I kinda forgot about my shares here and logged in the other day to withdraw whatever had accumulated on my account. This is when I found out they've shut down. I'm way behind on news here..

My account says it has 0.6 something BTC. I requested a payout a week ago and still waiting.. Sent emails and opened a support ticket but no ones answering. Tried calling their phone number but it seems to be disconnected.

Does anyone have any way to contact Tommy as he was quite a public figure.. people even met him in person. This guy wasn't trying to hide as far as I know.

Should I expect the worst?

What wonders me 2 months after his official announcement it's over. That is a world record, even for bitcoin standard.

Really not sure why he continues to accumulate and show a payout .....

No. I did not send them miners but I purchased 2 of these:

The shopping item is one S5 miner and 6 months of hosting service with them.

Throughout the 4 months of usage, there were several outages which lasted few hours or one or two days. But Tommy would react fast on e-mail and reset the miners, or he could turn on other miners to give me extra hash rate to compensate for lost time. I am fine with it because I believe in give-and-take.

MiningSweden doesn't allow you to switch pools, or they implied they don't allow. After I submitted my first pool info to them, they did not reply to my e-mails regarding request to change pools. I'm okay with it actually.

I'm your typical casual customers, as long as the miners are turned on and running smoothly, I will leave things as it is. As long as things are solved, I will leave it as it is.

But I am particularly annoyed when I realised the miners were down for more than a month and Tommy did not give an update what is going on until I e-mailed him and he simply replied the miners were switched off. All these were done without prior notification. This is annoying.

I filed a Paypal chargeback against MS [Yup. I am very annoyed], and the chargeback failed with the following reason:

I just calculated my stats together.. joined MS 11 monts ago. invested 3 times, totalling 195 $
and got back ca 0.41 btc
so it's not bad but not good either
the thing is that even though he paid more out than he should (IF, as i don't feel like checking and calculating it myself) those who bought just mining shares win more and those who bought with VIP shares, lost more because VIP shares gives nothing atm. Can hardly wait what happens next year with those VIPs

All I know for sure is I'm due my last payout because it's still pending and got no end of year payment as advertised.

They changed the goalposts. They stated from the very start they would pay through the year from mining and share the profits at the end. The last few months promises over and over they will payout the vip shares and now are saying oh no we won't be paying that because we were paying more from mining over the year, like that was something they weren't aware of.

If they were overpaying instead of paying shares at the end of the year they should have made that clear. They already acknowledged a while back they knew they were overpaying mining payouts but still said they would pay vip shares.

I'd say they should make their books public but I don't believe they even have accountants doing their numbers.

So these guys are trying to shut down the service? so what about the initial payment they have sended to site to buy those mining rigs or it is just a virtual rigs they have sold?

Absolutely nothing. Just announced there will be no VIP payments and mining will stop.

It was obvious as of February they were never going to pay. Every month another reason to push back the payments.
Then it was the "accountants" had tens of thousands of payments to process so it's taking time, then payouts stopped because the plugin wasn't working, now it's "we overpaid all year anyway so we won't pay VIP shares and I'm tired of the angry emails about how we were supposed to pay months ago so I'm done doing this anymore and mining is stopping".

I think tommy is doing business as any business should be running. I have roi'd but i have been in since day 1

I am disappointed that Mining Sweden did not inform their customers in advance before turning off the power for some of their services.

And here is another food for thought into the shadiness of Tommy and Mining Sweden:

On 25Apr16, in the news section he stated that they closed down their S5 miners because it was no longer profitable, and they took out the payouts for those.

So basically if you had any mining contracts for the S5's they removed the shares from your account and thats it.  No conversion rate to S7 mining or anything.  Just gone.  When you buy the mining contracts you are entitled to payouts for 12 months including all costs.  If you bought in late last year, your contract was less than a year so this is a blatant lie.

Legit cloud mining will never be profitable.  And Mining Sweden is a real company with real miners.  But the payout rates need to be visible on the page otherwise it's straight up deceitful.   You think anyone would invest in MS if they knew they wouldn't ROI?  Absolutely not.  I know i wouldn't.  He would get no funding and the project would fail.  Which makes him a slimy salesman.  You find out once you invest. 

Good luck getting future investors because i can guarantee you most current investors will not be back to renew contracts once their year term is over.  Which also means tommy will close up shop (just a hunch).

sadly, no one can predict how mining will be into the future, since it all depends on several factors

the bottomline i was trying to make, those that bought from miningsweden, got exactly what they paid for, and some more (since they did not adjust payouts as fast as the real payout calculated by
bitcoinwisdom)

there is nothing wrong with the service, the problem is, its becoming harder in general to ROI at current mining conditions...

and it doesnt matter where you buy you hashing from, or do it from home.... (unless you have free electricity that is)

The only way to roi is if fiat was used from day 1.  If you used btc to purchase MS shares, ROI is impossible and that is a fact.  Tommy dropped prices starting around black friday to get more customers.  Then kept dropping to sell out of his vip shares.....which he also did.  Had i realized that mining payouts would drop so much so quickly (stayed at 0.00001220 per GH per day for 6 months until Dec. 2015)....i would have only used cash.  I am 6 btc from roi......which will never happen unless the VIP shares pay out anything.  But for those i have my doubts as well, since Tommy hasn't mentioned anything about them.  Come on....how long does accounting take in Sweden?  It has been a month.  That's some slow ass boarderline retarded accounting.  

