That doesn't even make sense. Crypto is full of stupid people.

Fact is we're still here. I'm currently working on an eth wrapper so we can create some potential use case for xnv within the DeFi sphere. Updated today to fix a recently exploited vulnerability in the monero p2p code. I'm working on a new rebase version of xnv and looking at potentially chain swapping to a brand new updated chain using previously noted wrapper token. Donated some money to help kids in the Ukraine with some community donations. And that's within the last 2 months. So I mean if that's what a dead coin looks like then I wonder what a coin that is actually dead looks like

Hello, everyone! Something quiet topic.  Who thinks about the perspective of Nerva minting, is there a point in minting this coin now?  What will be next with the coin, will it live?

Nope, its dead...
It was doing well at one stage when the dev's converted the XNV to BTC and now you stuck with shit

A couple of announcements from Discord:

@everyone. website has had a bit of an update and with it a new non-mandatory release to 0.1.6.5. This release is mainly a maintenance release with the code rebasing to the monero master branch. There are some bug fixes, general improvements and a few minor features. The ledger app has also been updated. Updating either one will require an update to both if you use the ledger. This release also removes some of the old monero backward compatibility code, which introduces a few breaking changes which all people should be aware of.

First off, all but very recently created wallets won't open. backward compatibility in the wallet.cache file has been removed. so you either need to update the wallet by deleting the .cache file and letting nervad regenerate it, or just reimport it by seed. Secondly, the blockchain database has had some old crufty code removed. it is not necessary to resync the chain, however resyncing it will result in a chain that was (in my testing) around 10% smaller in size. so it is something worth doing.

If you decide to resync, you can get a quick sync file from
https://www.getnerva.org/content/bootstrap/quicksync.raw
then run nervad with the following command
nervad --quicksync quicksync.raw
To speed up the resyncing

Overall, a little bit of a PITA for this update, but it is worth it to remove old backward compatibility support and give us a cleaner codebase and smaller blockchain sizes

@everyone Sorry for the second ping, but i forgot to mention bitmesh. Nerva is up for voting. So if you want to see Nerva on another exchange, you got to vote for it. @everyone With the help of @Hooftly | AMIT  and @syzygy, Nerva is now listed on Cratex. A new and upcoming exchange that aims to be easy to use and provide a good selection of small cap coins. Nerva has commenced trading today and is running BTC and LTC pairs for maximum convenience. The LTC pair and greatly reduced confirmation times make Cratex a better option for trading than TradeOgre. Just a new exchange, so could do with a bit of love and volume. So head on over and check it out.

Must update to 0.1.6.3, more details below:

@everyone Binaries for 0.1.6.3 are up. rolls back the hardfork height so it will not take place at previously scheduled. everything else works fine. so ledger will still work, you'll get a bit of a boost on your mining and sync speed, just the hardfork won't happen just yet. a potential problem has been found in the PoW algorithm and it needs to be investigated. could end up being nothing. but if it is something, it's better to know that a few days before the fork rather than a few days after.

However. there is a but to this story. the binaries are now going to have a minimum supported version of 0.1.6.3. this is to prevent people who maybe running 0.1.6.2 at the fork height from disrupting the network. the seed nodes are currently configured to accept connections from old nodes, but these binaries will not. so you may notice a lack of connections until more people update. you can override this by using the --min-version flag like
./nervad --min-version 0.1.5.6 if you have trouble getting connections. but it is 100% not advised to run it like this at around the time of the (now defunct) hardfork and it is better to just see how you go with connections before using this option.

Update from Discord - hard fork scheduled for block 477500:

@everyone. Testnet has been running well, so a mainnet hard fork has been scheduled for block 477500, which is in about 5 days from now. Plenty of time to update. On the ledger side of things, had a few people test it with no problems. I'd still like more testing and feedback before publishing it on the website though. So if you have a ledger, you can help out by using it with the testnet and making sure there are no problems. Bots are down for the moment getting a rewrite in prep for a new recruit to the bot army, so you're gonna have to head over to the website to download new binaries

Update is in testing, a hardfork will be scheduled in a bout a week:

