Ezil.me ETH + ZIL Dual Mining
Zilliqa is an exciting crypto project. With a throughput of 2400 tx/s, it is the very first permissionless blockchain to fully implement sharding. The Zilliqa smart contract protocol has high credibility in the cryptosphere. Founded in 2015 on strong academic principles, Zilliqa is now backed by a serious team of full-time developers.
Problem
The Zilliqa team came up with an innovative way of mining, including the introduction of a new miner called the "Zilminer" which runs in parallel with established miners. The Zilminer switches off during the ZIL Proof of Work (PoW) round and starts up again just after it. This system is simple, however, in practice there are problems. After four to five rounds, GPUs tend to hang up, requiring a reboot of the whole rig. When we first started mining ZIL four months ago, this constant rebooting was having a significant impact on our revenue.
Opportunity
Under the Zilliqa mining protocol, you have to mine ZIL for just one minute in each two-three hour window. The rest of the time, you are free to turn off your hardware or switch back to another coin such as ETH. From the (smart) miner’s perspective, it is this feature of the Zilliqa mining protocol that gives the coin a high potential for profitability.
Solution
To solve the rebooting problem and exploit the ZIL mining opportunity, we developed the Ezil.me ETH + ZIL Dual Mining Pool. The pool mines ETH as the main coin and switches to ZIL during its PoW round. This solution is much more effective. Not only is hardware safe, but there is almost no equipment downtime and no wasted time in general. It's very easy to connect because the pool supports all stratum miners, including Claymore and Phoenix.
Result
Our unique mining pool has grown in just a few months to become the biggest public Zilliqa mining pool, currently boasting 2600 connected rigs (https://miningpoolstats.stream/zilliqa).

Is it more profitable than raw ETH mining?
This of course depends on the ZIL exchange rate and its difficulty, but for now we are seeing profitability of +5-8%

Main Features
The pool implements Stratum Protocol instead of getWork. Stratum provides 50% more effective hashrate than getWork on ZIL.
Fair reward distribution: Ezil.me utilises the opportunities of our own ETH pool. We have all the shares of particular miner, so we can use 20 minutes PPLNS for ZIL.
Payouts in ETH and ZIL are made every 20 minutes.
