I am happy to announce iScoin, iScoin powers the inSpace project.
We are in the process of building inSpace - a decentralised, open source platform that lets you upload, store, layout and share your files in spatial maps that we call ‘spaces’.
-- File storage and social media platform built on EOS.
-- Encrypted, distributed file storage using IPFS.
-- File and content-centric graphical interface.
-- Upcoming rolling ICO with a daily coin allocation clearing at market
supply/demand.
As some of the team behind inSpace have a history in realtime 3D, one of our goals is to build a 3D zooming user interface for the platform. We have done much preliminary work proving out our ideas in this direction.
The core components comprise of a file storage and sharing solution using EOS and IPFS combined with either a web client or a local sync client to keep files up to date locally.
iScoin can be used to promote content and pay for upgraded storage. Top content gets into a weekly top 100 list and receives additional payouts. iScoin supports staking, you can lock coins for 1, 3, 6 months or one year in order to receive staking rewards. The coin also has a 1% transaction fee; this is mainly used to pay out to stake holders. The remainder is used for paying out to top content, pay bug and dev bounties and keep the dev team going.
We have thought hard to make this model as equitable as possible so it can empower a virtuous cycle within the community.
We are planning to start the ICO for iScoin in the coming weeks, I will followup when we have the final date, but I wanted to post here to get feedback and catch anything we may have missed. The ICO will last for two years. We chose a long period of time as we did not want to close out end users who discover inSpace from using it at a later date who are not from a cryptocurrency background.
Soon after the ICO starts we will make our first alpha release on our own EOS testnet so that more people can get involved in trying, testing or even developing the code. If our visions and skills align, we would love to grow the core team.
The testnet version of inSpace will take a weekly snapshot of iScoin (iS) so a coin-holder who has a stake in iS can use that to vote for content they want to support on the testnet. This means real content payouts can start being received for good content on the testnet.
