Thx for the nice words guys!

Still working my but off to add more and more features!

Greetings!
Eliovp, how does one go about acquiring a copy of your PandaOS? Just received a b5+ unit and not hashing anywhere near it's reported 110MH for eth.  Interested in seeing if I can get any closer with your OS.

What are the future plans of this OS as of 6/17

Lots of idea's, not much time Smiley

I'll update this thread in the upcoming weeks.

Is it possible to work out a deal for 5 Pandas or are you only selling 25+ ?

I've seen some nice pictures of Dual Mining results..

I've never done it and i will never do it.

Some guy, yeah you all know who, implemented it into his miners..
Marketing at it's best..

Not advocating dual mining on an MXM chassis but I see few things wrong with this picture -- I'm guessing its at least a few years old.

Person is using Ribbon style PCIE Risers, looks like they overloaded their power bar.

My guess this same person also overloaded their risers using power extensions which caused the rig to burn up.

This is purely speculation based upon what I see in this photo.

I'm curious what the source of the photo is? I'd love to read more about it.

I've been trying out Eliovp's mxm ROMS on my pandas, slowly applying them to one card at a time, and can definitely say I'm pleased with the results.

A pandaminer that I just finished flashing (takes me about a day to flash a rig since I do one card and a time and then let it mine to validate stability):

Solid 2MH/s/card increase on Ethereum.

Great stuff Eliovp!

Sure thing! Smiley

Did you try dual mining eth+dcr with Eliovp ROMs?

No i haven't, i like to keep my cards a bit longer.

Especialy MXM cards, if you want to get them dead rather quickly, go dual mine.

i made those when it was optiminer 1.2 or something.. 1.7 is a lot more intensive, i'll see what i can do Wink

If I run this OS on some hosted Pandaminers in another Country do they need to have open ports for me to login and manage from my Country?

Nope, I am in the USA and I have 56 on his service right now

But how do you access them remotely without open ports on the hosting side?

A router off the shelf, cisco, dlink etc should work fine.  I have a higher end sonicwall that I did not have to mod either.  Since most routers are set to outbond traffic is not restricted you should not have an issue.

It's web based.  You don't access your machines directly, you access his website and my machines are in constant communication with the web interface.  Therefore if you send a reboot command in less than a min you system will restart for example.

Thanks for the information dagarair, much appreciated.

Good to know open ports are not needed.
My pandaminers will be hosted in Canada as power is too expensive in my Country and my host mentioned they do not have any ports open for security reasons.

Hi Eliovp,

Me again, I am just getting started on the OS and trying to accomplish the following:

5 groups, at the moment will mine full speed with all she got with XMR mining at "stratum+tcp://cryptonight.hk.nicehash.com:3355"

I would like to use sgminer-gm v5.5.5-4 for the groups below and each group will have a different mining settings maximizing the GPU type.

Group 1: R9-390 (sgminer-gm v5.5.5-4, -ri 680 -w 8 -g 2)
Group 2: R9-Nano (sgminer-gm v5.5.5-4, -ri 896 -w 8 -g 1)
Group 3: R7-370 (sgminer-gm v5.5.5-4, -ri 896 -w 8 -g 1)
Group 4: R9-290 (sgminer-gm v5.5.5-4, -ri 896 -w 8 -g 1)
Group 5: RX480 (sgminer-gm v5.5.5-4, -ri 1008 -w Cool

Using the Grouping feature, I have created 5 groups as per above but, I can't set individual sgminer settings to each group.

Please advise or any workaround.

Thanks

Nice I have the pandaminer and I have 8 rigs with msi rx 470.
I got the group buy going for the pandaminer. Keep posting how this works out for you.

I am getting 2 os  one on the panda miner and maybe one for the msi rx 470 rigs.

Hi Eliovp,

2 suggestions/inquiries/observations:

1. Grouping Rigs by IP range.
Can I use 192.168.x.x - 192.168.x.x, 192.168.x.x to group rigs by range and another IP, separated by comma?
If cannot, then can I change the rig's IP address permanently via the portal?

2. Some miners support failover pool like sgminer-gm on the same command line... how do to do this with your current GUI?
For Claymore miners... usually failover pools will require epools.txt, how to do this?

Your OS if designed for GPU farms, failover pool is mandatory because mining needs to be 24x7 with maximum hashing power without unnecessary downtime.

Anyways, looking good this OS, very clever design.

Thanks!

1. You can create as many groups as you want, so your idea, the comma separated part, you can easily solve this by just creating a second group and point it at the same pool/wallet as the other group.

