The developers of this coin used a trusted setup to initiate the zerocoin protocol instead of opting for the trustless RSA-UFO system outlined by the anoncoin developers.. IMO this coin was dead before it was launched. I stopped mining this coin as should everyone else. The possibility exists that the devs could mint an unlimited amount of zcoin and dump it into the market if the coin ever gained any kind of market share. Unless you trust that they won't.

"When a zerocoin is minted, the coin is added as a member to the set of all zerocoins by way of a one-way cryptographic accumulator. In order to prove later that a given zerocoin belongs to this set, during the initial setup of the accumulator, it is necessary to define a number N (or a set of such numbers) that is the product of at least two distinct prime numbers; this number becomes the accumulator modulus for the Zerocoin implementation. If the prime numbers are large enough, it would be infeasible for any party to factor N. However, any entity that knows all the factors would be able to bypass the security of the system and forge zerocoin membership proofs; it is impossible to verify that the factors were not saved by the generating party after multiplying together to form N. Anoncoin solves this setup problem by using RSA UFOs (generalized RSA moduli of unknown complete factorization) for the accumulator moduli which can be generated in a trustless manner, meaning there is never a time when the factors are known to any party; the setup does not require any trusted third parties."

Additionally, the circumstances behind the launch of the coin are also questionable. No ANN made by the devs on these forums where the majority of the altcoin community reside. Ethereum launched an ANN thread here so that should mean something. The article on bitcoin.com is also questionable as it doesn't mention anything about the trusted setup. Either the author of the article is ignorant or is in on it. The lack of an ANN thread here makes me lean to the latter. This coupled with the launch of an ASIC friendly algo to instamine block 0-500 then switched to an algo that can't be used at present by any GPU or mining pool software. For me, there are too many red flags here to consider mining or investing. People on these forums love to get scammed, so help yourself.

They state Scrypt-N on the homepage, but it seems to be lyra-2 when you look at the (rather old) codebase..

Another coin that wants to ride on the waves of zcash Smiley
There was a fork that changed the algo from Scrypt-N to lyra2 due to ASICS dominating the network.  It's a lot different than zcash.  Similar name though.

Also, the dev was on Let's Talk Bitcoin the other day and created Vertcoin.

I am not the developer of this coin. Please stop PM asking about Bounties and such. I just found this on Reddit and it wasn't posted here before.

Why can't they even wait for ZCASH to launch first and see the success before all these copy cat coin flying arround. It will be interesting to see what happen to these coins in general
