The risk is the easy target for FUD that using mostly a few VPS operators will provide. The more decentralized the MN network is, the better.
Gotcha. Maybe it'll be better to just leave the minimum VPS requirements in order to run a MN and to remove the vps provider names from the MN guides such as Tao's to make newbies do their own research.
I've been advocating that for awhile. Too many just blindly follow it using Vultr because the guide says to use Vultr when the instructions are nearly the same assuming you find a VPS with similar specs and use Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit as the image.