Example:
Rigs in range: 192.168.1.10-192.168.1.25 will point to Algo A with Wallet A
Rigs in range: 192.168.1.50-192.168.1.55 will point to Algo B with Wallet B
You can easily then add a third group like so: 192.168.1.60-192.168.1.61 (2 rigs, or even 1 if you want) that also point to Algo 1 with Wallet A.

Possibilities are wide Smiley

2. It's all been taken care of Smiley, i just (i know) have to still add this to the manager, it's already there in the backend.
Been a bit busy the past few days to add new things/improve other things. But i'll be on top of it again starting from tomorrow!

Some updates:

- Added the ability to add a fixed IP or change back to dhcp.
- Added custom flags for configs, you can know specifiy intensity, worksize, threads, etc..
- Added grouping! If you have multiple rigs you can put those in a group, for example: Rigs 1 - 10 -> group1 -> pool A -> wallet A.
- A bunch of other cleanups :p

Which makes his rom pretty valuable for bigger players.

@ Eliovp   I am playing with simpleminer and learning how to use it.

Your os is similar correct?

If I image to a usb will the pandaminer boot from a usb stick or do I need to image to a msata?

You can image it on a usb stick as well, but i would prefer not to.

It's just simply better to not run an OS on a usb stick becuase of the constant read/write..
If you have a very good and fast usbstick, yeah, that might be ok as well.

Greetings!

I have tried ethOS, SMos on USB stick and you really need USB3 type for best results.

4GB RAM is more than enough... so take that few dollars saved on RAM and spend it on a nice small 32/64gb mSATA........ after all its a full fledge operating system.

I had 1 32gb usb3 stick pretty fast.  But I do have msatas I will image them shortly.

I will end up with 3 msatas :

 1 with stock windows 10
 1 with simpleminer  os
 1 with Eliovp  os

Mind you I have not done much with  linux .  So here is a new chance to learn.

Works like a champ, easy to setup and efficient as hell.  I am considering more based on what I am seeing right now.  If you are thinking getting it, get it.  It's expensive but in my humble option, it's for sure worth it.

yeah if you have enough miners it will save you money.

my stock xmr is 5950 at 990 watts

Eliovp  xmr is 6400 at 830 watts

so  in a month 120 kwatts total of 12 dollars at 10 cents  a kwatt

and in a month it earns about 1.86 extra XMR about 22.20

so 1 panda = 34 a month more profit

Basically  3  pandas would be 100 a month  a fairly fast payback.  for the price.

Yeah it's well worth it IMO.  Stable as fook and you can globally manage it.

yeah what I am doing now is simpleminer as I have only one pandaminer.
I am also selling off the other rigs I will end up with three to five pandaminers and then pick up this os/rom for the three of four rigs.

Does the rig support solo mining? If solo mining is possible, does it include a getwork-stratum proxy (stratum on miner side, get-work on node side)?

If you pay 400$ (and buy the pandaminer directly on the panda miner site) you get the OS and the ROM, each rig will cost you only 30$ afterwords. Thats totally fine I would say. i Agree to buy the pandaminer with the OS and ROM as one package its expensive but as long as you buy the panda miner by urself its totally okay.

So the rom mod is a one time purchase, after that you pay only for the licence per pandaminer to run the OS ?

Yes I would think so  Smiley

Ok so basically you can buy 2 images, 1x with only the OS (free) , 1x with the OS + bios mod (free + 400$), and after that you only have to pay for the OS licence (30$ ish) per pandaminer you use the OS image on. That make more sense Smiley

Would be something if i would charge 400 for every pandaminer Cheesy

That wouldn't be very fair now would it? Smiley

thats not a bad deal, assuming you are buying at least 3 pandas to spread the cost

Yes of course, that's how i understood it, but at least that made it clear for everyone, seems there was some confusion about it Smiley, it is also the reason it's aimed @ good sized farm let's say 10-20 panda so that it doesn't cost you too much per panda for the bios mod Smiley it all make sense  Wink

Nice work! Sad it unavailable for regular rigs...
$1000 usd per rig for some fancy web screens and some neat tools?
only large farms can afford that , maybe an extra $100
per miner would be worth it $200 at the most

margins are already thin for most miners its great work but
not many will be able to afford it

Thx everyone for the nice words Smiley

Really appreciate it!

Will continue my work on the monitor/manager.

Got a huge todo list which i plan to finish ASAP.

Something that i haven't seen mentioned before, the pandaminer gets delivered with already modified roms.
Meaning, they already used PolarisBiosEditor to copy straps.

So on top of that, i was still able to increase the hash and decrease power Smiley

a quick first replay because I bought already the Pandaminer OS with the ROM for the MXM cards.

Quit suprised over all I can say already  Smiley

PandaMiner OS is working as expected. Full review will follow in a few days.
What should I test on it? For now, I running monero on it and it uses around 830w in total for the whole panda miner which is way more better than with the stock rom (which was around 950w).

