i m trying to setup a masternode but i have the "you must set masternode=1 in the configuration" problem when i try to start the masternode. I followed TAOs How to step by step. I ve doublechecked that the .conf files are no .txt files. Do you have to install an absolut fresh wallet or is it ok if u "get address 0" in an existing wallet and then send the 1000 DRK within the wallet? I m a bit desperate, maybe someone could help. Thx in advance.

How does DarkCoin intend to solve the chicken-and-egg problem created by a lack of users discouraging adoption?
I'm not sure if it really is a pure chicken-egg problem, the mixing traffic should rise and anonymity set get larger as adoption rises - not everyone is going to wait until everyone else is using it. Because as long as you have even 2 people mixing (although I think 3 is the minimum required by darksend), you have plausible deniability.
You could simulate background noise traffic, but that gets expensive with tx fees.
That's an idea worth considering imo. Some experiments have already been made with special "liquidity provider" wallets to help crossing over to wider adoption.

What surprised me was that almost instantly--no more than 10 seconds, and probably less than 5, the transaction was added to my wallet balance as confirmed! I do not remember seeing this happen this fast before. Have instant transactions already been implemented???
Instant TX is not released yet, so it was probably just a case of a miner happening to find a block immediately after your transaction was broadcasted.
This was my third round of transferring fractions of BTC to Bitfinex, buying DRK and withdrawing to my personal wallet. I am extremely happy as this has been an experiment in total privacy and anonymity. My acct. on Bitfinex was opened using Tor on Tails, and a Hushmail acct. obtained the same way. Since no fiat was involved there was no reporting or ID required. Given the new Fincen requirements, I doubt this situation will last much longer, but it is nice while it lasts.
A few years ago many would've called you paranoid, but these days, no one.

There are more than 1100MNs now. You'll be chosen less times but you'll get more DRKs.. 25%.. 30%.. 35%.. etc.

But you cant see the rounds you lost to nicehash for example.
Lets see how long enforcement will hold after the new turn on today.
My patiance is near to end after i lost a lot of money on cryptos.
In the end i have to come to the conclusion that there is no way to bet against government controlled fiatmoney. We have negative interest rates, after 40 years of uncovered fiatmoney and the real money gold and silver looses as there would be no end. Hugh demand and declining prices show their current power.
US will fight with all their destructive market manipulation weapons and will completly destroy their own middle class only to save their fiat currency. They will lose the fight against china but thats another long ride, a ride that crypto cant go without dying. Maybe BTC will survice
We are just seeing a big market consolidation, only the very strong will survive and DRK has come up pretty good if you ask me.
The scamming is not Crypto's fault, it's human nature.
You take a poor village in a remote part of the world, give them an internet connection and an unregulated money supply, they will do everything in their power to scam everyone they can. They will rationalise it too by taking the "we are poor and they are rich" stance.
You also lose a lot of empathy and compassion behind a computer screen, so the average Joe that wouldn't dream of snatching a purse from an old lady, is quite happy be more adventurous online under the guise of "It's an Open Market".
So there is the state of modern crypto.
You've got your right wing traditionalists that wont even touch Crypto without compliance and regulation in place, you have your left wing libertarians that will resist any form of control points or regulation, the real solution we end up with in 10 years time will be somewhere in the middle.

FYI, I bought some DRK on Bitfinex two days ago. The transaction showed in my acct as soon as I refreshed my browser. I decided I did not want to leave this on the exchange so I withdrew it to my personal wallet. The email requesting withdrawal confirmation arrived in my inbox within 10 seconds. I clicked confirm, and my personal wallet registered the unconfirmed transaction in less than 10 seconds.
