Well it is true, it takes some time, but as you know, we at Neuralium are mostly French Canadians, and just like French Women, we love to make ourselves feel desired!  Because we know that the wait can be both sweet and insufferable at the same time; all the while knowing that in the end, the delay will have been more than worth it, and the reward so fantastic, so exquisite, that it will vindicate any pains taken during the interlude.   oh la la! quelle galère !!!  hehehe  Grin  I'm joking of course, this is all said in good spirits and meant to have a bit of fun in these otherwise tough times the world is going through.

so, Hello Crypto World!

It has been quite a while since I last posted on the crypto forums indeed; The need to update was not that much felt as we mostly live the day to day in company of our friends in the Discord and Telegram channels, and we offer constant and daily updates there. In these channels we have even made virtual friends, so we generally feel quite satisfied to just hang out there  Smiley . But still, now is time for a post addressed to everyone.

Well, to say that the world has changed since we last saw each other is quite an understatement! The said SARS2 virus is not only causing serious loss of life (my honest condolences to everybody hurt by the virus by the way), but it is also wreaking serious havoc on the world economies! We are now at level, or maybe even worst than the great depression era, and it keeps falling. What a time to be alive!

Well, these very events have turned our initially casual project of building the Neuralium into a life saving mission. While scientists are rushing to find a medical cure for the COVID19 disease, we at Neuralium are rushing to offer the economic cure to the world!  As the world markets keep falling, world currencies are sure to fall in dire spiral. If for nothing else, just the massive amount of free money the governments are now offering everyone to ease the pains of job losses are sure to create massive inflation, and this my friends is a great equalizer, and is sure to make us all equally much poorer.

So, it is with this in mind that we know that the Neuralium is now much more than just a crypto, it is now a life boat for the economy and for the people. The Neuralium will offer new asset options to the people when the currencies of the world spiral out of control; it may be what will allow people to get bread when currencies will not be able to anymore!

So, while it is true that development took more time than anticipated, we at Neuralium have been working hard and non stop to make sure it is the coolest crypto token out there. We added many new features that are sure to make it awesome!  Here are some of these features:

  • Multi Tiered Mining: of course, we have multi tiered mining, where different type of sharing nodes can mine with different sets of parameters, all with their own DIFF, their own bounties. A world first!
  • 3 way Gated Transactions: In order to facilitate sending transaction between untrusted parties, we added native and on the chain integrated three way gated transactions. This type of transaction is basically an integrated escrow where transactions are gated and completed safely and directly on chain to ensure complex transactions between three parties. This will be great to facilitate OTC trades, especially in the early days. In the future, public escrow providers can build businesses on the Neuralium ecosystem. Cool stuff!
  • Universal Block Bounties (UBB): we also decided to add and experiment with a completely new concept in crypto: Universal Block Bounties.  This new features is sure to make people talk quite a bit. How it works is that certain types of accounts, once created will receive a constant and mathematically predictable amount of Neuraliums at each blocks. This will ensure a constant basic Neuralium count daily. We will experiment with this and see how far we can push the experiment. If it works as intended, it may bring many many millions of people on the Neuralium, increasing the moral value of the token for all. In a time where the economy is in free-fall, this feature can potentially save lives!
  • A very cool new dark skin for mobile.
  • Multiple bug fixes.

So despite the wait, we are moving fast, and to be honest, we are now nearly ready to go to MAINNET. We are currently live on TESTNET and anyone can download either the desktop or mobile wallets and mine!  Right now, it is all live and many people have been mining as we speak.  While this happens, the team is gathering feedback and fixing the various bugs encountered until we are ready to hit MAINNET.

At this point, we expect to go live on MAINNET very soon. We don't want to set any specific date, but it will be very soon. Perhaps within the month of April. Because the Neuralium now has such an important mission, we want to make sure it is truly ready when we launch, and as we know, it is ready when it is.

On this, I will end with a very wise Chinese proverb I was once told:

Quote
“Have patience, the grass will be milk soon enough.”

so stay tuned and come try our TESTNET!  Any bugs you find, please report them so we can fix them before it happens in MAINNET.

And come and join us on Telegram and/or Discord. We have quite a good time over there Smiley

Hey Everyone,

Just a quick heads up to tell you that we are working SUPER hard to prepare for mainnet. We are running heavy load testing at the moment and addressing the 1001 loose ends before we go LIVE. stay tuned for the upcoming launch. Meanwhile the team may be somewhat silent, but that's because we are super busy making sure it is as perfect as such a small team can get it to be.

by the way, if you would like to see a bit more of us, here are the first 3 videos of the team retreat series.  More are to come in the coming days and weeks.

more to come soon...

Hello Everyone,

It's been a little while since I last posted and wanted to update you about everything we've been doing. For one, we are still very much on track for our MAINNET launch on the 30th of January 2020, in just about a month!  We have a lot of grounds to cover in order to get there and we are working around the clock to ensure everything is tip top for the launch. Fred has been working hard on mobile and both Android and iOS work pretty well now (iOS gave us quite some trouble to get it working, much more than we had anticipated). Just 3 days ago, we were actively mining on mobile and allowed it to run all night without any issues; it's fantastic to watch. We will release everything to testnet in early 2020. Other than that we have been running stability tests and since the beginning of the month, our internal devnet has been running without issues up to blocks 30,000+; we have reached essential stability.

In some bits of good news, one of our family investor has decided to double down on his investment after seeing our progress, which provided some much needed extra cash to bring in another developer. We are extactic to announce that Daniel Magues who was helping us part time as a friend up to now will be joining us full time starting on January 1st. This is AWESOME for us, we truly needed the help and the extra developer!  His arrival which is just in time for mainnet preparation will be extremely valuable. He will also be our official representation in Latin America since he is based in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Bienvenido Daniel!

During the month of December, aside from working on the code, we also took the time to prepare some videos that we posted in order for the public to get to know us. We organized a team retreat in the Laurentian mountains north of Montreal earlier this month where most of the team members finally got to meet each other for the first time! During this retreat, we also seized the opportunity to film some casual videos which we have already begun publishing on Youtube, Vimeo and Dailymotion. The idea is to keep publishing videos regularly until mainnet and beyond. Since we have a very limited budget, we could not afford fancy and expensive marketing, so we went for the round table type of videos. One of our new part time members (JEB) is a professional video editor, and he generously accepted to help us with our editing. The results speak for themselves considering we are all amateurs in front of the camera. Wink  At least now you get to see us in our genuine environment.

So, the first video is the team presentation which you can see here:

https://vimeo.com/379835255

and since it is the holiday season, we also took the time to look back on our year and discuss the effort it took to get here:

https://vimeo.com/381182735

So here we are, myself and the entire team of the Neuralium send you our best wishes and want to wish everyone a happy Holiday, and we will see you all in 2020 for a very exciting year!  At this point, everything is possible and we truly have a chance to shape the future...

happiness to all and see you next year!