Also I tested just the mxm rom on a Windows Panda Miner, I let it run for a few hours mining monero now and got a stable hashrate around 6500 h/s! This is pretty impressiv because with the stock rom I got only a stable hashrat around 5950 h/s!

I'll do a full review in a couple of days with some screenshot of course.

Let me know if you would like to see some test results for other crypts.

Just for now, Eliovp did already a great Job with the MXM 480 rom! And he is as well on a really good way for is PandaMiner OS. If you are planing to run some pandaminers you should definatly get in touch with him  Cheesy

thanks for it Eliovp and for your trust in me Smiley

best regards
slim

Did you buy an already modified pandaminer or did you mod it yourself and load up Pandaminer OS?

I have already two panda miners. I bought just the OS from Eliovp with the rom included. He will give you a download link for the OS image and some instructions how to but it on the panda miner. It's really easy and after you restored the image on your panda, just boot and the graphic card will be flashed fully automatically with his awesome custom rom. It all takes about 10-15min and than you have a perfectly managed running panda miner Smiley

Eliovp, I fully support your decision. It looks like you've put a lot of work into this, well done, and good luck.

Yes  he did 2-3 weeks of work he deserves a paycheck.

It is tough on anyone that wanted 1 or 2 pandaminers as it is too costly for them to buy from him. I will continue with the stock miner and sell off more gear.  Once I have enough for a second pandaminer and have read how well this build does I will spring for the os and the roms.

For now I will use stock os with claymore 9.7 and mine xmr.

Seems to run the coolest doing xmr  which allows my fan mod to turn down the sound a bit more.

I finally got around to setting up xmr on stock windows on the pandaminer I can confirm stock pandaminer does 5850-5950 pulls around 1000 watts using an evga 1600 g2 psu.

I have yet to get the os+rom from Eliovp, but if and when I do I will post numbers also.

Stock pandaminer  for me =

 eth not stable
zec stable at 1.7h  with around 1000 watts
xmr stable at 5900h with around 1000 watts     in both case all stock other then my fan mod.

so if you are getting 5 pandaminers or more  a jump in xmr from 5900h to 6500h and a drop in watts of 12% is pretty good.deal.

My pandaminer w/ Chinese W10 (Crimson V16.9.2) is stable in all eth/zec/xmr
Only first run in first hour was a bit unreliable in eth. Then I updated all mining SW (all new Claymore) and 2 weeks it is working without problems.
ZEC (Clay 11.1) is about 2065s/s, ETH 232MHash

What was your default frequencies? There are plenty .rom files in the directory c:\01
In my PandaM it is 1220MHz core/2000 mem. I heard that some people have a different values.
Otherwise ASIC quality is in average a bit lower (65,65,66,67,64,69,80,74%)

Looks like SimpleMiningOS, but little bit more expensive  Grin Grin Grin
Why are you limiting yourself by a pandaminer thing? They will produce 500 pieces ? 1000? 5000?  Uncompared to regular mining rigs.
Strange decision!
Haha,

Looks like Ethos, Pimp and SimpleminingOS, a combination of the best features of them all + some extra..

Expensive is relative. It could be for you, but not for someone who sees the benefit of it. Don't forget that the high price mainly comes from the rom.

If you would realize how much work, time and effort it takes to create something like this, you'd think otherwise.
If Simplemining admin wants to do all of this for free, that's good for him Smiley I don't. Wink

I'm limiting myself because as i've mentioned, i do not have the time and to be honest, not in the mood to offer support for single copies or a lot of people.

+ like you said yourself, there's already PiMP, Ethos and Simplemining.

All is about price/performance...

How is it with fan speed control? Is it only software mod, or any hw mod? And fan speed range in %?
Im asking because I have my Pandaminer in very cold room where is only 5C.

Exactly my thoughts.

Fan speed control works just fine, but not on the pandaminer as those fans are not controllable.
If you check Phillip's thread you'll see that he did a small mod to be able to control them.

Anyhow, in my case, those gpu's almost never exceed 50 degrees..

I will boot it up and i'll let it mine to the demo account so you can see.

Greetings.

If you do something for free or for pennies, and the only thing you get is complaints or people with issues, that is something that does definitely not drive you to improve things, that will only drive you off of a bridge.

Keep up good work and don't listen to haters. Just show end results once and again, it will piss them off even more Cheesy

demo version - 268s/s ZEC it is with your modified ROM?
in my Win10 (no special mod) it is 258s/s so gain 10s/s is relatively small

Will you offer for free miner software update as is common in ethOS, simpleminingOS etc?

