I'm not all that familiar with merge mining. If you have any ideas as to what could be good to put in the development cycle please just spit them at me.

AuxPow.

Dogecoin, Dingocoin, Fastcoin and even Canada eCoin have it implemented. Check out their code.

As for PoW/PoS, unsure if any offer that AND AuxPow. If you are the first, that would be super cool!

Sorry, I haven't been monitoring this thread

@richshibe it is definitely alive. Progress is slow. We're reeling from the pandemic and trying to hold everything together with threads, leaving little time for things.

I've started building an API and tools as well as a block chain explorer. I also had to fix some issues caused by my inexperience setting up the blockchain. The post by ralph666 probably is describing the problem we experienced where a large number of transactions would go into pending forever. This is fixed with 0.0.3

I'll have a discord setup very soon.

@elmo40 I like the idea of POW/POS and will look at possibly putting that in there. I'm not all that familiar with merge mining. If you have any ideas as to what could be good to put in the development cycle please just spit them at me.

@ENGLAND$RUSSIA - I don't know what a dev exchange is

Yes, strong community and maybe a few more features than what LTC has to offer... PoW/PoS such as with Kotia? Merge mining like Dogecoin?

The wallet is still showing 0, I tried 2 polls and always got the same result

This is just a little bit of fun. But I say if I haven't made a mistake that doesn't work and the system is absolutely flawed.
I would be happy if I had made the mistake, but I've never had anything like it.

The main stumbling block for shops to accept crypto is how to pay their suppliers. They still need fiat for that. If you have a coin and it is not easily converted to fiat, no business will use it.

@retreat, @cryptomaxsun, @tippytoes

This actually all started with me having discussions with local businesses in my area trying to figure out how to potentially get their interest and get them on board using crypto such as Litecoin. I manage IT services for these businesses and so I'm in a good position to talk to them as well as I know about how to integrate things into their systems. I started building simple tools that I can use in my own API/frameworks which later I can then use to build more advanced tools / services.

Everything I started building was based around Litecoin, and at one point I created a complete replica / instance of Litecoin to experiment with. I'm honestly not sure how exactly it happened or the thought process but that became Canuckcoin.

Most of the people I talk to treat crypto like stocks. I'd really like to see crypto used more fluently as currency. I also believe that diverse options are important to have healthy economics of the future. I believe if we have diverse currency options it incentivizes the powers-that-be to be responsible in how they manage things - the same way that healthy competition between businesses tends to promote aligning all parities interests together.

With that said my current short-term goals aren't all that ambitious. I want to have conversations and talk to people: business owners, members of the crypto community and have the conversation and learn more about what could drive more adoption. I also want to be able to quickly build / deploy tools / be in a strong position to integrate crypto into my customer systems. With that said my goals don't revolve specifically around Canuckcoin but I will definitely include it.

I am still a newb with this realm and am learning. I'm happy to take / discuss any ideas and feedback

This is a pure fork of Litecoin.
Why?
Why didn't Litecoin suit?
When such forks are created, at least something is changed.

And if the OP wants this coin to be useful in Canada, he should start collaborating with shops or merchants in Canada that may possibly accept his coin. Because if he will just wait for them, I don't think these shops will voluntarily use his coin. They will prefer btc or eth over unknown alt. So to start with, the OP should talk to at least couple of shops and present this project and see how they will respond.

Full nodes do not need much to operate. The computational power given to them stems from hardware. A server is used to host a node which normally finds its habitat on a computer hard drive and runs through execution of its code by the CPU. That is all u need. No need to sweat upon a toilet seat in tortures over poop ejection. It will come out easily give it time needed for it to carry out the transition from one place to another. Same applies to every process, pretty much every bit of life.

Canuckcoin
A digital currency to meet a digital future.

Canuckcoin is a Canadianized/Themed cryptocurrency. It's a Litecoin fork and follows the same philosophy to prioritize transaction speed.

Highlights
Algorithm: scrypt
Max Coin: 84million
Block Time: 2.5minutes
Reward: 50CAC

Mining
Basically any instructions that work for Litecoin or Dogecoin will work. I haven't been able to setup a pool yet, curious if the community has suggestions on that front.

History
I'm new to this scene. Early this summer I was mostly just messing around with Litecoin and decided to fork, Canadianize, and launch. I started setting up the major items and then got buried in other projects. Slowly making my way back to this as I plan to build it out a lot more.

Goals
  • make this coin useful here in Canada
  • make improvements to the client
  • create a phone app / wallet
  • create a payment processing service / system
  • come up with a way to prevent full nodes from requiring ever-increasing resources

Feedback
I'm reading and learning every chance I get. This has been a good learning experience so far, happy to receive any feedback anyone has! <3