Hello Everyone,

It has been a while since my last post, and I can tell you, the team sure has been busy! We’ve been working hard to bring this tech up to where it needs to be.  And we are VERY proud to be launching the 5th trial run in our TESTNET series of the Neuralium. This is the last trial where we bring new tech to the table; everything after that will be bug fixes, stability improvements and general polishing. In this version, the mobile mining is finally available! We are SO proud of this!  Since it is the first release, it is still very green, and it might not work very well this time around. But in any case, we are actively working on it and during the next week or so, it will get very robust. We will launch again by mid next week, and by then it should get pretty robust.

About mobile, the Android version is available right away for download on our website. The iOS version is ready and works, but it is much harder for us to release due to Apple’s many restrictions. In order to release on testflight, they have to review it, and this make take up to 24 hours. So there will be a little delay for iOS users. Sorry, it’s out of our control.

https://www.neuralium.com/download-testnet

For your pleasure, here are the general release notes for this release:

  • Mobile mining is finally available!  Android and iOS.
  • There has been dramatic improvements in performance in the core code. The sync is now orders of magnitudes faster. From our own tests, about 3x times faster than before.
  • Lots of improvements in the desktop wallet.
  • The desktop wallet now supports 31 languages. We should now cover the world idioms reasonably well. The translations are not perfect, but we will improve on them in the coming weeks.
  • An internal block explorer has been added to the wallet for convenience in the new “Tools” menu.
  • Many other bug fixes and improvements.

At this point in time, the desktop wallet should begin to have a certain stability. We are making serious progress there. For the mobile, obviously it is it’s first release with mining, and it is all still very green. It might not work very well, but know that we are actively working on it and it will get very robust in the coming weeks.

Finally, we performed battery usage tests again, to confirm our previous observations and we are happy to announce that it is official, we use nearly no energy at all to mine! While mining for 1 hour at 1 block per 20 seconds and winning every block (a very heavy usage scenario), our app used 2 mAh per hour! Here is the high level results of our testing:

Comparative (1 hour of use):

Neuralium active mining   2 mAh
Telegram app idle6.7 mAh
Spotify (10% volume)14 mAh
Web browsing647 mAh

(Tested on a pixel 1 phone.)

This means that our app, while mining uses 14% (0.14) of the energy Spotify app uses and 0.3% (0.003) of the the web browser.  I think the result speak for themselves!  Wink

So please give it a try, we are very excited about this launch.

By the way, we finally took the decision to launch our MAINNET on Thursday January 30th 2020!!! We are planning a big event in California, Montreal and Guayaquil. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.

see you soon and again, come chat with us!

Hey everyone,

Here is a little update from our side. Yesterday, Quebec (and northeastern america in general) was afflicted by a powerful rain storm with very strong winds. You can read about it here:  https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/quebec-weather-wind-1.5343979.

Many of us in the team have been affected in various ways, and some of us are still without power at the moment of this writing, nearly 48 hours after the fact.  This storm has hit us hard, and also our ability to work effectively. So while we wait for some of our key players to get their computers back, I have to push back our trial run V release to a bit further in the next week. This is a "cas de force majeur" as we say in french and quite out of our hands; the devastating strength of the elements  Undecided.  Hopefully we can release by next Tuesday or Wednesday.

thank you for your understanding and see you again soon...

Hey everyone, here is an important update from our side.

So the Neuralium team has finally determined the ideal MAINNET launch date.  Mark your calendars as it is now official: we are going LIVE to the world Thursday, January 30th 2020!!! (the exact launch hour remains to be determined as we coordinate the different timezones involved). We are incredibly excited about this date, it is the culmination of years of work and hard sacrifices to get to this point. Its a HUGE deal for us and we are totally psyched!!

This date will also give 3 solid months for our tiny team to fine tune our entire tech stack to make sure that it is ROCK solid and perfect for launch. There is no compromise here, we want it to be perfect.

Surrounding the MAINNET launch, we also have two more bits of good news.

  • In order for the world to get to know us a bit better (who we are, the story of the project, our thoughts on the future of crypto and the electronic financial markets, quantum computing, etc.), we decided to begin preparing a series of short videos that we will release starting mid December on various video platforms. The videos will build up to an informal documentary about us and the general ecosystem of the Neuralium. In terms of setting, we will be having our first team holiday party this December in order to get the team together for the first time. On this occasion, a friend of ours with video experience will film us throughout the party while enjoying a few drinks and this will become the videos to be released. We hope it will help everyone get to know us better!
  • The following remains to be fully confirmed as it is all very preliminary: We have some family in California and with their help, we managed to secure ourselves an awesome launch partner. The general idea at this time is to stream our MAINNET launch event LIVE from the awesome PnP Tech Center in Sunnyvale California, from Montreal Quebec (our home) and Guayaquil, Ecuador simultaneously. We hope this event can have a certain glamour to it and properly launch the platform we worked so hard to create to the entire world! For us, being french Canadians it is just so crazy exciting! We never thought we would get to do something like this someday, and we will work hard on this event to get it to be as awesome as we dream that it can be. Stay tuned for further updates on this matter as the story develops through the coming weeks.

Finally, a final word about MAINNET. Yes, we the devs are crazy excited to finally go live after so many hard sacrifices and living on next to nothing and accumulating large debts to realize our dream. Building this project has been very hard for us and seeing the dream finally become a reality is just incredible for us, and we are so proud, of course we like to advertise and talk about it. But keep in mind that our mainnet launch will have no ICO, no premine, no airdrop and as a company, we are not even allowed to mine ourselves or get any token unless they are given to us by public miners. We will ensure that we properly advertise the launch date so that everybody who cares has plenty of time to be ready and start mining on day 1 and no Neuralium tokens will come into existence before this moment. We want it to be 100% fair to everyone in the world; all the tokens go to the public and we take nothing for it. So, yes we are truly excited and we sure want to market our launch event as much as we can (who wouldn’t?). But keep in mind that in the end, we take nothing from anyone; This is as fair as can be! For us at Neuralium, mainnet is only the beginning of the LIVE adventure as we will have a lot of hard work to do to build this up into a healthy ecosystem that the whole world can enjoy. In the future, we will launch useful services that should allow us to finally make a living while improving the Neuralium experience for everyone. So MAINNET is only the beginning!

For now, please stay tuned for more information as it develops. Until then as a next step, we will launch Trial Run 5 the coming Friday, November 1st Tuesday November 5th around 20h EST.  Mobile mining will be available so see you then!

Hey everyone.

Well, our trial run IV is now completed and I have to say, it went REALLY well!  It was the first time that we were launching mobile and we weren’t quite sure how it would go and if it would even work on people’s phones around the world; but it turned out to work just fine. Sure we have a few minor glitches here and there but all in all, it’s a huge success. Not bad for a first try!  We also discovered that distributing an iOS app is much more difficult and limited than we thought. For the next run, we will try to make it available to as many people as possible, but apple does seem to limit how many deployments we can make. Android does not have such limits thankfully.

It was also the first time that we ran the blockchain for a true 5 days instead of the usual 24 hours. The extended period makes it a bit heavier on us with multiple day support, but it is worth it as we got witness the dramatically increased overall stability of the blockchain. We are making serious headway.

