Organised religion is inherently perverse and control seeking, completely at odds with liberty
Marry poverty with austere interpretations of faith, and you get the present clusterfuck

Since Muslims have been beheading, marauding, raping, and murdering for a thousand years, who here thinks they can be stopped any way but by death?

Why single out Muslims, the same can be said about Christians Huh All religions are mass mind control programs to parasitize and mobilize mass support for some sort of oligarchy, the same is true of the state.

Yes a despicable act of barbarism on an innocent victim, but what about all those who are killed by the drones and guided missiles sent by the US? Hardly surprising that this type of indiscriminate warfare being waged by the US will illicite the same indiscriminate response. If drone missiles and air strikes were being carried out on the US population they too would be lynching any person whom they could associate with the source whether they were friend or foe. Far from eradicating ISIS the US will create more radical recruits from the survivors who get caught up in this swamp of misery.

They are beheader evildooer terrists.

Of course it's horrible; what can you say except that.    It won't be the last, live and in living color.  It is their goal, apparently.  To terrorize, spectacularly.

This one is a mountaineering guide from France.  In retaliation for bombing ISIS.  The French minister says they will continue to bomb.

They usually pay the ransom. Good to see they broke from that bad habit.
Agreed.  Never pay the ransom.  I understand that probably looks very different when it's your child or wife/husband, but that's the only way it can be.

The family of that guy may disagree.
Personally, I don't. I think it's bad policy to negotiate with or give in in any way to terrorist demands.  Yes, I accept that it could and likely would cost lives of some hostages. And I am not without sympathy for them and their families. But I see no reason to be flippant about it. We need to fight terrorists and bring them to justice. And we need to make clear to them that taking hostages will not change our resolve.

Isis crisis: Algerian extremists 'behead' French hostage Hervé Gourdel over airstrikes in Iraq
A video placed online by an Algerian jihadist group linked to Isis appeared to show the beheading of Hervé Gourdel, who was kidnapped earlier this week in a mountainous region of Algeria.

French officials said they believed the video to be authentic but could not immediately confirm Mr Gourdel’s death. President François Hollande was expected to make a statement from the UN in New York tonight.

Earlier this week, Isis called for revenge killings of westerners – especially American and French citizens – after France joined the US and Arab states in air raids on jihadist forces. It was later revealed that Mr Gourdel had been seized by the Jund al-Khilafah, or Soldiers of the Caliphate, jihadist group while trekking in the Tizi Ouzou massif 110 kilometres east of Algiers.
