Blockchain startup Ambrosus (https://ambrosus.com) are implementing a similar concept except that they are also using the power of IoT technology as the framework for the supply system.

Blockchains are particularly useful when system data needs to be stored immutably for safety, security or accuracy, and when many distributed parties all share data within a network and have a shared interest in data sharing being as efficient as possible. For supply chains these two traits are ideal, and are the main reason that the logisitcs industry is one of the largest collective adopters of blockchain.

Ambrosus has built a protocol to manage large and complex decentralisation supply chains using blockchain called AMP-NET. The project is also going a step further to incorporate IoT sensors to act as an intelligent nervous system throughout the production and supply process. By using sensor Ambrosus create autonomous end-to-end networks which mitigate the largest problems that currently face logistics and supply chains: Malicious actions and human error.

Endorsements, support and participation in this project are beyond what most other blockchain projects could dream including legendary scientist and Entrepreneur Dr Gavin Wood, 30 million Swiss Franc's of funding from the Swiss Government and even public support from the UN.