So now we are going back into dev mode and will work on the blockchain for the next week.  During this time, we will address every issue we found and try to make trial run V truly solid. It will be our last trial run, after which the team will reconvene and begin running the testing phases for much longer periods of time. These testing phases will bring us eventually into mainnet, which we now foresee around the end of January. We really want to ensure that we have the time to test properly and make sure that the blockchain is truly perfect for launch.

So have a great week everyone and stay tuned for our last trial run next week, which will include mobile mining. Cheesy

Dear friends,

It sure has been a long time since our last release; nearly a month!  Although it’s been quite some time, I can assure you that we have been very busy as this release is very heavy in new content. Most of this content is on the back end so it’s not all that visible, but I can assure you that it’s all there playing it’s part.

So this release is what we like to call a “cowboy release” and will be a bumpy run. Because of the sheer amount of new and untested stuff, it’s all very green, and will most probably not even work and crash; be ready! We still need some time to fix the many bugs remaining and polish everything. BUT, what is really nice is that we are now at 100% of our features and offering required for mainnet. From now on until mainnet, we will polish over and over until it is simply perfect. So you can see this release as a token of progress while we prepare for the better working one next week or so.

You can download the latest desktop wallets here: https://www.neuralium.com/download-testnet

Here are the essential release notes of this Trial Run IV:

  • We upgraded to a new core 3 runtime which should give us much improved performance.
  • We are finally ready to launch the first release of the mobile wallet for Android (tonight) and iOS (probably tomorrow). In this release, you can experiment with it for the first time, get a feel of how it will be when ready. The mining has been disabled in the mobile wallet for this release as we really want to observe the basics since it’s all very new. It will be enabled in the next trial run. The mobile also does not have to sync the blockchain since we use abstraction servers to abstract away the blockchain.  This means that for mobile users, everything is instantaneous and the wallet is always synced. There is no need to sync ever! simplicity and elegance is the name of the game here.

instructions to install the mobile wallet:

    • Go on the Neuralium download page and select the corresponding mobile tab.
    • Click on the download Link, you'll get redirected to the Microsoft App Center download page.
    • Download the app.
    • Install the app, you might have to allow installation from unknown sources.
    • Launch the app.
    • (Somewhere along the steps, you might have to register a Microsoft App Center account. You can register a new account or register with your gmail or live accounts if you already have one.)
  • Web api bindings to the mining pool have been added. This is a major addition and the main reason it took so long to create this release. The amount of work required to get this to work was substantial, but so are the gains!  The pool APIs allow us to completely eliminate the very serious gossip protocol limitations and we can now support an infinite transaction per second (we can scale infinitely)!  This will be very important with all the billions of mobile and IOT devices that can join our network and is used by default by the mobile wallet. Gossip protocol is still there and always will be for those who want it, it’s just a configuration switch away. One of the really nice advantage of these new APIs is that the port 33888 does not need to be connectable any more to mine (If you use gossip or want to be in the better miner tiers, it still must be).
  • We now officially support ARM devices.
  • We added a 4th wallet encryption algorithm: AES GCM 256. It’s supposed to be even safer than regular AES and faster for the encrypt / decrypt cycle, so it could give benefits for wallets, especially high performance ones like heavy VPS miners. Please note that we still default to XChacha40 for now. The algo choice is configurable by the users of course. (please take notice that we do not recommend encrypting your wallet at the moment. It needs more testing and we will get to it once we have the baselines covered.)
  • In our crypto token, no matter what, the miner ALWAYS selects the transactions (never the pool, so transaction selection is always democratic). Thing is since we support multiple miners per block and each miner selects it’s own transactions to insert into the block, then there is the possibility of collision on the choices and on tip allocation. So, we have an algorithm that allocates who gets to chose in which order programmatically and deterministically. This opens the door to transaction selection strategies by the miner to optimize their tip return. For example, by default we go for highest tip, obviously since it is the highest chances of offering higher returns. But, a more sophisticated miner could elect a different strategy. If everyone uses highest tip, then they will fight for the highest tipping transactions, and these transactions will be split mathematically between the miners.  all fine really, but it could end up reducing profits if everyone selected the same transactions and only receives tip for a few in the lot. So, a more sophisticated miner could elect to choose the lowest tipping transactions instead for example. Although these transactions may pay less, the miner may receive the tips for more transactions, potentially offering higher returns. Miners will be able to fine tune their strategy to maximize their mining returns.

This is just an example and the concept will be expanded upon a bit later, for now we support 5, though some remain unimplemented at the moment:

    • "Highest Tiping"
    • "Creation Time"
    • "Transaction Type"
    • "Transaction Size"
    • "Random"

So if you see these new mining options in the wallet, you will know what they are. They are still unbound for the moment so they can not be used yet; but they will be for mainnet.
  • Mining bounty tiers have been added.  In our system, we really want miners to share the blockchain and the mining rewards miners for sharing. So the way it works is, the more a miner shares, the more of a bounty it receives when mining a block. To enable this we offer 3 miner tiers: tier 3 are for the miners that dont share anything (like mobile for physical limitations) and receive the smallest bounty when finding a block. A non sharing node can still mine but will receive less. The second tier is for miners sharing digests THEN blocks. Finally the first tier is for sharing digests AND blocks. the tier verification is performed by asking question in each election which only a miner with the blockchain can answer to prove tier. This will result in a strong incentive for blockchain sharing, and result in a much healthier p2p and better distributed blockchain ledger.
  • The block explorer UI has been updated and is now much nicer and much more readable. You can find it here: https://testexplorer.neuralium.com
  • Multiple performance improvements and bug fixes have also been made. The code should be much more stable as well as the blockchain sync.

So this is it and we hope you will enjoy it!   The next trial run V will be held near the end of next week. It should be our last trial run, after which we will go on with the longer term runs which will lead us into mainnet somewhere mid to end of November. We will also work on more detailed battery usage statistics for mobile as we have already made optimizations that should result in even lower power requirements for mobile mining.

This is exciting, stay tuned for our better release next week and come to chat with us on Discord and Telegram.

Hey everyone,  here is an update from our side.

First, please take notice that we had to push back the trial run IV launch by a few days due to an unforeseen issue in the mobile. We have now fixed the bug and would be ready to launch now, but we now know that the weekend is a bad time to do so. Most people are out enjoying their lives, as they should be, so we will be waiting until monday and further refine it until then. This means that I will post again next monday evening.

