There's are multiple huge issues with Bytecoin clones(Monero, Quazarcoin, fantomcoin etc etc) like blockchain bloating and scaling issues

But the biggest so far is: You're limited in the amount of coins you can send....especially if you're a miner and getting a lot of dust transactions, you're extremely limited. I tried and was unable to even send 50 coins to another personal wallet...That may be the death of Bytecoin/Cryptonote coins...

I've personally transferred 40 000 XMR in a single transaction when escrowing a trade for someone. The dust payout issue hasn't happened for a while, not since zone117x fixed his pool software to stop paying dust. Consolidating dust is annoying, but doable, and there shouldn't be dust payouts to miners at all in the future. To try and ease the effort required to consolidate dust, the wallet will try and automatically large amount split transactions over as many as 30 transactions (this is not in the binaries, but has been in the main github repo for a month or so, and will be in the next tagged release).

I believe in XC.

But why is the question. I mean i am not saying it will not become the dominant anon crypto. However do you fully understand why this coins tech sets it above other coins? i bought a few k of it for sure since it sounds very good and the dev appears to be top notch. However when you are not a tech boffin is hard to really grasp how good or talented any coder is. It sounds convincing to me but would be good to have an open comparison between all of these methods.

I see HON seems to have been a scam? just said they are introducing anon and yet NOTHING heard from the dev.

This seems the latest scam, promise lots of things then don't deliver.

I get a lot of small transactions known as dust transactions, and it limits me from sending too much coins to another personal wallet. I don't know if this is the case with non miners, but its pretty annoying to me.

I'm non-miner and i have never seen that problem at my end, so the problem would only being seen by small miners who get too many dust transactions from pool. I don't think this issue can kill Monero/CN, it will be less and less happened as long as Monero continue growing. All the pool can contribute to network by setting bigger payout limit.

Strange, never heard of that before. Then again i never mined any of this. So your coins are trapped in your wallet now you've mined them? or did you just mean this was a temp issue?

Yeah, strange, hopefully they can fix that up. These ring sig coins seem pretty new so i guess they will work to improve them.

Does byte coin offer anomnity? It's thread's title suggests it does.

Bytecoin (CPU-mining, true anonymity)][BCN] Bytecoin (CPU-mining, true anonymity)

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bcn-bytecoin-secure-private-untraceable-since-2012-512747

I know fedora coin has a mixing service, but someone said it's not working properly or something. I'm not sure if he was right or not.

Was fedora the first? Did stable coin suggest it first but never got around to pulling it off.?

i guess the mixing part is the same for most. It is the process by which the mixing is conducted that seems to differ.

I see CINNI saying some of the other mixing methods are not as good as the one they are working on. Of course i have no idea if it is or not.

I mean really it would be awesome for some super boffin who clearly understands it to lay it out for everyone else in simple terms and do a comparison.

MRO , yes i have heard it gives the highest level of anon.

Monero, btw new symbol is XMR not MRO.
It's 100% decentralized anon.
I think it will get much more popular when proper GUI wallet is released.
I think the only problem with XMR is blockchain bloat, but I've seen that there is already some kind of beta version of project that aims to cut the size of Bitcoin blockchain to just 1 week of data, if this works I think it could be ported to XMR.

Yes, Bytecoin BCN offer anon, XMR is based on BCN.

Under the new devs Pinkcoin (believe it or not) seems to have functional and tested anon features.  Shitty color coin becomes head of the class?

PINK is now anon too? okay will add it to the list.

I believe DRK have used anon techniques and that is built on NXT. I am not sure how they are implemented though.

currently i see only monero and other cryptonote coins having anonymity implemented to protocol level. All others based on Bitcoin protocol (which doesn't support privacy), therefore they have to rely on extra networks of "masternodes" or something similar to provide mixing service. i don't know about XC and CRY but it seems these coins are pretending to be anonymous, dev just promise anonymity "will" come in future.

So now a lot of coins are promising anon features. Let's have some clued up tech types explain to us which methods will work, which won't work, and which are just pure marketing bullshit.

This is a debate of the tech only, nothing should be mentioned in this thread outside of this. Also all comments should be explained in detail ... but try and keep it at a level non techs can grasp. Only the methods upon which the anon features will function are of interest here.

The list i have so far. We can add more as more devs start making anon promises.

DRK
XC
MRO + the other clones of ring sigs.
CRY
PINK
CINNI

Cloak - seems different but would it work?

nxt? are they going to introduce anon options?

anon- does it have anon features yet?

From what we know so far, which will create anon transactions? to what level of anon?

advantages and disadvantages of all methods would be interesting to hear.

Let's have a well reasoned debate so all members of the board can get a deeper understanding of what each coin is promising, and if it is realistic they can deliver.

No shouting, screaming or statements lacking reasoning and logic based upon some facts/evidence.

For now i have a few of each of these, but where to go heavy is the question. The real techs seem to be favouring ringsig ones from what i read around on this board, however they are not without disadvantages also?

Let's hope after some real discussion we can get a better idea of which way things will go.
