What is OWN Token?

OWN is an ERC-20 token, i.e., a cryptocurrency token on the Ethereum blockchain, aimed at facilitating decentralized philanthropy, education, research funding, disaster management and seed capital. Previously, OWN was only listed on decentralized exchanges Uniswap and Saturn Network, as well as the CCTip Box system.

What the hell is a ‘CEX’? And why should I care?

A centralized exchange (CEX) is a cryptocurrency exchange where trades are NOT wallet-to-wallet and are regulated by centralized system. By contrast, a decentralized exchange (DEX) is an exchange that ostensibly, has no rules, except those of the blockchain. While this might have its advantages for crypto enthusiasts and early adopters, for the average consumer using OWN either for charitable activities or personal profit, DEXs don’t provide the same volume and liquidity as a CEX. Moreover, overwhelming transfer fees might drive away most people.

Traditionally, cryptocurrency has been seen as a gamble at best, illicit funds at worst. There are several negative stereotypes attached to cryptocurrency, perhaps stemming from its decentralized nature. There is no central governing body that controls the flow of Bitcoin in and out of countries, except a few regulatory authorities in developed countries. Satoshi Nakamoto is a faceless entity. Craig Wright is most definitely not Satoshi, but he very well could be, along with Changpeng Zhao, Vitalik Buterin and countless others. Although every transaction on the Blockchain can be traced back to its source wallet, the wallet address doesn’t reveal the person’s identity. This anonymity has made cryptocurrency a secure form of monetary exchange in general, but it has also enabled drug peddlers, child pornography distributors and other degenerates to use it for illicit and illegal purposes, making it an easy target for governments and tyrannical figures worldwide that advocate for a blanket ban on cryptocurrency. However, cryptocurrency isn’t inherently bad. Just like money, it serves a purpose. In the case of the OWN Token, that purpose is very specific and very benign.

So what exactly is the OWN Token?

The OWN Token is an ERC-20 token (a token on the Ethereum blockchain) whose main purpose is to be used to fund philanthropy, scientific research, better disaster management, and education. The first ever Initial Exchange Offering for OWN is going to take place November 1st, 2020 onwards on the VinDAX exchange, and by Q4 2021 we hope to be listed on major cryptocurrency exchanges worldwide. It is our hope and desire to not only dispel the negative stereotypes around cryptocurrency, but also contribute to a better world.

I have checked the  Project earlier. It is going good recent news of the public sale on Vindax came. The most important thing now is the use case, so start working on the use cases because that's what matters the most. I hope there are some future developments too and listings on some major exchanges. Best of luck in the future. Things take time, its a long journey.

After more than a month here, what have you accomplished for this project towards your goal in charitable side of things here? I hope it will not end in texts only but you will really do some action to satisfy your mission. And how's the publishing of your team members here?

I don't see any roadmap on your website or on your whitepaper.
How do we know about your plans for this project?
What to expect for the next coming months or coming years?
At least give us what tasks are you going to accomplish for the next couple of years.

Project is good, your vision, still you and your team need to work hard, you have to do some creative campaigns,  best wishes.  

This world not believing good people's intentions, most of bad people comes as professionals with great projects (eg.Bitconnect) all are attracted to their team and campaigns, end up with mega scams,  good peoples dreams, projects fails because of lack of supports, in my childhood my elders always thought me to give charity, if everyone will do charity like this, at least 2% from their wealth, there will be no poverty on the planet earth.

I hope in due time you'll add info about your team, whitepaper, and an achievable roadmap.
As for the token's use case; a token for charities and social causes isn't all a bad idea, but this has to be accompanied with utmost transparency especially on where or to whom those donations would go.

Sorry mate but you gotta try harder than this. Having just a smart contract with few social media channels and a token logo will no longer suffice to encourage people in funding your project.
You need a feasible and achievable token use case for investors to even take notice of your project.
If you're really serious about bringing this project to life, then you need to prioritize a few things such as a functional and working website with complete details about the project, not just a bland, blank website.
Also, be transparent. Whoever you guys are or if it is just you alone who's working on this; be transparent and step into the limelight. Let the people know who you are, what you do and what exactly you can contribute to the crypto-community.

Presenting the OWN Token o-ABC: An Academy for Decentralized Education and Awareness About Crypto


The problem
Although many governments throughout the world are recognizing the power of the blockchain and cryptocurrencies, and are seeking to build a regulatory framework around them, the sentiment among the general public about cryptocurrency ranges from skeptical to straight up negative. In early 2020, the Supreme Court of India, for example, overturned a ruling by the Reserve Bank of India, that forbade banks and payment providers from dealing in crypto and providing services to cryptocurrency exchanges. However, the government sentiment regarding cryptocurrency is still very negative in India, and a law is being drafted to put a blanket ban on the same. There are other countries as well that have followed the regressive step of banning cryptocurrency altogether. In such an atmosphere of fear, uncertainty and doubt (FUD), it is easy to see why the general public is so skeptical about cryptocurrency and the blockchain ecosystem, and knows so little about the same.

So how do we solve it?
By applying a decentralized approach to educating the masses about cryptocurrency and blockchain, we can counter this negative sentiment and create palpable change. A well-educated public will push for legislation that benefits them, and in turn, the blockchain ecosystem. Japan, for example, was an early adopter of cryptocurrency, making XRP (Ripple) legal tender within the country. We at the OWN Token project aim to, among other things, facilitate this education and be a catalyst for change.

o-ABC is an acronym for ‘Online Academy for Blockchain and Cryptocurrency’. It aims to educate the masses about cryptocurrency and the far-reaching benefits of blockchain technology. Within the academy will be online courses, which will lead up to a certificate. To enroll in the Academy, a student must simply pay a tiny amount of money, either in the form of OWN, or via alternate payment gateways.