Now, on the news side, we got the mobile to run on our phones today and it looks awesome!  even more importantly, we managed to do battery usage benchmarks and statistics, so that we could finally give you some hard objective numbers about our mining energy use. is it truly green? Well, ladies and gentlemen, it is!!

look at this beauty we came up with today:

Neuralium mining battery usage statistics

It's pretty amazing. when the screen is off, the baseline usage is 55.4 hours of use. When mining on the wifi, the phone has 54.1 hours of use!  when using LTE, it becomes 51.4 hours. it really uses nearly nothing.  Shocked and keep in mind, this test was a maximum use scenario, because the phone was the only one mining and thus had the lowest DIFF possible, so it was actaully mining every blocks. In real life scenarios, you obviously don't mine every block, so the battery use will really be much lower than that. It's also why LTE uses more power, because at every mined block it signs the message cryptographically and sends it on the network which take further battery use. On wifi, the network send is much more efficient and we can see that battery use is near nothing. Even the mining takes less power than the network usage. That's pretty awesome in itself!

we also came up with other stats. Basically, our mining on wifi takes 1.2 mAh for one hour of use. On LTE, it uses 2.0 mAh for an hour of use (again the maximum use scenario). Browsing with Chrome used 5.45 mAh.   This means that our mining uses 0.22% of web browsing energy use on wifi and 0.44% on LTE.  Less than half the energy required to browse the web!    Grin

With the screen on, the battery usage drops a bit more, but it is not the mining, it's actually the GUI interface with all its update events and our all white design which uses more power to lit. In the future releases, we will optimize it as much as we can to reduce battery load to the bare minimum.

well there you go guys, the Neuralium mining really uses nearly nothing at all. True "on device" mobile mining is now officially a reality. Those who have tried our desktop wallet know that when they check their CPU usage during mining, they see it at about 1-2% usage no more, which is the baseline and mostly caused by the gossip protocol, not the mining itself. It can not use any less power, we reached the maximum that is possible to achieve short of doing nothing at all on the device.

So yes, cool stuff indeed!  Stay tuned for the next trial run next monday Tuesday evening; it will include the mobile wallet but without mining. The version with mining will be release on the next trial tun about a week and a half later.

have a great weekend everyone!

edit: made a mistake, did not realize Monday was Canadian Thanksgiving; whole team is off. Release will be Tuesday instead.

Hey Everyone!!

thanks for prompting me, I appreciate it.  before I say anything further, let me set the record straight, Neuralium is going to be huge, and we are 100% sure to launch, so it's no contest on that matter and please don't ever doubt it; we just make sure to take the time it takes to build a quality product; it's not so simple on a small team with minimal resources on a fully new engine; everything remains to be debugged. Smiley

Now it's true that the latest release is taking much more time than anticipated. I avoided writing too much on this forum as I don't want to "spam" and be annoying. So i tried to reserve posts for big events. but you are right, maybe I should post more often. I usually try to keep everyone updated in discord and telegram but I will ensure a more constant followup here too.

So, without further ado, here is a quick update on our side.

The next trial run release is huge for us, and definitely took more time than anticipated. the delay is caused by 3 main reasons:

1. We will be releasing the mobile wallet on the next release, this is very exciting. In order to do so, we had to merge in the mobile components into the mining pool, and this was not so simple. We tried to keep the pool secure, and in order to do this, it did make things more complicated. The good news its that it is mostly completed now and we are fixing the last remaining bugs.

2. The release of dot net core 3.0 a little over 2 weeks ago got us to spend a substantial amount of time in the upgrade. We have been very anxious to upgrade for many months now, mostly because of the important performance improvements it offers to the node. But as the saying goes when we live on the cutting edge of technology: "cutting edge, bleeding edge". A brand new platform was bound to have bugs and incompatibilities, and we hit this wall mostly when migrating the xamarin mobile wallet. We wasted quite a bit of time before realizing the tech was too green and we had to remain on the proven stable 2.2 platform. Since the server node is on 3.0, we had to ensure compatibility between the different platforms. (it's not so simple)

3. I also had some personal events last week which caused me to be very distracted in my development activities, and I lost many days in efficiency because of this. Good thing is that its all over now and I am now back full steam.

so there you go guys, all these events together got our release to be quite a bit delayed, but we are making serious headway. we are 100% sure to release trial run IV this week. the exact release day remains to be confirmed, but I think either Wednesday or Thursday is very seriously possible. Of course when we do, I will post here again to list the release notes.

thanks everybody for your support and your patience, and know that our silence is only a sign that we are VERY busy working hard to get this working. we are so busy, we don't have much time left for chatter, but we are there. If you ever have questions or inquiries, you can always come and see us in discord or telegram, we are always prompt to answer and be of service.

have a great week and see you again in a few days for our next trial run!

I see on Telegram that the trials of the testnets are proceeding fine - even though for longer than expected. It would be good to post regular updates also on this forum. Otherwise part of the community could lose track of Neuralium which is a pity since Neuralium currently looks as an extremely promising project.

Ok, we finally got through our trial run, and this time, with no major problems! The system is starting to have a certain stability, we are very much making some serious headway towards a mainnet. Although it went well, we did hit a few snags, some are now fixed but still present in the online version.

We will do another trial run IV at the end of next week. until then, we will fix bugs that were reported to make sure it starts to get more seriously stable. We will also launch the first version of the mobile wallet during the next trial run. It might not have mining enabled for the first version as this requires a bit more testing on our part, but at least you will get to give it a spin, see where we are headed with that.

Some people have successfully mined on a raspberry PI yesterday, so now we know it can be done for a fact, and of course, typical of our mining algorithm, it uses no power at all, only the P2P activity. Actually, one member of our team is currently tasked with coming up with hard numbers about the energy usage of mining on a cellphone, we should have this by next week. So this will give hard numbers and facts about what we can expect of mining on our tech with a cell phone. Stay tuned for the results.

so now, we disappear again until the end of next week, working hard to make this stronger and better. stay tuned and have a great weekend=> week.

Well crypto friends,

It's been about a week since that last time we talked and also our last launch attempt; you must have been wondering where we were!!  well, we were very busy, I can promise you this. We labored every day, 15 hour days non stop since then to get the code as solid as we could. This is our second take on the trial run III, which will run from tonight until tomorrow evening. It could still very much crash, so keep your helmets on.

So, last week we found that the code was not that stable, and on top of that we discovered some annoying memory leaks that needed addressing. I begun to hunt those leaks down, and it made me realize that the memory allocation system needed a very serious overhaul. And thus, this is what I undertook. It was seriously intense, because changing the memory model so late in the game causes the entire system to be jeopardized. Components that were tested and well working for weeks were brought back to their knees. Crashes everywhere, or worst down the road, tricky and rare multi-threading bugs that only happen in rare cases... I have to say it, the last week WAS HELL!  But we prevailed!! Nothing will stop us!! We will fight until the end!

Added to that, we also fixed multiple bugs in the node and the wallet, optimized the RPC network protocol for performance and layed the groundwork for the mobile wallet. The console CLI code is now also published for server applications. Other than that, we now also support ARM and raspberry PIs. mine literally anywhere!

So, I managed to attain a stability that is beginning to get interesting. Not perfect yet, this is very much still a TESTNET, but its getting seriously better.

Feel free to download the latest code here: https://www.neuralium.com/download-testnet

also, come chat with us on discord!   https://discord.gg/D8GfEQG and telegram https://t.me/neuralium_chat

Now the next step is going to be the mobile wallet and mobile mining.  Starting tomorrow, I will regroup with the mobile team and we will prepare the wallet for it's first testnet. hopefully, it will be part of the next trial run IV in a few days. Otherwise the next.  things are getting much more serious now. We are making headway and now aiming for an end of October/early November MAINNET release. It's close!

stay tuned for the next steps and please enjoy our trial run III, take II; we sure worked hard for it!

next update coming tomorrow...

