HPB — BOE on the other hand is much more advanced. The BOE has the ability to encrypt data, randomize block structures, and support encrypted virtual machines. It is developed from the perspective of creating an integrative network, improving performance and security. Some key benefits include: 1) greater data throughput (high TPS), 2) greater data security by creating two layers of security through hardware and software, 3) reducing the cost of maintaining the network, and 4) true data structure randomization by using a hardware random number generator.

Q3: Do you know any other projects trying to solve the blockchain trilemma with a hardware solution?
As far as I know, we are still the only project which has taken this approach.

Q4: What does HPB think is the biggest obstacle for adoption?
The biggest challenge for adoption is that we have to educate the public and enterprises about the benefits of blockchain technology, and how it fits in within legacy systems. In order to overcome this obstacle, we have to build plug-n-play solutions, where developers and business people do not even realize that they are working with blockchain. Similarly to using the internet, most users do not know the intricacies of HTML or other programming languages. For blockchain to get real widespread adoption, we have to reach that same level.

Q5: Why should Enterprises build a dApp/solution on HPB and not on an other platform? Which companies do you already have on board who are/want developing/develop a dApp?

Q1: I believe that three elements are important: usability, security, and throughput. In order to provide proper support to enterprises and developers I believe that the benefits from our hardware (acceleration, security and added functionality) need to be combined with strong middleware support. Middleware is the connecting bridge, linking traditional systems with the underlying blockchain. It enables both businesses and corporations to quickly build DApps onto our chain.
No blockchain knowledge is needed, we can provide plug-n-play solutions: third-parties do not need to bother with creating blockchain wallet accounts or smart contracts etc. We are able to provide an interface that is intuitive to traditional developers.
Our team has developed middleware solutions that can be applied in various industries, including: food industry, finance, manufacturing, data management, and education. Depending on the potential partner’s requirements and legacy systems, we of course might have to make some adjustments, but implementation should generally not be a problem.

Q2:Some of the companies that we are currently working together with include: UnionPay, Shanghai Youwan and its network companies, and Prophet.

Q6: HPB is the first and still the only public blockchain that has combined a customized hardware chipset with high-performance blockchain software. Does this mean every node running in the blockchain will have to use customized hardware?
Yes, every node that is maintaining the HPB Network must make use of our customized hardware. Our hardware is distributed to each node holder for free

Q7: Did you have some plan to create a plateform to make ico or create easily tokens on HPB network ?
We are currently not planning to create a new ICO platform or exchange. It is already posible to create tokens on the HPB Network. For those that are familiar with creating ERC-20 tokens, it should be intuitive to also launch your token on the HPB Mainnet.

Q8: Who do you consider a competitor for HPB?
This question can be observed from two angles. First, in terms of market acquisition, I consider every other public chain to be our competitor, because we are all trying to attract DApps and enterprises to make use of our technology. However, from a product perspective, I do not believe we have any competitor, because there is simply no other project which provides a similar value proposition as HPB.

Q9: When did HPB started R&D of BOE hardware? How long did it take to develop BOE?
R&D for the BOE hardware already started in 2016. We finished manufacturing the first batch of BOEs around mid 2018.

Q10: Does HPB allow interoperability or is there a plan to?
Not yet, but we are working on creating full interoperability with Ethereum. At this moment we are also testing with other chains.

Q11: Danny, how did HPB find themselves as the only Blockchain project as a sitting member of World Bank’s SME Finance Forum? How will this partnership benefit HPB in the future?
Q1: Since the inception of HPB our CEO and other members of our founding team already had strong connections with various policy makers, and have been influential in informing them about blockchain technology, its potential use cases etc. Our CEO, Xiaoming Wang, is one of the top blockchain pioneers in China, and has co-authored multiple books on blockchain. His input is very much valued.
Q2: Through this partnership, HPB is linked to global policy-making networks such as the World Bank, OECD, APEC etc. Simultaneously, it gives us access to a network of global SMEs to understand their business challenges and explore how blockchain could boost their operations.

Q12: HPB have launched a series of blockchain courses on the largest chinese It educational platform. Will those courses also be avilable in english (or other languages) by time?
We are definitely looking into offering English and other language course materials in the future. As an aspiring leader in the blockchain space, we believe that educating as many people as possible about this technology is very important for the development of our industry and for the betterment of society.

Q13: When extreme marketing?
I am not sure what your definition of extreme marketing is. But I can confidently say that HPB will keep building new products, and try its utmost best to expand its ecosystem, and reach throughout the globe. We will definitely not sit still, and we won’t stay quiet about our achievements.

Q14: You just told us you are working with Unionpay which is a very big company (bigger than Visa and Mastercard combined), what do you do exactly for them? How can they benefit from a dApp on HPB and how does its progression looks like right now?
Q1 + Q2: UnionPay and HPB are working together to develop a tailored system to improve UnionPay’s big data management. The platform enables a network of users, primarily financial institutions, to more conveniently, efficiently and securely distribute data to each other. Most financial insitutions still store data, such as loan contracts and payments, physically or on outdated systems. Blockchain technology can be implemented here to enhance data storage and security. At the same time, we are working on mitigating potential fraud by making use of digital identity technology and traceability solutions.
Q3: We are currently tested the DApp in a secured network, to see whether all parties can reap the benefits that this system provides. Once we deem the system sufficiently stable, we will publicly launch the DApp on our public chain. At the first stage it will only be accessible to big institutions, however we do have plans to potentially expand this, and also involve regular consumers into the system through a mobile app.

