Fake news, voting frauds, a rise in populism and divided public opinions — democracies around the world are under constant pressure online from the digital revolution. With the increased presence of technology in our daily lives, it is suffice to say that our personal data and privacy are both a concern, especially when it comes to elections. Too often we hear how governments are able to intrude on our privacy through the internet, social media, mobile phone data and much more.

I've been following Agora. The thing that caught my attention about them is the actual technology behind it. Their white paper is very academic along with those of bitcoin and eth. They propose to solve some of the scalability issues needed for mass voting with multi-chain copying of the voting record

Below is a breakdown of the risks and opportunities associated with Agora.
Risks
    If demand for VOTE tokens mainly based on Agora being used for elections, it seems that token demand is driven by the Agora team’s ability to get contracts. Contracting with governments to oversee elections is no small task (-0.2)
    Related to the above, according to the table posted in the Token Economics section of this review, a 50 million voter election would only lead to a purchase of $1m in VOTE tokens. How many elections per year does Agora expect to handle? Agora won’t buy massive amounts of VOTE (and drive trading volume) unless the whole world were to adopt Agora for voting (farfetched – for now) (-0.2)
    There seems to be no other use for the tokens other than paying nodes that verify election results and audit those results (-0.2)
    What is the difference between company tokens and team tokens in the token distribution? (-0.1)
    Lied or was otherwise misleading about using blockchain in Sierra Leone’s 2018 presidential elections (-0.15)
    None of the heads of business development (former ambassadors and so on) or project ambassadors (Mauritian presidents, former wives of Ukrainian presidents, etc.) listed on the Agora team page, list Agora on their Linkedin profiles (-0.15)
Growth Potential
    Very good PR team – able to get published in even major, non-crypto publications like World Economic Forum and TechCrunch (+2)
Disposition
Voting is something that could really use innovation via new technology like blockchain but from an investment standpoint, Agora isn’t looking too good. Agora receives a 1/10.

The more people will come, the more profitable we will be able to be, of course. But, the amount we raise do not determine the number of people that will use the marketplace. Being an investor and being a user is two different kind of thing.

It will be interesting  how this work out, low interest in the project and I don't know where they team will get capital to generate sustainable passive income promised here because low community support is a very big concern here

Hello, yes that is correct : no more token can be created after the end of the ICO.
For the data on our website it is supposed to be realtime and can be delayed to, at most, 30 seconds (due to some caching).

Half way through the ICO, a little bit more raised than the half of the required value. We're preparing a big update on the project with an online MVP .

Here is how the smart-contract is calculating it :


Your calculation is correct. For one token bought, there is 1.16 token created. The 0.16 more created are indefinitely frozen (cannot be exchanged). It is made this way so we can have sustainable gain to develop the marketplace overt the time.

Yeh this is what confused me in your whitepaper: "For 1 token created for a shareholder, 1/6 more token are created and given to the contract owner."

So does that mean that the development team will hold 1/6 of all tokens or 0.166/1.166 ~ 14.2% of tokens?

The token distribution last 2 months. There is no maximum cap. The total of token released after the ICO period can never be changed. 1/6 of the tokens are owned by the development team. If you want more details, you can find it in our whitepaper .

The funds will be used for :

 - ~70% : Developing/Designing the marketplace
 - ~10% : Legal consideration
 - ~20% : Marketing, helping marchants to create an account

We do know it can seem long, that's why we've decided to make the ICO open until the 15th of October, and to motivate people to start invest in our project, we've added the 10% offer at the opening.

No, it's too soon for a demo of the platform. We've finished designing all smart-contracts used by the platform, we are reviewing and testing them as we are talking. We will publish them on GitHub so people will be able to audit it before we deploy it. (probably next week)

We don't want to make the same mistakes as previous projects : rushing the contract development and getting stuck with some limitations, or worst.

By the 15th September, we will have deployed the "claiming" contract (the one that generates passive incomes) and the market contract itself on the Ethereum chain.

• We want the user to be able to use the market the most natural way. Just going to an URL must be enough. No software installation etc... We will be working with public nodes. Of course, if the user wants to use its own node, he also can.
• To register only an Ethereum Wallet is enough.
• We want to be able to suggest goods that can interest you, but respecting your private life must be taken into account. Creating a decentralized search-engine/recommendation  based on IPFS and Ethereum will be one of our biggest challenge.
• To get the community truly involved, the shareholders that get involved into the community generate passive incomes based on the 2% fee taken from every transactions made over the marketplace.