Hello everyone,

well, its been an intense 4 days I can assure you of that. We are now launching the trial run III of our Neuralium crypto token software which will go for 24h until tomorrow evening. It's a big release with a lot of core changes. Im not sure how it's going to behave, it may not be the most stable of our releases, but there certainly is a lot of new under the hood.

make sure you download the latest version here:

https://www.neuralium.com/download-testnet

For the user experience, you might not see a lot of new, since we made improvements in the core code and not so much in the wallet itself. For one, the network stack has been refactored and the performance problems have been fixed. It is now MUCH more stable and uses much less computer resources to run the network. We also enhanced the POE mining to be able to question a node, to confirm that it truly has the blockchain for sharing. This will impact the bounty that it will receive. I explain:

Our mining is meant to be completely fair. It doesn't matter which machine you own, where you are, how much resources you have, everyone can mine the same and have the same opportunity to mine a block. But we do have tiered bounty allocation which is based on the level of sharing. It would be unfair for a node who shares the entire blockchain to get the same reward as a node who shares nothing. So, nodes who share all the blocks since inception will get the first tier bounty. Those who share since the last digest will get the second tier and those who share nothing will receive the third tier.  This way, we ensure that nodes share as much as possible, and we reward them for their effort. Completely fair!  When a node is elected in a block and sends the transactions to include, it has to answer two questions. it can only answer them if it has the blockchain on hand. based on the answers, it will be allocated to a bounty tier. For the first time, the decentralized peer to peer ledger has an economic incentive to share as much as possible which will result in a very healthy p2p and a well distributed ledger. Smiley

Other than that, there are various other bug fixes, memory leak fixes, etc. It should run much better overall but could still crash if we missed anything in testing. Due to various circumstances, we did not have as much time to test as we would have liked so it's still very green software.

Finally, thanks to an awesomely dedicated team of users in our Discord channel, we also now officially support ARM for both linux and windows IOT. We have successfully run a node on a Raspberry PI. Can you imagine, mining on a PI without any effort?  pretty awesome! IOT here we come...

So, let's see how this release goes for the next 24 hours, meanwhile we continue our work. We are preparing the mobile wallet wallet release which could cause a delay in the next trial run. Since we are a bit unsure still, we will have a trial run IV possibly this weekend or early next week. Hopefully we will be able to move to longer sessions after that.

thank you everyone for your trust and let's make something new and great! Cheesy

if you want to chat with us, come to our discord channel, there are some great people there and we are always happy to answer questions or discuss crypto.

On paper Neuralium looks super cool. Proof of Election seems to make more sense than PoW and PoS, at least in theory. I'm very curious to see how mainet will perform.

Hey everyone,

Quick update to inform that development is going along well. All the big refactors have been implemented. The network stack fixes are making A HUGE difference, we are testing and the performance gain is quite dramatic; totally worth it. For the mining blockchain questions, it was very far reaching, so it requires a lot of testing to make sure its all as solid as should be.  We are running the software through various tests, its going along well as we are seeing great stability. We are also preparing for the mobile wallet launch, so that takes a bit of our time too.

Other than that, we have friends that are attempting to compile the node code for ARM and raspberry PIs. Pretty cool stuff and we eagerly await the results on this endeavor. Can you imagine, mining on PI?  wow...

Tomorrow we will continue testing, and fix all the little bugs we accumulated from your comments. We will push back the trial run III by a day to ensure we have enough time to do everything.

So, please take notice that trial run III will begin Thursday evening at 19h00 EST.

thank you, we continue on our work...

Thanks for the suggestion meanwords, added it to the first post.

here is a little status update on our side:  I fixed the network stack yesterday, it was easier than I had anticipated. Now im beginning to merge in so mobile mining features. I explain:

im merging two components today:

1. web (https) mining

In our mining, we can have thousands of elected miners in a single block. This will do wonders for variance and general public use of the token. The problem is that if we get millions and millions of mobile phones, ITO devices and more on the network, it will kill the gossip protocol. A gossip protocol is a very inefficient communication method, and severely limits the amount of transactions that can be processed per second. the whole network is limited by the smallest common denominator in the chain. So the web registrations allows mobiles to mine and avoid the gossip protocol to push their election messages, talking with the mining pool directly on http services instead. This will allow a much greater amount of people on the network, and by consequence a much more popular and more widely used crypto token. This is good for all of us and the moral value of the token. Anyways the election messages are of low importance, and would only congest the gossip for no real benefit. The gossip remains fully available if required, it has a configuration to turn it on/off.

2. Tiered mining

In our mining, we essentially reward nodes for sharing the blockchain. You share the blockchain, you deserve your bounty. Thats the reason that port 33888 much be open to mine. The thing is that mobile devices will not be able to share the blockchain as they wont have the blockchain locally at all. Mobile devices will talk with special servers that will index the blockchain and extract just the transactions that are relevant to that mobile account (the reason is because of data caps and battery limits, mobile devices can not handle the full blockchain sync). This means that the mobile wallet will not have to sync at all, making it dead simple to use for regular users. Even if they can't share, obviously we still want people to mine on mobile, so to keep things fair to full nodes, we have tiered mining.

When a POE election begins, it will contain two questions. one "easy", one "hard". These questions will be about the blockchain. i.e. "in block 222, what is the transaction Id of the second transaction?". If the node answers the question correctly, we know it had the blockchain locally at hand.  if it can't, we know it did not.

also, the easy questions will be for nodes that share "digest then blocks" (the easy form). The hard question will be for nodes that share "digests AND blocks" (the complete share). Nodes that share blocks will also be expected to open their port 33888.

now when the bounties are allocated, they are mathematically and deterministically split among the elected, based on if they could answer the questions or not. Full sharing node will get the higher tranche of the bounty. after all they share the whole thing, they deserve more.  Then will be easy sharing nodes, with a bit less but still more than nodes that dont share at all, who will get the last tranche of the bounty. this way, the mining is absolutely fair to all, while allowing everyone to mine no matter their means while still encouraging a healthy p2p and decentralization of the public ledger.

I'm merging these changes today. we are still set for trial run III Wednesday evening, stay tuned guys.

Hey everyone,  well that's it; we completed and survived our second trial run. I can't believe it, nothing actually caught on fire, wow.  Shocked

Not that we did not have a few hickups but overall it was reasonably stable and i think a successful run. Also the guys testing the system have been amazing. thank you all for trying it and especially to everyone who reported bugs.

Here are my observations on the system at this point.  The overall code seems to work very well. The mining also works, which is great news. I did identify more serious issues in the performance of the network stack. At this point, I think that it is our Achilles heel. We actually had many nodes on the network during the last 24 hours, it was a popular run! Being a p2p it's impossible to know how many joined, but on the nodes that I put up I saw the connection pools fill up completely. And this is where the problems happened. I noticed that under heavy load, the network chokes.

the good news is that I know why. A design choice that seemed like a good idea 10 months ago is proving to be a bad idea under load. (launching a thread per gossip messages. they end up filling the workflow queue and on weaker machines like containers, the CPU chokes. then it starts skipping message frames and all hell breaks loose with it's peers since we start having timeouts and losing messages. this hurts the sync and some peers lose connection entirely).

the good news is that this is the only major issue that I spotted. the rest are minor bugs that we can fix in time. SO, at this moment in time, here is how I see the schedule happening.  I will need to retire from public life starting tomorrow for 3 full days to refactor the network stack and eliminate these issues. so you might not hear much from us because I need to focus to concentrate otherwise I wont get anything done. It might be silent, but that's because we are working hard to improve the code.