Q15: HPB is more oriented enterprise adoption or public adoption for now from your opinion?
I would say that we are equally focusing on both, because we feel both are very important for the long-term viability of HPB.

Q16: Hi Danny, are you able to discuss any movement with regard to the MOU with UK-Government backed accelerator DLT Lab here in London, has there been any progress with this partnership? And are there any other activities / initiatives for here in the UK (if so what timeframe)?
At this moment our team’s priority is to expand our ecosystem and business relations in Korea and South-East Asia. Therefore, we are currently not actively involved yet in the UK market. But I can say that we communicate frequently, and we are likely to expand upon this partnership later this year. We have discussed and made plans to organize hackathons and incubator spaces to support promising companies and applications. Our goal is to do this from different perspectives: financially, business support, and tech support.

Q17: Besides the advantages you have already mentioned such as combo of hardware/software what would you consider to be an important overlooked point with HPB that will set it apart from the many platforms out there that many may not be aware of?
The important overlooked point is that HPB’s technology is vastly different from any other project in the space. Our entire blockchain network runs in a vastly different manner than other projects. Our consensus algorithm for instance is not Proof of Work (PoW) or Proof of Stake (PoS), we have our own consensus mechanism which we call Proof of Performance (PoP), where we next to staking, also consider node location, server and network speed.
I would say that our system is more complex than conventional blockchain projects.

Q18: Is there any benefit for hpb holders in mobile wallets?
Are we expecting unionpay smart data tracebilty to launch on hpb any time this year?
What should we expect from hpb in the last USA tour including visiting coin Base office and many others is there anything to share about that visit.
Q1: I assume that by benefits, you mean passive income streams. At this moment we do not provide this. In the future we may implement campaigns that allow you to win HPB rewards for a period of time. Moreover, we are also discussing different mechanisms to provide incentives to users who participate in our quarterly node election voting process. This however, is still yet up to debate among the team.
Q2:Yes, we expect a first release later this year.
Q3:Besides creating awareness for HPB in the North-American market, our visit to the States also allowed us to establish communication ties with big international corporations such as Facebook, Dropbox and Western Digital. We will continue to maintain those relations, and explore cooperation possibilities.

Q19: Danny, you already are an honorable member of #WangGang (of course), but what is your highscore in the WangGang game? http://game.myhpbwallet.com/
Haha, I am terrible at the game, it is really hard! I believe I only managed to get 5 points upto now.

Q20: We know now that combining hardware and software to the blockchain architecture allows to add more components to the blockchain, but why should it be done in a hardware-related manner, why not just implementing extra components/elements into the software code? So, in other words, what makes it necessary to add a hardware-chipset?
Scaling and optimizing through software has its limits. The recent lack of progress in leading projects such as Ethereum have made this evidently clear. In order to reach new technological advancements, we have to look at its infrastructure. When we want to improve gaming graphics, we also upgrade our video graphics, the same logic applies to blockchain.

Q21: What is your take on the gigantic difference in Bitmax`s reported and adjusted volume on coinmarketcap? Maybe Cao can chip in?
When we look at coinmarketcap, almost every single exchange has a significant difference between reported and adjusted volume. These difference arise due to different reasons, including: difference in methodologies, difference in technology used, and potential wash trading.
Nontheless, our team has observed that the Bitmax exchange is developing rapidly and continuously introduces novel products to enhance user experience. Therefore, I am confident that this partnership will help both our platforms to evolve to the next level.

Q22: What are your explanation or your deduction on the price and the marketcap at this level? Some theorie to expose ?
There are many variables that can include price. I could provide a myriad of potential explanations, but it is not very useful to speculate here.
All I can say is that I feel that HPB is currently undervalued in the market, and that our team will continue to work hard to improve our product and boost public awareness.

Q23: What should we expect going forward for HPB? Where do you see HPB in 2 years from now?
In the short-term, from a business perspective, you can expect us to be increasingly more active in Korea and the South-East Asian market. We will keep attending and hosting events there. From a technological perspective, we will aim to boost our TPS, enhance our security, and provide additional functionalities to developers and enterprises. Our hardware random number generator will be key here, and we expect to launch its functional use for developers within 2 months.
In 2 years, I hope that HPB is among the global market leaders in blockchain. Our team will do its best to create better products, improve communication with the community, and create new use-cases for blockchain technology.

If someday a blockchain achieve this, it would be HPB, as they are far ahead in this game with their Blockchain Offload Engine (BOE) and can easily leverage every software improvements.

Think about that: if today all Bitcoin, Ethereum and Vechain transactions happened on HPB it would use only 0,57% of its current worldwide network capacity, and hpb can process this DAILY amount of transactions in just 8 minutes and 30 seconds.

HPB focus on adoption and will release the alpha UnionPay Smart DApp this year, which will run on HPB Mainnet and will need HPB as gas to process every transaction.
More parties will be linked into this big data management system.