@everyone Nerva 0.1.6.0 binaries are now up for the testnet, which will fork in about 1000 blocks. The dropbox folder contains testnet CLI binaries, ledger app and updated GUI binaries with ledger support. These are for testnet users only. Don't want to testnet, then wait for a week until public testing is done and a mainnet hardfork is scheduled. besides the ledger support, we got a few new things in this release:
- Support for auto-detecting the optimal number of mining threads (pulled from monero)
- Support for Monero's latest bulletproofs which decreases tx fees and block sizes
- Simplified terminal output to clean up the CLI
- Ability to sync with external checkpoint file for faster syncing. I'll talk about that a bit more when i update atom to distrbute checkpoint files
- Batch sync is fixed. Slow syncing is now a thing of the past
- PoW changes to increase hashrate and sync speed considerably after the next fork
- Bug fixes affecting exchange wallets
- Basic analytics to help nerva build a node map. Can be turned off with a flag. I'll talk about that some more before the server side goes live, to detail what information is collected and how it is handled.
So you can use these binaries for the mainnet right now as well, but there will be another release in a week or so when the testing is complete and a mainnet fork height is determined
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/vafoe4bsxx3ktbj/AAAH0t1h-yb9B4IikfYql0r_a?dl=0

Disclaimer: DO NOT use the ledger app for mainnet funds at this stage. it is intended at this point for testing and is released with these test builds. For mainnet funds, you should wait until the ledger app is published on the official nerva website.

A progress update from Angrywasp on discord, hardfork will happen in a couple weeks:

Jus a quick update. Ledger support for version 2 bulletproofs has passed initial testing and is ready for the testnet. Some patches to the PoW algorithm will be rolled into this release as well, which i am part the way through done. Got to finish that and get the ledger app packaged up for distribution and we should be good to go for some public testing with a view to a hardfork in the next couple of weeks. Got some other handy new features too, like autodetecting the optimal number of mining threads for the daemon, syncing from external checkpoint files, fixes to the slow syncing which has been a problem for a while. Also added the daemon code for the woocommerce plugin to not require a locally running daemon and wallet, which will please @ukminer, and have a bit more work to do on the plugin side for that. So overall, going to be a good update. Fixed some problems and got some new goodies. I will advise when the testnet is updated so we can get some testing on the new bulletproofs and ledger, which should be in the next 2-3 days.

I'm really loving Nerva and it's potential more and more. Looking very much forward to finding out what happens after reaching tail emission. I feel it takes many great components from other solid cryptocurrencies as inspiration and builds upon it.

Honestly, I'm not a fan of using terms like "satoshis vision", as it feels too "cult like". In my opinion, satoshi came up with a great idea/protocol, but it's simply that, a great start upon which many others will build different things with.

I see Nerva as simply another innovative twist on creating that which Bitcoin was initially designed for, being a cryptocurrency.

Lastly, would I be naive to ask the devs if there are any more opportunities for OTC buys of Nerva?

Nerva is now added to coinmarketcap.com today too. I keep on hearing Nerva compared to Being the next raiblocks too.

it's more like the next bitcoin, as cliche as that sounds. truly decentralized mining adheres to satoshi's vision of 1 CPU = 1 vote and as far as i can see, Nerva is the only privacy coin with that ability (no pools)

How to mine NERVA:

This guide is for Windows 10.

Mining NERVA is very simple; in this guide I will show you how to mine NERVA solo, which you can do on any computer that has a modern-ish CPU.

We will use the CLI (command line interface) wallet, and mine through the daemon using a .bat file to start the miner.

(Alternatively you can use the GUI wallet if you prefer, simply skip step 3 and get your address from the GUI wallet instead.)

1. Download the daemon and wallet.

Download the latest Windows wallet and daemon here:
http://getnerva.org/#downloads

Make sure to disable real-time protection in Windows Defender before starting the download, and to make an exclusion in Windows Defender for the folder that you will extract it to. Once you have downloaded and extracted the files to the excluded folder, then remember to turn real-time protection back on!! (Windows Defender likes to flag mining programs as malicious, and will often remove/disable them if you do not do this.)

Also, some browsers will block downloads of programs that can mine coins, like Chrome. If you are using Chrome and it blocks the download, open "settings," scroll down to the bottom, and click "advanced". Uncheck "Protect you and your device from dangerous sites." Once the download is complete, remember to re-enable this setting!!)

2. Sync the blockchain.

Okay, so now you should have a number of files in your folder, but we are only interested in nervad.exe and nerva-wallet-cli.exe. (or the GUI wallet if you prefer)

First, open up nervad.exe (the nerva daemon). You will likely get an alert and have to click O.K. allow the .exe to run, as well as a firewall message. Make sure to allow these.

Wait for the daemon to sync the entire block chain. Do not open the wallet until it is done syncing.
When it is done syncing it will say so, and will say it is O.K. to open the wallet.

3. Create your wallet.

Open nerva-wallet-cli.exe (do not close the daemon, if you do, just close the CLI wallet and open the daemon and make sure it syncs fully before creating a new wallet)

Simply follow the on-screen prompts, it will walk you through the creation of a new wallet.

Make sure to use a strong password and keep it safe.