Then, we will then launch a third and last trial run of 24h next Wednesday evening to test the new stack on the network load. then, depending on the results, we will reevaluate and decide if we are ready to move on for a full week to test for better longevity.

voila. before I close and disappear for 3 days, I want to add the following:

A VERY, VERY sincere thank you to everyone who trusted us, installed and tried out our node. Its really amazing that you were part of this and we REALLY appreciate it. And more than anything, we appreciate the trust that you extended us; and we want to live up to it. so yes, thanks Smiley

see you soon.

thats cool!!

For the diff, we have a big advantage other tokens don't have. Since our mining works differently (its a mathematical election), we can actually have multiple thousand of miners per block. we tested 10,000 no problem in our unit testing systems, but we know we can go higher too. Im not saying we will always go that high since it would choke the gossip, but its technically possible.

this means that variance will be much better on our token than any other. Of course in the future we will have special mining pools for the purpose of redistributing the bounties.

for the counter I had not thought of that, but we will see if we can do, its a good idea. In the meantime, the first thing for us is to stabilize the system, this is our top and only priority, so we dont know when we will be ready for mainnet. but we are pretty confident it will be in October.

thanks Fonship, you will absolutely be able to mine from day one.  We really want to make it fair to all, so we will advertise very clearly the start day and time, when we feel confident enough to launch. so everyone will have time to prepare for the 0 hour.  other than that, our mining is really without any particular needs so if you have a computer even an old laptop to old mobile phone, you can mine. piece of cake really.

even if you are already mining other coins, you can mine ours, because they can fit on the same computer no problem, our token takes virtually no resource at all so they can coexist. so mine twice with our stuff Smiley

anyways, the takeaway is that the launch will be well advertised so you wont miss it. hope to see you there!

this might be worth watching here. waiting for the mining date announcement! lets hope that the difficulty will not rise exponentially and let other small miners get something of this coin.
are you going to put your countdown timer on your website as it might be easier for others to track this project? on my part, i will bookmark your site so not to forget. because of so many projects you tend to forget a lot of them.

Hey everyone,

ok, our first trial round went pretty well all things considered, we are now ready for our TESTNET trial run II. The trial will run for 24 hours after which we will again stop it all and fix bugs that were encountered.

you can download the wallet here:

https://www.neuralium.com/download-testnet

make sure you get the latest version as the old ones wont work anymore.

Ok, I gotta warn you, figuratively speaking, this thing will surely catch on fire!. So make sure to keep your helmets on and bring marshmallows, we can grill them on the burning node and make a bonfire.   Grin

On a more serious note, we made various fixes. One of the most prominent is your fellow peer nodes will now report if they can see your p2p port 33888 open and you can view this consensus result in the wallet gui next to the mine button in the mining tab. This will help to know if you configured it correctly for mining.  if you do not intend to mine, the sharing port does not need to be open (though remember that in p2p, it's always good etiquette to have this port open at all times,  be it neuralium, bitcoin, ethereum or which other, so it really should always be accessible no matter what). Other than that we fixed the issues with block hashing that killed the sync last time.

We are always available if anything. if there are troubles, we will scramble to fix them. hopefully you get to mine. come and see us in the chats if there is anything.

crossing fingers...  Cheesy

N.B.:  some people were wondering if we only ship the GUI wallet. The wallet download actually does contains the console daemon in it's folder called "neuralium". Though the cli interface is not yet ready, it will be ready for mainnet.

Come and chat with us, we love to talk crypto and have smart discussions about it.

And between Telegram and Discord, im not aware of the politics between them, so for now we will run with the two platforms and see which one the people "vote for", and go from there.

Hey Everyone!  here is a status update on our TESTNET progress.

so, as you know we launched a first trial run yesterday. We hit a few hickups but nothing major, the essential core of the tech is working.

First I want to say a sincere thank you to everyone that comes and chat with us, and tries our very alpha software. you guys are the discoverers!   Cool

The general response to what we do is pretty awesome. Somebody said that our tech looks alien, which I think is the best kind of compliments. Our tech stack is entirely new, not a fork of anything, and I worked hard to make sure that it was different than the rest.  Others have successfully mined and saw that it really uses no CPU at all. actually, any CPU usage you see is just the p2p gossip validating cryptographic messages. the mining in it self is invisible. pretty cool.

And yes, I saw the previous comment, absolutely, im making it official that the very first member of the public to mine Neuraliums in TESTNET was borderline from Italy. Now I have to take my Godfather voice to say "Michael,  bene, bene..."   Grin

So, the bug we had yesterday was a bad offset in the key index, causing keys to loaded wrong and because of this gossip messages were failing validation. It is now fixed.

so the testnet is still going actually, so you can still try it right now. just make sure to download the latest wallet and delete the .neuralium folder in your home directory to force a resync.

today, I will continue fixing bugs, and getting ready for trial run II, tomorrow evening

Hey TimeTeller, you are absolutely right about the missing references. I've been overwhelmed with the huge amounts of things to prepare to be ready to present myself here, so I have a lot of loose ends to close. I will try to have the references in by Mainnet. the whitepaper is meant to be alive and evolving as we go.

as for performance, I positive that it will be even better than you think. That's because we've been running it here for a while, we know what it can do. We also have the mobile wallet which is going to be pretty amazing. Launches in testnet in about 2 to 3 weeks.  that will get interesting.

thanks!  I'm really happy, there seems to be a lot of interest in what we do. and it's just the beginning.

So, our Trial run I is now online and will be so for the next 24h. It could be a bumpy ride so put your helmets on; its our very first public trial and we are not quite sure how it will behave with a live network. but it's fun...  Smiley

you can download the wallet here:

https://www.neuralium.com/download-testnet

Please note that in order to mine, you must open your p2p port 33888.  Open it in your firewall and forward it to your node. If a node is not connectable from the outside, it wont obtain any bounty when mining. (a node not online doesn't get rewards, it's just fair for all to be nice and share.).

Also, since we are getting a lot of questions, the white paper is available here:

https://www.neuralium.com/neuralium-whitepaper.pdf

and a FAQ here for your convenience:

Its a bit amateurish right now as we are scrambling to launch, but we are putting ourselves together with the small team we have. please stick with us, we intend to go far, hopefully together Smiley

hey, thanks!  im happy to see that it generates some interest. I can tell you, a lot of work went into it!

If I can help give some perspective, there is really nothing unsettling about the easy mining. What we are doing really is using crypto in a different manner, that allows to unlock tokens in different way. Its just as solid and safe as regular mining (and provable) but without any computing effort. It's like a mathematical filter.

The end result though is for the end user, you start mining and your computer mines on every block, but uses no cpu at all. The cpu usage you see is actually from the p2p gossip message exchanges (message validation).