HPB : Why you’re missing out
https://medium.com/@pattympat/hpb-why-youre-missing-out-a957833a0d7b

“If Hardware is so important, why don’t other projects do it?”, “If HPB is open source, what prevents people from stealing the BOE and using it for their projects?”
While these questions might seem pertinent to most, this article will show you why these questions aren’t very intelligent, and are based on misconceptions.
In order to do this, I will explain:
How a hardware is made, describing the whole process. This will show you how hard and lengthy this process is, making other blockchain projects go for easier and less costly solutions, such as “software development”. This point will also show you how the HPB ICO is justified, compared to other projects by giving you an estimation of the cost of production.
Demonstrate, following the first point, that even if, a project were to steal the BOE, it will need 1–2 years to release it, and in a space moving this fast, 1–2 years is a very long time.
(...)
Just writing all of this tires me, you can imagine now how tedious it is to create this BOE.

II/- Cost approximation
Time = money in a company:
A project like this needs 2–3 years of production. Pay the salary of these:
Hardware engineer (1–2)
System Engineer (1–2)
Layout Engineer (one)
Embedded Engineer/devs (several)
Mechanical Engineer (several)
Components Engineer
Buyer
Managers for each team
Tool licences :
Hardware: Schematics maker, a management tool( for components and documents)
Mechanical: CAD / solidworks + management tool
System : management tool + system tools
SW Development tools
Layout tool like Enovia/Cadence
Manufacturing cost:
Factor every component and multiply by the number of the board (mechanical pieces included)
Time needed for the manufacturer ( tooling, personnel , and gain)
This could easily cost millions of dollars. Lettuce be cereal here, that’s not a small sum.
Let’s not count the prototyping. There could be several prototypes before the manufacturing comes in…

III/- Conclusion
Answering the questions that I asked in the intro:
1- Why don’t other projects use hardware if it is that good? Do other projects have the capacity and will to go through such a tedious process, in a space that is incredibly risky? If most of the space is a scam, why would they waste their time with this enormous effort? Ask yourself this question. Does Vitalik Butternut have the capacity to manage such a project? No, because he is a software guy and has 0 experience in electronics. Does the HPB team now look a little bit more serious to you now that you understand what goes on behind this BOE? Ask yourself this question.
2- What prevents other projects from stealing the BOE design? Well like I have just showed you, the process of building it requires a massive amount of time (around 1–2 years). So far, HPB is the only project with a working hardware, and no other project started working on it. This means that HPB has first mover advantage and is safe for 2–3 years. That’s a long time in crypto. Isn’t it worth investing in the first mover? Ask yourself this question.
3- In conclusion to cost point, I believe the HPB ICO is the ONLY one in the space, that is JUSTIFIED. Why does a project like EOS need billions of dollars? What justifies the cost? What about Cardano? Ask yourself this question.

From TG group:

The BOE's benefits stretch beyond enhancing transaction speeds, its greatest advantages arguably are enabling double data encryption layers and true randomization of data management. The infrastructure enables us to create true transparency and fairness for different application scenarios, we do not have to rely on software algorithms which can be breached by hackers. In future videos and on our new website we will more explicitly emphasize these features.
-
« Btw does BOE really take the voltage, temperature etc into account when generating random numbers? That's fucking insanely genius
- Yes it definitely does. That is exactly how we can ensure true randomness. Hence HPB is excellently suited for applications such as voting and gambling games. »
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hardware_random_number_generator

http://www.yidianzixun.com/article/0M7cLwj6?searchword=HPB

"Our idea is to get some data from the physical world through hardware, because the physical world is an irremovable dimension. There are hardware in our system, and the data of the physical world such as voltage and temperature is collected through hardware, so that the random number that is truly non-removable is obtained.

The random number mainly includes three aspects: the first aspect collects the voltage temperature, and then takes several decimal places to get a random number. The second fully combines the mechanism of the blockchain consensus process, and adds the random value, plus the previous random number, to generate the random number of the current blockchain, and makes a second security guarantee. Third, if you want to get this random number, what do you do? You need to take the value of the previous block to guess, the time left for you is very short, and these values are unpredictable, even if you get it, you have to be able to verify it. Once you find that you are doing it, you will be taken The data is discarded. Therefore, through these three points, the hardware random number is completely guaranteed.

Random numbers seem to be a topic of comparative technology, and a few examples are helpful to understand. For example, your welfare lottery, or real estate lottery, if these things have a very feasible process, we are willing to participate, once the real questioning problem is solved, including finance, including many key scenarios, it is possible to build on the blockchain."

What if we could automatically and seamlessly extract, analyse, and circulate data. If companies, governments and even you and I could actually monetise that data, and trade the data directly with companies, it would create a new trustless data economy — the likes of which has never existed before. In fact, as part of the Blockchain Explained series, IBM make clear that blockchain will enable ‘peer-to-peer information exchanges between individuals, corporations and machines without middlemen extracting tolls on the information highway’, thus ‘value currently locked in data silos will be unleashed.’

HPB fundamentals, an update:

https://medium.com/@mtn.sedy/high-performance-blockchain-fundamentals-77a7dc9d25d3

Everything you need to know.

Also note that hpb use a eth-like tokenomics with the use of gas to make a transaction or deploy smart-contracts:

Quote
HPB Coin
HPB coin is the fuel of the whole HPB ecosystem. Some of the use cases are:
- It is used as gas for transactions
- Developers need it to issue smart contracts
- New projects can hold HPB and launch ICOs to raise funds
- Coin holders can vote for nodes and influence the way the network is governed
- Nodes also need to hold HPB coins and the more they hold, the higher their chance of becoming an HP-Node and earning higher block rewards.
- Initial coin (total) supply is 100,000,000 HPB.