3200EUR ?
I paid to DHL (EU) VAT only aprox. 37USD, so in total incl. shipping 2360USD.
3200EUR is aprox. 3400USD so you want more than 1000USD (!) more...
Are you VAT registered?

Otherwise good job, but min. 10 licences and 400USD with ROM is too high. You're killing it by this price :-(

That's just 1 card hooked up to the test system to show in the demo Smiley, it doesn't have the mod for the panda gpu's.

(Check the speed again, 290ish.. i just changed it, especially for you :p)

Yeah, 3200eur vat included.
I'm not selling only the panda miner, i'm selling it completely modified, faster,  more power friendly, remotely manageable, monitor, ..
Oh, forgot to mention, important thing, this includes a PSU.
I am VAT registered yes

It's either 10 licenses minimum or 400 if you take only the rom + a single copy.
As i said, for a small home miner it indeed is expensive, i can't argue that.

Greetings!
and how it is with free miner software update? (future versions Claymore/optiminer/sgminer etc.)
yes, 290s/s looks better, but also it is on much higher freq.

"for a small home miner it indeed is expensive"
In my experience, larger buyers pushes the price of a lot more than smaller home miners...

Otherwise I'm interested, but certainly not for 400USD.

Edit: High freq? :p those cards are stock 1300+ core, trust me , these are definitely not high freq.'s :p

Updates are included, same thing as i said above, i will upgrade the manager/monitor almost every day with new features.
This also includes new miners if and when they are available and stable.

Also a reason why i'm not selling single copies.

If someone else want to do a lot of work for free or for pennies, that is their thing, i'm not going to.
Getting paid for something you love to do drives you to make it even better.
If you do something for free or for pennies, and the only thing you get is complaints or people with issues, that is something that does definitely not drive you to improve things, that will only drive you off of a bridge.

I'm not forcing anyone anything. I'm offering it and if it does not fit you in some way, no worries! Smiley

Greetings!

demo version - 268s/s ZEC it is with your modified ROM?
in my Win10 (no special mod) it is 258s/s so gain 10s/s is relatively small

Ok, i will most probably disappoint a few people with my decision but i have a few reasons why i decided to go this route.

1. I have no time to support multiple people with questions remarks, etc..
2. I've spent a large amount of time on this, so basically risking it all by selling single copies is not something i want to do.
(in other words, if i sell one copy for example, it'll take a week before someone shares it, with this i'm more concerned about the rom..)
3. There are other alternatives which also work perfectly and give awesome support, PiMP for example..

So, what i decided to do.

What i will offer

- A package for european people: Pandaminer + "OS, Monitor, Remote Management" + ROM for 3200EUR VAT incl.
- I will not offer single copies of the PandamOS, reasons why are stated above. I will however sell the rom for 400$ and a single copy of the OS will be included. (writing this on multiple systems will have no point as you won't be able to use it without me activating it)
- Regarding the OS, i will only offer a minimum of 25 copies. It's just not interesting for me otherwise. And as i said before, i know what will happen if i agree on single copies.
- Last thing i offer is a "Fee base" system, i agree, still not interesting for small home miners. And i apologise for that.
Again, it's just not interesting for me otherwise.

So in other words, yes i know, what i offer is very interesting for large scale miners and not so for smaller ones.

On the other hand, like i said, there are plenty of other alternatives for all you small home miners Smiley

I'm always open for negotiation though. Pm me for that.

If you want to have a feel on how everything works, i have set up a demo rig and a demo account.
You are not able to change anything, which is kind of obvious :p.
I add new features almost every day.
In other words, everything you can think of, or almost everything will eventually be included.
- Single rig control, single gpu control, creating groups for your rigs (ideal if you want to mine several coins), etc...

Also available prewritten on an msata drive.

Greetings.

His hashrate crushes mine for zcash .

I do 1700 with clay 9.1  he is doing 2400+   To be fair clay 11.1  does 2000 but that is lower then 2400 by a lot.

Please note those fans speeds at 73%  they give good temps for the gpus.

My mechanical mod of the fans to about 9 volts  which is about 75% power  gives  me stable   run time.
So we are in line with 70-75%  fan speed working okay to cool gpus
So this gear would not be a screamer beast.

Very nice I am looking forward to an image to put on the spare msata I purchased.

Quando Quando Quando do I get the image?

Update (3 Nov 17):

Seeing that this thread got some attention lately, i saw it necessary to write something quickly.

I decided only to support large operations.

This isn't something i decided today or yesterday, has been going on for quite a while now.
This is also the reason for my inactivity lately.

Again, only supporting large operations/farms.

For all the others out there, you have plenty of other alternatives to choose from....  Ethos, Pimp, etc..

Regarding VBIOS modifications, that is something i can still do from time to time Smiley

Cheerio!