Make sure to write down your seed and keep it safe as well.

Once you have your wallet created, it will give you your address. This will be a long string of characters starting with the letters "NV." Save this somewhere to use in the last step (a blank text file is fine, this is your public key).

You can now close the wallet and the daemon.

4. Create .bat file to start mining.

Open up notepad.

Past in:

nervad.exe --start-mining NV2y5YqS9WFSmDjVG2P62XXYkAKfnZnJq4s5Bydajabu9dXJPEPfVtefEUfbCPAbZMKLP54VMR771DC gHXQqPDrD1vaWr7ko5 --mining-threads 7

Replace my address with yours that you just saved above in step 3.

The number of mining threads should be tweaked depending on your CPU model. Mine is set to 7 because my i7-6700k has 8 threads, and I can still use my computer if I leave 1 available.

Make sure to save this file as a .bat file, it can be named anything you like, e.g. "start.bat".
When saving, click "Save As" and you have to change under "Save as type", from "Text Documents" to "All Files."
I would suggest making a shortcut to this .bat file so you can start it easily from your desktop or wherever is convenient for you.

5. Double-click start.bat to start mining!

That's it! You are done! Simply double click the start.bat file (or whatever you named it). The daemon should open and start syncing whatever its missing since it was open last. Once finished it should then start mining!

Try experimenting with different --mining-threads values to see what gives the best hash rate. (You might have to lower this value slightly if you want to be able to use your computer when mining as well.)

To check your hash rate, simply type "status" into the daemon while its mining. It will show your hash rate as well as the network hash rate, so you can get an idea of how likely it is to find blocks.

When you find a block it will say "Found block for difficulty xxxx."

It will spew out stuff into the CLI interface periodically but you can mostly ignore this, I did run into a sync error once in the couple weeks I have been mining this however and had to restart the client to get the chain synced again.

To check (and use!) your balance, remember to make sure the daemon (nervad.exe) is fully synced first, then simply open up the nerva-wallet-cli.exe, enter the wallet name and then the password to access your funds!

Added this to the subreddit.

Welp, I've been mining for just about 2 days at 450H/s and haven't found a block yet. While I realize that luck plays a huge role here, I also think that if your hashrate vs. that of the network only leads to 1 block per day on average then solo mining is too difficult. I might give it one more day then this CPU is going back to mining ITNS.

EDIT - I just checked the dashboard and it looks like a block hasn't been found in over an hour and the estimator/hashrate reporting is broken. So, stopping mining completely until it gets sorted out.

EDIT 2 - oops, that is the testnet that hasn't found a block in 1.5 hours. Still, no hashrate or estimates available for the mainnet.

maybe that was the same for me , i am mining for 2 days now but i also wasn't lucky to find one , i'll keep mining for some days because it all depends on luck
also going to take care of upgrading

I didn't get a single block in 3 days with 460-480H/s so I made good on my promise and put the CPU back to work on ITNS. Starting off with luck that bad I would have needed to find 4 blocks on the 4th day just to earn what the calculator predicted I should, and in the immortal words of Sweet Brown, "ain't nobody got time fo dat."

So overall I think this is an interesting concept, but the difficulty and/or block reward are too high for solo mining even with a decent CPU.

how long estimate i found block with 4 core CPU or 290h/s ?

We have an average day estimator on the Nerva Dashboard - https://freeboard.io/board/EV5-se (along with hashrate, marketcap, coins in supply etc)

Would be about every 1.5 days on average.

Changing the algo preemptively is more or less what I and several other people figured would be necessary to truly fend off large mining operations, and requiring solo mining also sidesteps the issue with one pool dominating the hashrate. Finally, the low total coin supply and a reasonable pre-mine amount (I've no problem with pre-mines - devs need to get paid just like anyone else) makes this highly attractive.

So I just downloaded the Window wallet and have reassigned a Ryzen 5 1600 to mining it for the next day or two as a test. If all goes well I might just keep the Ryzen plugging away at it.

And, looks like I am getting 391H/s with 6 threads. Not bad. With xmr-stak I normally configure 8 threads for Monero7, but I recall seeing somewhere that the scratchpad for XVN is half the size (ie - like CN-Lite)? So would 12-16 threads be better?

UPDATE - I switched mining from the wallet to the daemon and bumped the thread count to 7; doing about 450H/s on average now.

POOL IS NOT WORKING; IS IT ?

Pools do not currently support the algorithm. Support for mining pools are a possibility for the future, but currently solo-mining with a CPU is the only option. (No GPU mining)

Solo-mining is still very possible currently, but you could likely wait several days or more to hit a block with a single CPU, depending on your hashrate.