The inflation rate is 0 the first year and then capped at 3% then 6% max of the initial total supply:

Quote
HPB adopts an inflationary system. Current inflation is capped at 3% of the initial token supply and once another 150 nodes are added, it will increase to 6% of the initial token supply. Fixing the maximum inflation rate to initial token supply means that the real inflation will actually decrease each year.
To drive adoption and economic incentives, HPB team decided that for the first year of inflation an equal amount of HPB will be burned from reserve fund. Which means the first year of HPB there will be 0% inflation.

is this the reason why you managed your presence even if your thread is not so active? did you receive seed funding from them?

I am sure that there is no strong partnership. Just for the simple reason that regulators from the chinese banking system would simply not approve this step. This is not logical and it violates local laws.

If Union Pay is claimed to be a partner, just have them make a public announcement and that's it.

Besides the fact that HPB's CEO was a co-founder of UnionPay Smart which could hint some strong ties, the dapp is currently under development (testing phase) and hopefully we'll see soon this dapp going live. I think execution is better than communication...

I don't think UnionPay Intl will ever disclose anything on a ongoing development.

UPS dapp is about data traceability & personal information management.

And let's not forget there are more dapps currently under development.

They don't have to announce anything about ongoing development. The problem is just that way too often some projects claimed nonexistent partnerships. It is not necessarily a problem with you, but with claiming partnerships in general. I am sure you know what I am talking about.

You just don't understand the purpose of the Union Pay Smart Dapp, it's not about creating a dedicated crypto-currencies but a tractability platform for Union Pay Smart customers (basically all the Union Pay merchants).

Your answer means that if write a question to them in support, they will confirm that they are working with you?
Or will there be an answer that they do not know you never heard of you and never worked with you?
Because I'm going to do this to prove that your information is not true.

Go ahead, this is blockchain, it's all about community works. If you feel that this partnership is bullshit then make your own investigation and if you find something shady then you will get a lot of reward  Kiss

Our CEO Wang XiaoMing was interviewed by Mars Finance! With some insightful questions regarding blockchain and our future, the article is a great read! The full Q&A can be found at: https://www.hpb.io/post/201

Mars Finance: March 12th marks the second anniversary of HPB. As a veteran in the blockchain industry, what do you think of the development of public blockchain in the last two years?

Xiaoming Wang: In the first two years since the birth of Ethereum, only a few people paid attention to public blockchain, and we were among the first. As we kept an eye on its technological achievements, we also found out that it had some problems that required solutions.
We studied public blockchain for two years before establishing HPB in March 2017. For example, we translated the tech documents of Ethereum and written some research articles.

Quote
Key perspectives:
1. There is no big difference among projects ranked 100th to 300th in terms of market value, and the ranking is subject to change. The 100th-ranked project is not necessarily much better than the 300th-ranked one.
2. Despite the ability to attract considerable traffic, public blockchains deployed by exchanges are too concentrated on financing and trading, which only account for a small portion of the market. There are more demands yet to be met.
3. Ethereum’s future development is heavily reliant on community governance, as well as technical realization and implementation. Be it successful or not, its contribution to the market and technical community cannot be obliterated.
4. In 2019, the market is relatively calm. People will be more pragmatic than ever by putting forward realistic ideas and implementing them. Projects with scenarios will come out to shine, while those without will not be able to draw the attention of the general public, no matter how advanced the technology is.
5. Payment is a major scenario that will generate blowout growth once the policy is loosened.

Cryptography Experts KnownSec.com Complete its HPB Security Audit

HPB Foundation published at 2019-04-01

HPB’s blockchain infrastructure has been thoroughly vetted by Knownsec.com. Back in August, 2018, with the recognition of security needs, HPB announced the partnership with Knownsec.com, that will provide their security services for an in-depth HPB MainNet code, HPB Wallet and Smart Contracts security audit.

Due to HPB’s unique approach in mixing hardware and software, the security differs when compared to other blockchains and hence, require wider spread security checks. The review focused on HPB’s smart contract, consensus algorithm, BOE hardware, network protocol, iOS and Android mobile applications, and other miscellaneous features that is offered by HPB.

Knownsec.com has completed the security audit, and according to the report, HPB has proved itself to be a high-performing blockchain with high security.

Knownsec.com has been providing security services for over 100 blockchain enterprises since 2011. Favored by many top-tier blockchain businesses, the company draws from practical experience in blockchain security to pinpoint threats, vulnerabilities, and bugs from a developer’s perspective. Knownsec.com will continue to provide security advice to HPB to support the security requirements.

The future of blockchain is very bright Danny Rowshandel from HPB With thanks to Jeff Ranker at https://t.me/hpbdutch for helping with this translation.
High Performance Blockchain was introduced on BlockchainStories last week. In this Q&A we put a few questions to the Managing Director of HPB, Danny Rowshandel.