Then answer me the following question:

if you bought 1000 GH, do you expect to be paid for more than those 1000 GH?

since reality is, you are getting paid for exactly what you paid for, and the payment you are recieving is the current average per day
as per bitcoinwisdom, at current diff... reasons for the higher payments before is because he could, he had more GH not bought by anyone,
and gave some of that back to his customers. that i bet you would never get if you had bought from hashness or some of the other
mining companies....

OK, maybe you was lucky because start 1 years ago and you have reach the ROI,
but now with this payout per share is impossible reach the ROI,
then why the payout has decrease about  75% from beginning of March (util 8th march was 0.00000805 BTC per share an now is 0.000002815 BTC per share) the price to buy per share is about the same.

and all my orders = 269,80 USD, Which is 0,6034 BTC.

so the one that only quickly looks over this would say, but you havnt reached ROI

but look at my last order, which was 2016-03-30, for 54.60 USD

so lets calculate backwards:
269.80 - 54.60 = 215.20 USD which is (preev.com todays value) 0,4807 btc

and we look at the payouts:
0.5457 - 0.0419004 - 0.011314 = 0,4924856

so, i have reached ROI, hats off to tommy for actually going that extra mile to make sure we do reach ROI

Any body else has encounters with MS?

Start of a new year and still nothing on VIP shares, no info or payouts. He avoids all questions about. He may be a nice guy and all, but nice people sometimes do wrong things.

Yes Tommy is a good fella, met him personally in the Summer and saw where the miners were working.. Of course not many believe that I went or that Tommy exists or Mining Sweden is real but Tommy did put an invite out where anyone could come along if they wanted and hardly anyone came and he tried at least to show he was transparent and real which in my case he was.

Sites ok for me, maybe their server provider they use for the user web interface was down or something.

This has happened a couple of times but shouldnt affect payouts.

Just bought 1TH in VIP shares. Up and running within an HR. The BTC I received was over the calculated rate of 1TH.

Cloud mining is not profitable anymore. I know from experience so trust me.
Those middle parties are forced to take such a big fee that it is not protitable for their users. No matter how low their electricity fees are...

Mining Sweden provices a solid service, but the business model is not profitable anymore. They buy the same asics for the same amount of money larger users do.
Sure they pay less for elecricty but if you compare their cloud mining with that of f.e. bitmain, hashnest, you see it's no match in terms of competion.

I have talked to Tommy a few time on hashtalk and he seems a nice guy, but in business it is about profits.

I have positive encounters with Tommy and I believe I should share my experiences.


I got to know about MiningSweden through Badbitcoin.org where it listed MS as a trusthworthy service provider. After some searching, I stumbled upon a discussion somewhere in btctalk that related forum members' positive experiences of meeting up with MS founder Tommy in Sweden.

I am skeptical with cloud mining services despite some positive reviews on some major providers. I figured it is more ideal to own mining hardware but high electricity costs in my country will erode any gains that I may get from mining. MS happens to sell Antminer S5 miners and provide its hosting. It was sold as a package of US$570 which includes the miner with 6 months of hosting. Subsequent hosting can be renewed at US$42 each month (6 months package).

I see a beauty of this setup as I am essentially paying for maintenance and electricity fees upfront @ US 42 each month and I am more assured that the miners will not be cut off unlike a major cloud mining provider who terminate contracts if "mining becomes unprofitable". Since I see potential in bitcoins, I am more interested in keeping the miners up and running.


I've purchased two S5 from Tommy and the experience has been very positive. Upon completion of payment, I was asked to submit the pool details and the miner is up and running within two hours. One of the miners was purchased over a weekend and I did not expect any response until the following week. But within an hour, Tommy responded and got the miner up and running. That was impressive, IMHO. The miners so far have been hashing at the advertised rate +/- 5%, and remained stable.


The pool that I've selected alert miners if the machines went offline. For the past month, there were two instances when the miners went offline but Tommy responded swiftly after I alerted him through e-mail. Since I got an early alert from the pool operator that miners went offline, the downtime is negligible. Some may argue there is a need for 100% up-time since we've paid for it, but I believe that in life, there's always give-and-take; I rather develop a friendly, casual relationship rather than a strictly business-like relationship.


 

I bought 10 VIP mining shares 3 days back. So far it looks like a decent investment and a very transparent operation.
Considering that this is this is my first venture in bitcoin mining I'm treating it more of as a learning experience rather than an overnight money-spinning venture.
I posted a ticket but got no replies. I think it's better if I post it here:

RMCS10 grants me 10 VIP shares of 10GH for 12 months each totalling 100GH in all at a cost of $110.16 after coupon discount.

As stated on the payout screen- "Current BTC value from 2015-06-25          0.00001020 BTC per share, per day and GH"  
Hence my earnings come to- 0.00001020BTC X 10 VIP shares X 365 days X 10GH = 0.3723 BTC/annum X $267.41 (as on 15-08-2015) = $99.5 (approx)

As on date I stand to make a net loss of $10.66.

I had paid in INR through PayPal and hence the USD is a bit expensive for me.
However I understand that if USD/INR rates and BTC/USD appreciate in the future then I stand to gain.

My queries are-
1) If I do earn a share of the profits and it's added to my payout would it be sufficient to cover my loss of $10.66?
2) On expiry of my VIP contract after 12 months do I get any preferential treatment/ discounts for renewing my contract?
3) Are longer term (>12 months) contracts possible at the moment or is it possible to become a permanent member at all?
Had the existing contract been for 24 months or more my figures would have been rosier.
