Don't listen to this fake account. The owner dumped this project long time ago. He promised optical miners, took pre-order money and ran away. Website/domain are long time dumped as well.

Hi, I rented a rig to mine this coin and with sprnova an rxrat and a gain some coins. Firstly the rental was cheap but now it has increased a lot it cost thousans right now to rent a powerful rig for 3 hours. I am rookie in this.

Any idea why?

I would like to know if exist any way to exchange it.

Wallets are ports with little to nothing added . Even so much so they forgot to change bitcoin values names, images.

They release a cpu miner then 5 wallets mine 80ish% of all the coins with gpu miner.

Basically the issue I see is the developers care about hardware and care nothing about the software for this coin.  This is just a tool for them to test and at any point could become unsupported. Devs might be great at hardware but this has to be one of the worse released coins I have seen this year.

This is probably the best project to be launched this year. The developers are experienced engineers and have been featured in Forbes. Just because you didn't mine early it's really not our issue.

No, it skyrocketed because of the private GPU miner/s. I just released this today. True, i had 2 guys testing it for me few days before the release, but they didnt have more than 3ghs together.

So...... was this one of the reason why the Global Hash rate skyrocketed in the last couple of days. A few people knew about this GPU Miner much before.

The hashrates of oBTC has reduced drastically on mining pools run by Suprnova, rxrat, plant and letshash.it.

This clearly means oBTC is being mined on some other pools now, the data for which is not updated on "miningpoolstats.stream"

Any idea which pool are miners mining oBTC now.

If its going to be gpu mineable and people show interest then the network hashrate is going to be far greater and by time the coins paid to miners are going to be much more than the coins these farms took...this is indeed a smart move. wait to see how it plays out ! i just hope to have switches for auto adjusting dif. according to everyone's hashrate.

Note that this mining farm issue is one of the reasons oPoW has the potential to democratize mining. Home miners with expensive energy costs that currently cannot compete with low power costs in China and other mining farm regions will be profitable with optical machines.

lets be honest...i replied yesterday in order to show the length of damage the big farms made to small and average miners like me...a new project that is not yet widely known and has no money value for the miners for time being, lost probably thousands of coins 2 days ago leaving the coin with so high dif. that is not worth mining and pay electricity for 0.3 coins per day. And if you were gpu mining 2 days ago then mine to my wallet too and not with 2-3-4 wallets...you see i browse every night a specific mining pool to check the coins with enough miners in order to start mining with them and in obtc section there was a wallet with 9 GH/s and another one with 4 GH/s hashing power and 500+ workers in the first...so please be honest...the farms already made damage in building a community because high dif. means a lot less people to follow your project and that means you lose hash power...also high dif. is not fair for any miner for a coin 1 month old. you are wellcoming farms and its ok but the logical thing is to auto adjust the dif. for them to be balanced with their hashing power.

I write for first time in forum. 2 days ago with few hours of mining at 2 MH/s i earned 1.14 obtc...Today it shows 0.36 obtc per day. Sadly this is not a coin for all after all. Big farms as you say made it unmineable at least for me.

Still 0 % fee and finally a few MH/s on the pool as well

Most cryptocurrencies rely on Proof-of-Work (PoW) "mining" for resistance to Sybil and double-spending attacks, as well as a mechanism for currency issuance. Hashcash PoW has successfully secured the Bitcoin network since its inception, however, as the network has expanded to take on additional value storage and transaction volume, Bitcoin PoW's heavy reliance on electricity has created scalability issues, environmental concerns, and systemic risks.

- A perfect fair launch with an "Empty Genesis Block" and no "Post Mine"
- A low Block Reward of 50 OBTC per Block, which is a good reward to start
- A very low difficulty to start with

I started mining when the block height was as low as 20 (if I remember) and am getting a very healthy hash rate of 2305 KH/s on my Core i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10 GH........ mining running on 4 Cores (that is the default and you cant change).

That is fine if this is an experimental chain. I will not mind even if the devs re-set the chain.

Atleast, I got to enter the mining at such a lower block height...... and the experience has been wonderful.

a con that I see is the frequent rejections in the shares, possibly that is because of the low block time.

I think exactly same thing there already blocks that take 34 minutes to be found and restarting a chain is a mistake. Blockchain anyway will adjust time to 10 minutes average even for that quick blocks mined previously. Of course the situation will re happen because of growing interest. Pool shows that top miners are from China so if you want to restart chan they will force chain at 100% and almost all coins will be in China at 100% be wise and leave chain running early miners are always rewarded with easy blocks and coins that is a normal thing. Let the chain work  and do not restart it. 

The team decision is too persistent. . . Yesterday the project just started and the block was produced very quickly. That was because a lot of miners were suddenly joined and the difficulty has not risen yet. . . . Many coins have low difficulty at the beginning, and blocks are produced very quickly. . . Including the early BTC is like this. . . Now stable

If you restart, why dont stop mining pool?

Quick update:

We are fixing a few cosmetic things as well as working on relaunch with higher diff. It may be done earlier but we are targeting end of the month to relaunch. We will post here once we launch and in the discord.

restart is make sense, nobady should pay for ur mining cost when u stiill mining.

As I was saying in Discord (the one that Matusik484 posted https://discord.gg/JvPep78Ysa), it looks like we set the difficulty too low. We didn't expect so many people to start mining. (thanks for the interest!). Of course, we can't go to prod with the chain running 1-second blocks so we will have to reset with a higher diff genesis block after we do some more testing. We launched with 1 min blocks and thought it would adjust to ten over time .

We're figuring out where to get the hashpower to mine a high diff genesis and will post here when we are ready to relaunch.

What is oBTC?

Optical Bitcoin [oBTC] is an experimental Bitcoin fork using oPoW, proof of work algorithm for optical computers developed by PoWx (www.powx.org).

Current State of the Blockchain

As we are publishing this, the chain is at block height ~10 and is in the process of adjusting to the correct 10-min block time. The genesis block was empty (i.e. there was no pre-mine and the BTC transaction history was not preserved).

Project Goals

We outlined the value proposition of oPoW in our paper, blog posts, etc. over the last several years. The long-term goal is to shift the PoW ecosystem to low-energy computing, making the hashrate more resilient and enabling a much broader geographic distribution of mining. Please see www.PoWx.org

Disclaimer

This is an experimental network. We’re hoping that it’s usable and stable as is based on our testing, however, if you mine it, note that you are doing so at your own risk. We may have to relaunch the network in the future and coin balances may be lost. We will be posting updates on the state of development and critical upcoming milestones.

Update (May 2021): Although we did end up having to reset the network once shorty after publishing due to low initial difficulty, it has been stable for some months and will not be reset again without conserving balances.