1. Could you introduce yourself briefly? How did you get a job with HPB? What does ‘Managing Director’ mean exactly? I am Danny Rowshandel, Managing Director of International Business at High Performance Blockchain (HPB). My team's goal is to expand HPB's business to new geographic markets. I do this by setting up strategic partnerships with the business community, universities and other organizations. I also organize business events such as workshops and hackathons and I represent our company at international events and via the media. Before I worked at HPB, I was active in the financial world in China, where I worked for ICBC, China's largest state-owned bank, and HNA Technology, an investment conglomerate focused on IT services. At both companies I did research with other colleagues into blockchain technology. At ICBC, for example, we looked at the possibilities for digital payments and going digital with documents through digital ID technology. On the other hand, at HNA I explored possibilities to tokenize a number of our assets. The idea was to create fractional ownership through tokenization, making it easier for investors to participate and reduce financial risks. In addition, I acted part-time as a consultant for a crypto VC where I advised them on promising blockchain companies in China. During my research into promising cryptocurrencies, HPB was one of the projects that caught my attention. Coincidentally, a good friend of mine, Emma Zhu, was already working there as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). She told me that HPB has great ambitions to expand internationally and asked if I would consider making a full-time switch to blockchain. After a few good conversations with the management team I decided to get started here.

2. How did you come into contact with cryptocurrency in general? About 10 years ago one of my classmates started talking about Bitcoin. He was intrigued by Satoshi Nakamoto's whitepaper and thought it could bring about a real change. He planned to invest 5000 euros and asked if I would like to join him. At the time I did not understand bitcoin, because I constantly heard that bitcoin is digital money that you can make with your own computer. That concept was strange to me and it sounded like a scam. Unfortunately, I did not properly investigate the issue at the time, nor did I take the time to read the white paper. My former fellow student regularly brings up the subject when we have drinks with friends to tease me about my wrong decision. In 2016 I started doing research on blockchain technology because of work. In 2017 with the ICO hype, I started looking at cryptocurrencies actively.

3. What do you think the future of the crypto world looks like in general? And what place does HPB have in it? It is important that we make a distinction between blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies. Blockchain is a digital ledger and is the foundation cryptocurrencies are built on. Cryptocurrencies provide the digital means to complete a transaction on the system. The future for blockchain technology is extremely bright. In recent months, a number of governments and companies have indicated that they will use blockchain technology. For example, KLM is very active in the Netherlands. They are conducting experiments to simplify the flight ticket booking process, launch digital loyalty programs and improve logistics processes. I expect that more organizations will slowly realize the benefits of blockchain technology and that demand will increase sharply. To understand the role that cryptocurrencies can play in our future society, we need to look at the function of traditional money. Money has four basic functions; it serves as a guarantee of value, an exchange of value, a means of payment and a common measure of value. With the invention of the internet and everything that has made it possible, we are witnessing a steady transition from value embedded in physical assets to value created by digital assets. If we look at the world's top five companies, these are all technology companies, with data as their primary asset. There is therefore a fundamental review of the meaning and functionality of money. Decentralized networks based on open protocols will transform the internet and entrepreneurship. Cryptocurrencies offer the opportunity for companies to develop their own micro-economies where all stakeholders have common motives and where fraud and disputes can be avoided. Taking these benefits into account, I believe that the market for cryptocurrencies will grow in the long term. HPB has the potential to become one of the leaders driving this change. By building the world's first and only hardware solution, our technology is future-proof and we provide a good foundation for building applications on our blockchain protocol. Our hardware chipset, the Blockchain Offload Engine (BOE), makes it possible to reliably send data at high speed.

4. What will happen in the coming months around the High Performance Blockchain? Our team is very active in various areas. On a technological level, our team is busy optimizing our current hardware chipset and doing research into technological improvements, which may enable us to introduce a future BOE version 2.0. In addition, our tech team is working on new applications for different industries, so that we can offer a complete plug-n-play solution to users and organizations. From a marketing perspective, we are busy setting up partnerships with tech accelerators, universities and media contacts. It is extremely important that we focus more on our project, especially outside of China. As the HPB organization is predominantly Chinese, it is of fundamental importance to achieve our goals together with good local partners. In addition, our goal is to offer the HPB coin on more international exchanges. We especially want to work with exchanges that have real volume and make it possible to buy cryptocurrencies directly with fiat money. The plan is to make it as easy as possible for users to join our ecosystem. From a business perspective, we are in conversation with various parties and we see that demand is constantly increasing. In China, for example, we are already working with UnionPay, the world's largest payment provider, and ITCEC, a large Chinese state-owned company that provides electricity in various parts of China. Outside of China, we had exploratory talks with a number of large parties in the business community and governments about large-scale projects. We hope that we can make progress in this regard in the long term.

5. Is the BOE only useful in combination with the HPB open-source software? Or can this hardware be used for more applications? The BOE is open source and can in principle be combined with any blockchain. We can also combine the BOE with virtual machines, for example the Ethereum network. But the technology is optimized for our blockchain.

6. What are the biggest obstacles you encounter as a blockchain startup? The vast majority of society does not yet understand what blockchain technology is and what its function is. When you start talking about blockchain, people often make the association that you are a bitcoin trader. On the other hand, many people tend to label you as an ICO fraud. It can be a challenge to have a constructive discussion when the person you are talking to has different frames of reference. On the other hand, there are organizations that show a strong interest in blockchain technology, but they struggle to transform their organization in a way that will allow them to embrace the technology properly. For us as blockchain providers, it is crucial to create awareness for the technology and to offer plug-n-play solutions to help users and organizations use the new technology.