I just got up, it's morning here, so im catching up right now, but I hear some people already started mining, so its working at least somewhat on testnet. we will launch official trial run I later tonight though, so it will be a bit more solid by then. Because its a brand new blockchain, everything is new, and everything needs to be tested and debugged, it's a lot of work. but, its unique! (not a copy of anything).

The Neuralium is quite simply the green and universal mining future of cryptographic tokens. Entirely programmed from scratch and built on a post-quantum cryptographic core, it is a completely new evolutionary stage of crypto tokens. It is robust, innovative, super simple to use and has a fully decentralized peer-to-peer network. The main attraction is its brand new mining technology called Proof of Election (POE). It gives it the superpower to mine with minimum computational effort while electing potentially thousands per block. With Neuralium, mining is virtually effortless and green! Gone are the days of scorching the Earth mining for decimals of a token. Neuralium runs on all primary desktop platform and will soon be available for mobile on Google Play and Apple App Store.
Neuralium is entirely fair to all. No single person or entity has the ability to dominate its returns by having more money, or access to cheaper electricity. Everyone can efficiently mine Neuralium tokens with an equal opportunity of return for each miner on their regular home computer. Offering completely optional transaction fees, it launches with absolutely no premine and no ICO/STO.

Economically, it provides intelligent variable rate blocks which continuously adapt to optimize the network load, educated economic policy and guided inflation/deflation. Entirely immune to the 51% attack that threatens most other cryptocurrencies, and protected by a benevolent custodianship, it provides a much safer and protected ecosystem for the users. Each block can elect multiple miners and all these elected miners fairly get to choose the transactions that will be confirmed into the block they mine; it is a real and true technological democracy. Neuralium will supports complex accounts, multiple cryptographic keys, independently encrypted wallet, stronger cryptography, 2-factor authorizations and true joint accounts. Miners can also recover lost accounts and have the ability to change their keys if forgotten or stolen. Any stolen tokens can be recovered through the innovative transaction unwinding system and by the integrated SAFU account. Neuralium can also operate multiple parallel blockchains at the same time to enable complex systems along with many more exciting features. Neuralium will soon become the strongest, safest and most trusted crypto token on the market, and we will work hard to get there!

What makes Neuralium Unique:

  • An entirely new and unique code base, all coded from scratch. It is like no other.
  • 100% post-quantum cryptography ensures it is future proof.
  • The first blockchain to support on chain account activity correlation.
  • Safety comes first: fully resistant to the infamous 51% attack.
  • Time is money: one of the fastest if not the fastest transactions on any blockchain: up to one block per second if desired on a fast network.
  • Secured accounts and funds
  • Save the Earth while enabling humanity’s new economy.
  • Green mining technology: Uses no more power than a regular desktop application. It is so light in resources requirements that one can mine on an old mobile phone , IOT devices and even set top boxes.
  • Anyone can mine: as easy as downloading the Wallet app, create an account, click the start mining button and that’s it! Your PC will do the rest.
  • Much better return variance thanks to potentially multiple thousands of elected miners per block.
  • Supports a new and innovative type of mining pool.
  • Optimal and small blockchain size; ability to shrink the blockchain on demand using digests to prevent infinite growth over time.
  • Fully optional transaction fees; it’s fair for everyone.
  • Fair play: Absolutely no premine, everyone gets a fair chance from day 1, and no ICO/STO. A parallel and independent security token blockchain may be launched in the distant future to fulfill that role.
  • It supports multiple parallel blockchains. Over time, many new features will be added to make this the premium of crypto token among them all.
  • Verified 3rd party ecosystem ensures the very high quality of product offering on our blockchain.
  • Ready for Anti Money Laundering (AML) regulations. The Neuralium is tough on crime!
  • Built on the new and amazing licensed Neuralia blockchain platform.

A personal word from the founder:

Hello, I’m JD, the CEO and founder of the Neuralium. I would like to tell you a bit more about my story and how the events of my life brought me to create the Neuralium as it is today.

First, I am a French Canadian (you can talk to me in English, Spanish or French!) living in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and I have been working in the FinTech world for a couple of years now, gaining experience in team management, software development and architecture. I was introduced to cryptocurrencies with Bitcoin in 2010. Although I was not a very active member at the time, I was intrigued and did mine on my home CPU when it was still a reasonable thing to do, and again on my low power GPU a bit later before it moved out of my reach into FPGAs and then ASICs. Though the amount of bitcoin I had was very small, my wallets from those days are now long lost since I did not know that it would gain so much value in the future and lost them in my OS upgrades. (Doh!) Through the years though, I continued to follow cryptocurrencies with interest, especially in 2014/2015 when alt coin mining became a big thing. In those days, I had begun a project to create a new crypto exchange (in those days there was practically only cryptsy) but finally let it go since I was very busy on a personal construction project and family matters at the time. Of course, today I regret not having finished the project, but it was the right decision at the time (and hindsight is always 20/20).

At the time of the altcoin booms, I ran a mining rig with 16 Radeons R9 290X in my basement. Being in Canada in the cold winter, I remember at the time leaving a window open the entire winter long. Frigid air (-20 degrees Celsius(-4 F)) would constantly pour over the hot graphic cards to cool them down, and yet the air temperature in my basement was a constant 32C (90F). Heating in my house is usually assured by an electrical furnace pushing air into the air ducts, and in general, the heating is very uneven. One room is comfortable, and another will be freezing. Well that winter, I did not turn on my furnace a single time! Hot air from the basement would rise through the floors and my dwelling was perfectly heated by the 16 graphics cards (despite having a window fully open). That winter, the ambient temperature had never been so comfortable. It is that year that I realized and became shocked at the insane amount of electricity POW mining was consuming. If my humble 16 graphics cards were producing enough heat to keep a house warm in the Canadian winter with a window open 24/7, then the entire world over we must truly be killing the planet with mining. And then were sown the seeds of my obsessive search for a greener alternative to POW mining and a fairer alternative to POS and DPOS.

A little bit over two years ago during my ongoing research for new solutions, it dawned on me that I could do something different with crypto tokens and I began to draw out the great stokes of what would eventually become the Neuralium. It is then that I established the basic architecture and started the project that led me here.

Throughout the development cycle, I elaborated multiple new ideas that eventually made it into the current platform, but the true core tenet of what I wanted to achieve from the beginning was to make a crypto token that is both Earth friendly and that my father could use. This was my goal, and I found out that it is not so simple to accomplish! Existing crypto currencies do their thing really well, but for an average computer user (think parents or a grandparents), they are way beyond reach. For them, mining the average cryptocurrency is absolutely impossible. Setting up a complex mining machine, installing hackish software, running a sync is just a deal breaker, and cryptos remain in the realm of the techno elites. We could argue that they could use cloud services and wallets, but how can they trust any of these websites? More often than not they get hacked by ill intended 3rd parties and this explains some of the worst hacks in the crypto space. And thus, I endeavored to make something my father would find usable.

