We are excited that the Constellation Mainnet is launching soon! In this spirit, we are looking for pioneers who want to participate in hosting Constellation nodes in order to lay the foundation of a strong global network. Apply on our site here. The MainNet will launch with up to 100 foundation nodes. Applicants will be selected based on a set of criteria that best align with the trajectory of the Constellation Network. However, once proven to be stable, this number will increase and the scope of participants will widen. Although the Constellation nodes are built to be lightweight, the initial operators will be running a full node in order to maintain stability across the node clusters. And as the network’s stability is battle-tested, lighter nodes will be able to join the network.
What’s in it for you?
In order to grow and thrive, the Constellation Mainnet relies on participants/nodes like yourself.
Node validators will receive:
- A reputation score. The reputation score builds over time and allows early nodes to secure throughput allocations in the network and become a highly trusted node in the network
- Participating node validators will receive DAG for their validation service
Node validators will be rewarded by the Constellation Foundation Validator Rewards pool. The pool consists of 1.6B DAG tokens. The rewards release curve looks very similar to Bitcoin with a halving of rewards every 2.5years
For example: With a maximum of 1000* foundation-level validator nodes a single node can earn a max of DAG tokens in each 2.5 year period:
- Period 1 (first 2.5 years): 900,000 DAG
- Period 2 (year 2.5 -5): 450,000 DAG
- Period 3 (year 5-7.5): 225,000 DAG
- Period 4 (year 7.5-10): 18,750 DAG
*The maximum number of foundation-level nodes might change depending on network needs and network topography.
For a detailed explanation of our validation model, please read the paper found here.
What is required?
Constellation nodes can easily be installed on a machine meeting the outlined hardware requirements:
- 4 GB Memory
160 GB Disk - 4 cpu(quadcore)
Alternatively, it is also possible to run a full constellation node on a virtual server instance (AWS,GCP) that meets the hardware requirements for a full node. Recommend minimum viable instances are:
Selection Process:
Among other selection criteria, we are looking for globally distributed node placement to ensure the stability and resilience of the network. We will begin reviewing applicants on July 15th, 2019 and those selected will be notified on next steps via email in the last week of July. Due to a high number of node requests, we will not be able to notify those who have not been selected. However, please be on the lookout as we will reach out accordingly as we continue to onboard more full and lightweight nodes after the Constellation MainNet launches.
With best regards,
The Constellation Network Team