7. How does the Chinese blockchain market differ from those in Europe? And what is the biggest (unjustified) prejudice we have about this? What are the benefits of this Chinese market? In terms of blockchain technology adoption, China is ahead of Europe. China's president Xi Jinping sees blockchain technology as one of the fundamental technologies to reform the Chinese economy. Blockchain technology has already been embraced at various levels of government. Furthermore, there are hundreds of companies in Shanghai alone that are involved in blockchain. In that respect, the Chinese population and business is a lot more pragmatic than Europe. Trading in digital coins is a grey area in China. The Chinese state wants to ban it because many wealthy Chinese people use Bitcoin to send their capital abroad. The Chinese government wants to keep control of all flows of money and data and therefore does not support the current Bitcoin model and other cryptocurrencies.

8. Recently there was an HPB meet-up in the Netherlands. To what extent is Europe really a target group for HPB (in terms of: partners and communities)? Europe is one of the leaders in blockchain technology and has, for example, already outpaced the United States and large parts of Asia by applying disruptive distributed ledger technology. The European market has a lot of potential, because a large pool of talented developers is available. Furthermore, a number of European countries are particularly pragmatic. Malta and Switzerland, for example, have already introduced an extensive legal framework for blockchain technology and organizations. This offers certainty for blockchain companies and for companies that want to apply the technology. We see the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland as strategic locations for building communities. That is why we have set up an incubator in Switzerland together with Cryptovalley to support local blockchain developers. In addition, we recently organized a meet-up and workshop in the Netherlands.

9. What are the biggest competitors for HPB? Ethereum and other "second generation" blockchains, other new blockchain startups, or is it just Bitcoin? We actually have no direct competitor, because there is no other blockchain company that offers a similar product (blockchain hardware chipset) as HPB. In practice, every blockchain protocol can compete with us. Then you can think of projects such as Ethereum and EOS. But we believe that we offer a different value proposition and in this way will distinguish ourselves in the long term.

10. What is the one tip that you want to give to every blockchain and crypto fan? The number of blockchain projects and applications will only increase in the coming years. Many of these projects have very ambitious goals, but various studies show that 90% of all tech companies fail within 5 years. First, it is important to evaluate whether the business model of a project is practical and whether it has a reasonable chance of success. I would therefore also recommend that people check carefully whether a project is still active and transparent about their performance and progress. You can't expect from a large company before the release of a finished product any direct communication
However I'll point out some facts:

1. The quote is from HPB website:
http://www.hpb.io/post/185
(bottom)

2. At the HPB's BOE launch event, Jiangxiao Jun was a speaker:
https://youtu.be/riO-SB_BMK0?t=2991
Union Pay Smart Chief Operating Officer Jiangxiao Jun: "Applications of Blockchain in Big Data and the FinTech Industry"
“HPB is the most practical Chinese Blockchain project”, especially regarding big data applications. Blockchain technology already has a strong impact on the FinTech industry with its most value in data traceability and the inability to modify the data on the blockchain.
In this video you can hear almost the exact same words from UPS COO Wink

3. HPB's CEO and UPS COO are friends... and business partners.
Xiaoming Wang was also a co-founder of UnionPay Smart
https://www.linkedin.com/in/xiaoming-wang-90ab1b160

4. UPS dApp is currently in development (Planning, Analysis and Design are done with UPS) and will obviously use the speed&security of the network.
Maybe it'll be a sidechain (a "tailored solution" as Xiaoming Wang put it) but it'll use the hundreds of High Performance nodes for scalability & security, so UPS will use hpb even if it implies merged mining by HP nodes.

HPB focus firstly on Finance, Big data and gaming.
Among other dapps currently in development, I'm sure Laya.one is a good pick and will bring lots of users.

I'm not a paid shill I'm just a regular holder since january 2018 & big fan,
not related in any way with the company.
As I secured the nickname HPB on bitcointalk, I'll try to sell it on eBay in 2023

HPB has no competition. If you look at the evolution and adoption of the Internet, you will see that actual development in speed and scalability was driven by hardware upgrades. We believe that this will be so for blockchain as well. There are no other blockchain hardware scalability solution projects out there.

There can be limited competition from other fast and scalable DLTs, but ours is something concrete while many other projects are still theoretical at this point. We see DApps nowadays, for example, trying to move away from Ethereum but seeing no faster and more scalable ready-to-use alternatives yet. This is such a young industry and we can't say that anyone has already established any real market share. HPB is poised to get a good chunk through a combination of a practical product, a public blockchain where anyone can deploy dApps, and through reaching out to traditional tech enterprises.

Wat especially makes High Performance Blockchain better than the other, normal Blockchain?

Quick answer: It's a blockchain & dapp's platform which don't rely on special means (e.g. xrp's established high-frequency payment channels) to achieve high numbers of transactions per second in a secure and decentralized manners - as you can expect from a solid blockchain project.

Secondly, it's a project that focus on real-adoption and use and not hype to see a real organic (network) growth in the long term, high tps will meet real business needs as we'll see this year with the partnership between HPB and Union Pay Smart.

Tokenomics

We are a blockchain that mainly focuses on large institutions. The HPB coin is a utility, used for gas and transactions on the network in the same way as Ethereum.

