The problem here doesn't simply root from the decision to change the project's name because you see them better with other, there are project who find them in need to rebrand at one point in their life, and that's fine. The problem that you have here came from the fact how you easily decide to change it without proper and necessary factors.
If I am somewhat not clear enough, the problem is not the name itself, but the indecisive team who choose the names. It shows a very lack of preparation and thought, even implying a hasty let's-chase-the-current-trend. If you didn't put so much thought into the face of your product, what'll happen with the insides of it? The technicalities, the roadmaps. God forbid when a roadmap failed to b achieved, you simply said, "oh here, we just charted a new roadmap. Enjoy."
