Just to emphasize that the Anonymous account seems to be used only in the aftermaths of somebody asking @theymos for him to delete his account, especially in the earlier days, and not, as far as I can see, a feature request that would enable people to posts under an anonymous type of profile (as if most weren’t).

It does not really equate an Alt account. If fact, we can’t see ignored profiles anymore, and all post seem to be assigned to a fake user_id(u)=0 (mouse over the Ignore link of the Anonymous account in the first post here and see the UserId: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.208900). It’s also likely  that all Anonymous accounts have their posts assigned to this same 0 user_id, so you can’t tell one from the other apart.

And I think that's easier than requesting to mods.
Definitely easier, and I'd bet the mods don't get those kinds of requests that often.

I noticed the anonymous accounts last time I was reading through posts from 2010-11 (and I'd strongly advise anyone who hasn't browsed posts from the early days of the forum to do so--it's really interesting) but never thought anything of it.  You guys taught me something today!  Not that I'm super knowledgeable about bitcointalk machinations anyway, lol.  I've been an active member for years, and I still don't know how to do some of the basic stuff.

I agree that spams would increase, This might be the reason we don't have such feature.
Spam would increase exponentially, I could almost guarantee it.  I haven't seen any of those bots shilling testosterone or some weird product/service lately, but they were around a couple of years ago and probably still would be if that captcha hadn't been addded.  I'm not sure if that's the reason why you can't just post here anonymously anymore, but I can't imagine allowing that anymore.

theymos can change it to Anonymous. Maybe Cyrus can do it too.

Deleting accounts doesn't mess up any threads, like this thread. It just changes to anonymous, with no profile information. Post stays intact.

As you can see here, I only change the username to "Anonymous" on request.
Oh I see Thanks to this, I've cleared my mind up to this anonymous thing. Didn't have any idea that it's theymos doing this.

If such a feature would be implemented then I could almost guarantee that spam would just increase tenfold; as obviously it would just make their jobs a lot easier.
I agree that spams would increase, This might be the reason we don't have such feature. Also unregulated posts such as threat will come more often I think. So yeah we should just stick on the current account system.

"Anonymous" posting is an old trick.

Nowadays, people can just create alt account that is not associated with their main to make some drama of some sort towards other forum members. And I think that's easier than requesting to mods.

I guess both can doing that and changing any other Username also !
But there is a little trick with that Anonymous Username feat. when it was changed .
If the Topic or the post was edited once from the Account you can hover with the mouse over the Date and it shows you the real Username of the Account !

Here's an answer for that.

Technically, anonymous post does not exist. Deleted accounts change their username to Anonymous and become guest by default. And caused this confusion.

Edit: Someone posted above seconds faster lol. And yeah that's it.

Upon browsing very old threads and marketplace deals way back when this forum is launched. I've seen this first time in this forum, I never know that there is an option before to be anonymous as is.

I know that it's remove for various reasons and I speculate that it's removed due to inefficiency and to avoid outlaw post in this forum.
Will you agree if such feature were brought back to this forum?

I can see first time visitors, People who just have questions about his situation on crypto that don't want to create an account will be the one utilizing it. Instead of creating account for such single use and leaving it, They can use this anonymous feature.

I'm sure that this could be problematic since it attract spams in the forum but restricting them to post only into a newly created board such as [Anonymous posts](I imagine and invented the name) will sorta filter all those anonymous posts.