Our top down approach means will partner with large clients (like Union Pay) and add their user base on to our blockchain thus creating lots of transactions. Most of these businesses (in the short term anyway) will use blockchain in the background and the consumer will not know they are using BC. This is a smarter approach as crypto is not easy to use and learn at the moment.

So besides blockchain games we are developing, our current utility is access to our high speed network and being able to transfer coins quickly. This will of course continue to grow as we continue to build and grow ourselves.

THE BENEFITS OF HPB's BOE

"OK, so the hardware that we have designed and manufactured is called the blockchain offload engine, the BOE. It's a hardware chipset, it looks like a PCI card, you can plug it into your server and what it actually does is it processes data.

So what it does is all the verifications that occur on a conventional blockchain software, our infrastructure, a lot of the data that goes to the infrastructure is being processed by this hardware chipset and additionally what the hardware chipset does, it provides an additional layer of encryption to make sure that the data is protected.

So, inherently, in a blockchain data is protected already but what our hardware chipset does, is through a random number generator that's on the hardware board, all the data that is on there becomes scrambled, basically. So there are actually two layers of protection and also because it's tailor-made to process the verifications that occur on the blockchain, it truly scales up the transaction speed of the blockchain."

Happy birthday, two years  Grin

http://www.hpb.io/post/185

Key facts:
- team of 60 people
- another hardware in development (smart contracts)
- strong Union Pay Smart partnership, dapp in development
- A new developer program to be announced, committing millions of dollars to help blockchain developers, and jointly develop high-value applications.

Below are some of the wishes we've received from our partners:

“Our blockchain-based authorization traceability system, where we work with HPB, plays a very important role in helping us to carry out our big data application services business with security and compliance. While working together, I can see the professionality and pragmatic attitude of the HPB team, which is rare in the industry. I wish HPB a happy birthday on the two year anniversary and [for them to] become a leader in the domestic blockchain industry!”

let's give them the chance for the benefit of the doubt. what I like here is they are showing progress with their developments. most of the launched projects last year are either dead/abandoned or trying to survive in the market. But yes, their actual performance is really far from their promised speed. they might be working on it right now...

But are they going to provide this unrealistic 1 mln TPS or they understand already that this is impossible at current moment and happy with their 5k TPS?

I guess they can't complain about their solid 5 k TPS, the next step for High Performance Blockchain is to demonstrate a live-broad use of their network with big companies like UPS and ITCEC.

The last progress from the bi-weekly report:

They always said this was a long term aim but in my opinion they will reach this speed only thank to a lot of sidechains. Not with only one chain like the actual HPB mainnet.

Union Pay Smart is a subsidiary of Union Pay, the largest paiement provider in the world, larger than Visa and Mastercard combined.
http://www.unionpayintl.com/en/

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UnionPay
It is the largest card payment organisation (debit and credit cards combined) in the world offering mobile and online payments[2] based on total value of payment transactions, ahead of Visa and Mastercard.[3][4]

They will use HPB. Specifications are finished, dapp is being developed right now.

Union Pay will use HPB's network.

For the time being, it's far below last year expectations, but it's the fastest blockchain out there. They will improve their hardware...

One sure thing is that their mainnet will be broadly use, it's not (only) about nice little crypto cats:

After Union Pay Smart, which will launch their DApp on HPB this year, another huge partnership (world's top 500 enterprise) was announced today:

http://www.hpb.io/post/181

We have come to an agreement with ITCEC (China Electronic Technology Development Co., Ltd.) to build a new industrial city development and operation services platform based on our HPB MainNet!
ITCEC was founded in 1988, affiliated to China Electronics Corporation (CEC), which is a People's Republic of China's state-owned company and one of the largest producers of telecom equipment in China. Though the partnership, we will utilize synergies in our respective advantages, and work on resource integration in areas such as smart city, ecological park, comprehensive park, and industrial projects.

Mainnet launched last september.

Unlike competitors, HPB relies on a hardware solution, already deployed
The Blockchain Offload Engine (BOE)
https://hpb.io/boe

I view it as ASICS mining / GPU for scalability. It won't achieve 1M tps next week but you won't achieve faster speed than HPB without their hardware imo.

Current performance: 5000 TPS (10k within China), 150 nodes, 6s avg block time.

I didnt understand everything, but well, they promised 1 mln TPS and now this is just 5k TPS:

With a target of 1 million TPS and a 3-second confirmation time, HPB aims to become the standard for all major business applications in industries that require handling of billions of data points with extremely low latency.

1 mln and 5k is far from their promises.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbIoGidETGs&feature=youtu.be

On Tuesday, 19th February, High Performance Blockchain (HPB) hosted an Adopthon workshop in Amsterdam. While hackathons are generally more intended for developers, this workshop combined professionals from different industries to explore and understand blockchain technology. This is partly made possible by creating mixed groups of newcomers and people with more blockchain experience. With this combined expertise we were better able to conceptualize real life business problems and explore solutions from different angles.

Wang Xiaoming, founder & CEO of HPB gave a huge Q&A session on WeChat yesterday.

https://medium.com/@kryptodave2/q-a-with-wang-xiaoming-founder-of-hpb-c8c899a39270

some highlights:

"Q6: What was the idea behind translating the Ethereum documentation early on?

Three years ago, there was basically no blockchain-related information, and there were fewer technical aspects. On the one hand, it is about the need to understand the cutting-edge technology of the blockchain. On the other hand, it also hopes to let more people understand the blockchain and join the industry."

