From my perspective as far as our country is concerned, we are in the 2009 era of bitcoin i.e entrepreneurs are more interested in starting an exchange, government is trying to bring new laws and many are only interested in trading aspect. Bitcoin based social medias would be gradually developing and would find light probably by this year or next year and I believe at that time we would be seeing new trends in our forum and the subreddit.

This year, I am thinking of moving slowly away from my personal gains and dedicating more time to develop bitcoin in India on a larger scale. But, I would like to forever remain as an anonymous entity on the internet and do the best of what I could by placing myself behind the computer screen. I and xdrpx came up with Monthly Discussion topics in our subreddit and along with that currently myself and 2 others from this local board has set up strong future plans and we had begun the works for the same today. If things goes as planned, this year will act as a very strong foundation towards Bitcoin in India for the decades to come.

We will be sharing the developments to the community as days passes by.

There is something more on top of this subreddit. I and a few others involved would like to keep the plan as a low profile for time being and it would be announced when the time comes! We believe these plans will change the mindset of Indians towards Bitcoin!

The banner is slick. Good job Mr. H, as always. BTW, i don't know what r/India would have to say about you saffronizing the Red fort..I am sure you forgot the politics while doing that..LOL.

Joined the reddit. The topics are well moderated and the discussions are good. Gave you my free Hugz too.

I think it'll be really beneficial for both the communities to be brdiged in this way.

Excellent initiative Heisenberg_ hunter. Unfortunately I don't have a very active Reddit account as just trying to stay away from social media a bit but these sorts of subreddits are something which social media usefull. I think I need to set up my Reddit account once again. If we see with a longer perspective I think people would gradually be more and more interested in Bitcoin with surge in price and hopefully a good legislation in future. Forum in itself is a great source of information for them but unfortunately the member hierarchy is cumbersome for someone new. A subreddit is actually a much better place for such people and combining it with Forum gives them twin advantage. A more structured community is always beneficial for everyone.

A very good initiative @Heisenberg_Hunter . I have recently joined reddit and can already see some good traction on the bitcoinindia subreddit.
Combining bitcointalk and reddit will open up a wider frame of information to the people. This will help a wide variety of audience with the right information.
I have already started posting comments on a few posts on reddit and I am glad people are finding it helpful.
I will try to contribute as much as I can towards this forum and now obviously bitcoinindia subreddit so that users don't fall prey to scam and get the right information regarding crytpo.

Yes, this is the exact vision for this start. Since the subreddit is a Bitcoin-Only community, we don't have any plans of hosting AMAs with Altcoiners 

Excellent initiative! I also had this long-standing thought of developing a community for Indians where once a week everyone can ask their doubts related to bitcoin and group of more-knowledgeable members can host the discussion. This process of knowledge sharing can continue for years and once newbie members can become host in future discussions. Then occasionally, crypto industry leaders from India like CEOs of big Exchanges, founders of leading Indian altcoin projects can come as guest host and conduct AMA sessions. This will stir the entrepreneurship spirit in the Indian bitcoiners (something at which we Indians really suck). It's nice to see that you are trying to achieve the exact same vision and I will try my best to contribute for the cause.

It's actually good idea to club two communities. I never used Reddit before but joining now and see if I can come up with some ideas to increase the engagements on both platform and attract more Indians toward bitcoin.

According to official stats, Reddit is most visited forum and eighteenth most visited site globally but we have far less Indians who visit the site on a regular scale. Over the past 3-4 years, I have been using reddit actively on my personal account but recently I got to know about a separate local subreddit for our Bitcoin India community. Bitcoin is doing extremely good in India in terms of investments and globally and our subreddit is gaining new traction since then. Since there was only a single active moderator to handle the insane spams generating, I thought of offering a helping hand.

The current stats of our r/BitcoinIndia subreddit :






With the recent surge in Bitcoin prices, we have a huge 7,851 page views and 842 unique visitors visiting our subreddit in these 25 days and I believe this will be rising up in the upcoming months. After getting to know about the availability of our community, I offered to help them through moderation to clean up the community and spice up things a little. After a few discussions with the the admin, I was appointed as a moderator for the community.

xrdpx is an excellent moderator who was working solely in cleaning up the spams prevailing over there for 2 years, so to decrease their workload and bring some additional traction to the community I staged this request and was accepted as a result. Being the only moderator for managing 1.5k members will be a hectic task and after I got into the position, I helped them in cleaning up a little and along with xdrpx made the community more vibrant for a pleasant stay to the members.

Vision

Over the past week, I managed to design a banner and logo and along with that write a FAQ topic to help the new joiners in knowing more about Bitcoin. This will help them get educated more on the trading as well as technical side and will probably be as useful as a sword for fighting the shitcoiners in future.

Currently, we are adding more information to the Wiki page related to Bitcoin in India and I would like our Bitcointalk community to co-exist along with r/BitcoinIndia and shape them as one single stronger Bitcoin community in future. We are also editing the FAQ currently and will be making this into a community contribution in future so that everyone can add their inputs to shape the topic well.

On top of this, once we have a good user base set up, we are thinking of creating AMAs with Indian Bitcoiners as well. Here in such a case, the members of Bitcointalk and r/BitcoinIndia will be able to ask questions and learn more about Bitcoin from prominent and popular Indian Bitcoiners. But currently this is a future plan and it wouldn’t materialize unless there is a good user base visiting the subreddit and our forum.

Once we have a decent traffic, weekly price discussions and technical discussion topics would pop-up where more veteran members can help the newbies in answering their questions. This can help new joiners to keep an eye on the price of Bitcoin and discuss about the technical aspects actively.

Even after 2 years of rigorous efforts to bring activity towards our local board, we failed to bring some and we were left only with a handful of old members contributing positively to the board. I hope, if our subreddit and Bitcointalk co-exist with various established users of our forum pitching in their thoughts to develop r/BitcoinIndia, we can make our community more stronger for the future generations.

1. Spam free discussion about Indian crypto goings: I and xrdpx moderate the community on a active scale, so you would be seeing lesser spams from members.

2. Awards for quality contributions : Awards are like Merits of our forum. They are a way of awarding quality contributions to a post. We are into initial stage of creating this and it might take a random time frame of 1 month to several months based on the user participation in our subreddit.

3. No Trading : No scams and marketplace trading where the majority of newbies are being scammed. r/BitcoinIndia is only for discussions related to Bitcoin in India and if someone needs to trade, they should be heading over to Marketplace (India)

4. More sophisticated customization tools are being provided by Reddit to the moderators so that we can shape the community better.

5. Auto-MOD : An Auto-mod feature is currently in our to-do plans to help us more in moderation tasks.