It is on this path that I ended taking some decisions that brought us to the unique architecture of the Neuralium. One of my most influential experience I had was between my father’s operating system preferences versus mine. I myself am a stout Linux user. I use Linux every day, I respect its philosophy of freedom and openness, and I evangelize the operating system to everybody that I know. But my father is a Mac and Apple user. I tried to show him Linux and how great it is, and he did acknowledge that it seems great, but there is ultimately no way to take him out of the Apple experience. He is happy there, and it does what he wants. He desires the tightly integrated and highly curated experience that Apple offers. He wants his machines to “just work” between themselves, connect seamlessly between themselves and give him this overall perfect computing experience (from his perspective). Apple makes sure that the software in the app store is safe, so he does not need to worry about it. And when I think of it, who am I to judge his preferences? Diversity is great and I am all for it. He has his tastes and needs, and I have mine. Everybody is happy and we all live together peacefully, celebrating our differences.

It is with this philosophy in mind that I created the Neuralium. I wanted to give my father and other people like him an easy to use, curated, safe ecosystem of crypto tools that would give them the simple, safe and frictionless experience that they really need. Ideally, they will just flip it on, and it will just work. And this is the reason that I made the choice to use a custodian-based block emission architecture. Decentralization is a nice utopia and I cheered for it for a long while (actually, the very first version of the Neuralium was a decentralized DAG inspired by IOTA until I realized the multiple serious conceptual problems it has). But my experience has shown to me that in reality, they all very much become centralized as they tend towards greater success. So, the result is that they have none of the curated experience of a trustworthy custodian, but all the disadvantages of decentralization (read here, the lawless “far west”). Some people want this, and it is fine, but for less sophisticated users, they want something safer . So, for the Neuralium, I decided to ditch the hypocrisy and go full out with it. The Neuralium has a benevolent custodian that serves to ensure that the ecosystem is safe and runs smoothly. It is this very feature that opens up so many new possibilities that our target user base is asking for and there will be no apologies for it. It is intended to make things better for the average user base with no compromises.

The Neuralium is intended to become the “Apple” of crypto tokens. I have enough experience in crypto tokens to know that it will not be for everybody, and not everyone will like this. But then again, for these people, the existing technologies may be just fine. Bitcoin and BitcoinCash are awesome in their own respect, and they serve their niche. Good for them to exist, and the Neuralium will live in another plane of existence, servicing another type of users. For these users, the Neuralium will offer a higher quality user experience, with better integration, a curated and safer third-party ecosystem and easier to use tools. The mining has also been created explicitly for this purpose. The fruit of my research in creating an Earth friendly mining solution, I invented the Proof of Election (POE) algorithm so that mining would be simple, and could be done on any computer, mobile, IOT device, etc. anywhere, at pretty much no electrical cost and entirely fair to all. All of a sudden, an average user with no particular computer savviness can now simply install an app and mine! And that's it, it’s that simple! It is true democratization of crypto technologies. Over time, we will improve our ecosystem of applications and tools with new products in order to create a high-quality environment for average users who want to use a crypto token in safety and with ease of use. And now I know I succeeded; I made a crypto token that my father can and wants to use. (he is also the one who thought of the name “Neuralium”, so it carries for me a special meaning that our target prototype user thought enough of it to name it.)

Now, I want to say that though the years in crypto, I’ve witnessed firsthand a large amount of crypto scams. For example, I personally saw the 2014 Worldcoin scam unfold before me live action style. I never understood why some people played so dirty in the field, taking such a “scorched earth” approach to their tokens. Instead, look at Ethereum. They constantly built and improved their reputation year after year and became so much more than a simple pump and dump will ever achieve. I want to do something great too and I know patience and consistency are the key. No short term thinking here.

So, I say it, the Neuralium is going to be a beacon of honesty and truth. I put my name to it. Under my watch, the Neuralium will do everything to be absolutely squeaky clean and absolutely impeccable. For one thing, the Neuralium is a crypto token toy, and absolutely not a security. We will do no premine and we will NEVER do an ICO (or STO or whatever name it can have) on the Neuralium token; it has no value and we will never take a cent for it. It is not a security, and thus money could never be asked for it. I know from experience that from day one, a lot of people will call us “a scam”, “a fraud”, or whatever else name calling they will find convenient to tag us. I’ve seen it happen to every new crypto out there and I’m sure we will be no exception in this matter. But in truth, please realize that we will not be taking a cent from anyone. Our token will always be free to use and will have no premine, we will never do an ICO/STO on it and will fund through traditional means. If we take nothing from anybody, then I must ask, how are we scamming? The answer is that we can’t, because we take nothing from anyone and then nobody has anything to lose. We will simply begin from day one to build our relationship of trust with the public, and day by day, we will consistently prove who we are. And we hope that someday we will be recognized as an institution in the world of crypto and more.

The company I founded is itself based in Montreal, Quebec in Canada which is one of the safest, most stable and honest places in the world. And we will build our success on the stability and good reputation of our country to give the world a new beacon of trust. Day by day we will work hard to establish this reputation. With the help of the public blockchain, we will ensure that the world is able to verify our trust. With the public blockchain, everyone can verify what we do in real time and they can confirm that we are protecting the Neuralium as we should. If we ever break this trust, it will be visible and forever etched in the blockchain ledger, and we will forever lose the hard-earned trust that takes so long to build. We are fully in the open; fully exposed.

And so, it begins…

Now for the first steps, we must explain our financial situation and our means. Since we do not fund through premine, ICOs and STOs, and since the Neuralium is not a security, we cannot take any money for it, since it has no value at all. It is in essence, just a toy. Because of this, we have very little means compared to most other projects who fund through their crypto securities. Because of this, the reality is that we currently have very little money to fund our development activities and we are doing our best to advance as quickly as we can with the tiny team that we can afford. Up to now we funded through friends and family, but we are stretched thin for sure. Despite our limited means, we are blessed with having a team composed of incredible minds, and we know that together we can do great things! And one thing is sure, we have a lot of heart! In the future (possibly in 2020), we may launch a second security token, completely independent of the Neuralium on which we may do an STO then. We definitely chose the hard way to do things.

Although a lot of time and effort has gone into developing the Neuralium code we are presenting today, we do not believe that we are entirely ready to go into a perpetual MAINNET yet. And thus, we will begin with a multi phased TESTNET. Each phase will last a predefined length of time where we will observe the behavior of the network, gather comments from the public and then fix any issues that will arise and the reset the network and start again. Every new phase will be independent of the previous ones and the entire blockchain will be reset every time. When we feel that we are ready to go into MAINNET, then we will proceed and go live.

We launch today with TESTNET Trial Run I. It’s the first time we are testing publicly on so many computers and it may very well be a bumpy ride or just flat out crash. If it does, then so be it, we will fix it and try again. With such a small team, its near impossible to think of everything. The official dates for Trial Run I is from tomorrow the 4th of September at 19h00 EST to tomorrow the 5th of September at 19h00 EST (unless a severe crash forces us to stop and reset before that). Then we will take a day to reconvene on the experience, update the code and then we will move into Trial Run II, then Phase I and so on until we are ready. In every new phase as we gain some confidence, we will add new features. For example, we have our entire mobile suite for Android and iOS that will enter TESTNET a bit later, hopefully in Phase IV .
The team and I are very excited to begin this adventure together with you and thank you for joining us on this amazing ride !