"Q10: You are called “Blue Lotus” in China. How did this title come about?

Thanks to those who are supporting me and for giving me such recognition with this title. In the early days of this branche, I have been doing blockchain technical knowledge evangelism. So I published 72 chapters and more than 30 issues of the “Mingyue” blockchain audio commentarys. I also wrote the book “Blockchain Development Guide” during that time and I believe that many of the branch’s technical geeks have gained an in-depth understanding of the blockchain through my articles and books in the early days.
In addition to the Blue Lotus: I like the song — Blue Lotus. It’s lyrics reflect the perseverance of quality, which is what our entrepreneurs should have"

Q21: How to break the blockchain performance bottleneck through hardware and software?

HPB combines hardware and software to improve performance and reduce node cost. We improve performance by making optimization of node performance, network optimization, and hardware and software optimization consensus algorithms.
Our team independently developed the BOE acceleration engine based on the FPGA chip. The full name is the Blockchain Offload Engine. This board can be understood as a blockchain dedicated server, on the one hand to improve performance, on the other hand also greatly enhance the stability of the entire network and node security.
The adoption of real application scenarios is the biggest problem we are going to solve. In addition, we are also attacking the network and storage problems, and already achieved a lot of positive results.

Yes you're right hpb plummeted in CMC (from 100 to 300+) it may be seen as an opportunity as the tech looks so promising and already functional.

Why? There were problems with marketing, as with many chinese companies. It's a caricature of the "Team focus on tech" meme. They want so hard to deliver first on their Union Pay DApp to prove their 5000+ tps...

This ANN thread got only one page, this is ridiculous regarding the scope of the project!

Also HPB is stuck on two major chinese exchanges (OKex & Bibox) (+Kucoin) but that can change fast...

First, our tech team is still working on optimizing our blockchain and the BOE hardware chipset. Being the world's first and to my knowledge only blockchain company that combines software and hardware, we are bound to experience some minor technical bugs that prevent us from reaching maximum performance. This is common for any novel technology. We will continue to iron these out, so that all node holders can maintain the network in a stable manner, and allowing us to reach higher network speeds. The next goal would be to reach a global stable throughput of 10000TPS.

Secondly, our tech team is working on expanding technical guides and manuals to make it more developer friendly to start building on HPB. At this moment all developers have access to our API, SDK, and source codes. However, our team believes that there should be more comprehensive guides to help developers get started. One important question for example is: 'How to move from ERC20 network to HPB'?

Thirdly, the tech team is working on expanding the HPB wallet. The idea is that over time the wallet evolves into a comprehensive app with various linked applications, information, news, community exchange, games etc. Simultaneously, community requested features are due to be implemented, such as night mode, price charts, different currency display etc.

Fourthly, the tech team is building new applications and MVPs that will be used for HPB's BaaS offering. This enables us to better cater towards observed market demands in China and overseas.

Fifth, HPB Scan is currently being completely redesigned. It will contain new features and an updated look.

Sixth, the tech team is collaborating with our different partners to further develop the dApps that are due for launch in 2019. These include Laya.Box, One Game, and Oath Protocol. Simultaneously, the tech team is also working on a very extensive project with UnionPay Smart, which we recently highlighted on our website in an article on Key Partnership Progress.

Seven, the tech team is also developing a web wallet. This will provide users an additional option to store and access their HPB coins.

I hope that this information gives you a better impression of what our tech team is working on and the direction into which HPB is planning to move towards. Please feel free to reach out any time to myself, @Julien_P or the admins here if you have any questions.

It is indeed really promising project,
Mainnet is started and mainnet mapping is in progress.
In case any of you would have problems with mapping my friend tell me of his experience:
He finally managed to make swap. He had problems with some errors:
  • 'Get blockchain exception' or sth and he  found out that this error was for insufficient balance of ETH (Although tx cost about 0.0005-0.001 ETH in fact, it reserve amount of full 0.009ETH and you have to keep such amount in your wallet)
  • You have to avoid some sort of keyboards - like samsung keybords because it gives many problems with decimal seperators

Looks really promising project its like EOS from china but its also have optimised hardware using FPGA not just optimised software. Parthnership with UnionPay also really interesting because UnionPay handle 80% electronic money transaction on china. But current HPB TPS is still limited 10k, iam wondering how much max TPS they can achieve after their main net launch .

High Performance Blockchain (HPB) is a new approach to solving one of the most critical problems facing all blockchains today: scaling

About HPB:
Low transaction speeds and excessive latency plague blockchain networks around the world, preventing widespread practical adoption by businesses and consumers.

HPB will solve this problem and meet true business needs by creating a platform designed to handle millions of transactions per second. It is consist of both hardware and software architecture, placing it ahead of current platforms which seek to solve the same problem through software-only solutions.

With a target of 1 million TPS and a 3-second confirmation time, HPB aims to become the standard for all major business applications in industries that require handling of billions of data points with extremely low latency.

CHIP-LEVEL ACCELERATION ENGINE
-   Build a public chain based on hardware accelerator chip drivers

DEEP INTEGRATION OF HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE
-   The accelerator chip can be highly customized, providing hardware acceleration support for the public chains with performance bottlenecks

HPBX MILLION-LEVEL CONCURRENT ALGORITHM
