Yes I would likely not get the money back, the hosting company of the phishing site says I should take it up with "local authorities" haha.. our country Police system is so crooked and incompetent I doubt if they can send an email, left alone find a guy in another country. Luckily it wasn't so much, around $46 USD (Abour R615 ZAR) not thousands and thousands.

Here is the transaction as it happened in the blockchain for those interested, the 1JoRbo12GuWdbpaYM43p3U951ienJ8VEPt address was mine and the 16Rde9dnTC5nh2K7ycB7zLoi2avLitJq25 address is the crook who got it who then send it off to 1Lnkm3GFhYrNBkRWrSBSDdEMaSkdYJ2oya.
To the hackers out there, feel free to hack that 1Lnkm address and take the money if you can lol!
https://blockchain.info/address/16Rde9dnTC5nh2K7ycB7zLoi2avLitJq25

I just want to state again that I have nothing against the guys from www.bitmixer.io who does a great job, the phishing site is bitcoinmixer.io

try to contact the siteowners (although it does seem like an obvious scam site) ask them politely to return coins

Even if he finds their contact info and mail them these scammers will never return him the money.
I agree that the only thing he can do now is to warn others and try to expose this scam as much as he can before more people lose their money there, creating a thread here is a good start.

Bitcoinmixer.io is new to my knowledge and i don't see that nor using that either so i can't judge them by just single report only so better for him to contact support first amd wait for the reply and if he doesn't get any single reply well he can file scam report to warn others by using this kind of mixing site, and also people should be vigilant and should use those known mixing site so they can make sure that they are using the trustable site with legit operation.
And I don't think they will paying the money back...

seems the another part from this....
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2tmggn/bitcoinmixerinfo_warning_scam/
and changing their domain into .io

Thanks everyone. I did a WHOIS on the URL and contacted the company who seems to be hosting or relays it (Cloudflare) and they have now listed it as a phishing site. They wouldn't give me the details for the bastards who stole my bitcoins - guess it's more important for them to have a client who is paying his hosting fees. Anyways it now says "Warning: Suspected Phishing Site Ahead!" when someone opens the site. Hope it helps a future person who makes the silly mistake I made.

That's good idea but reporting to google also might help the chrome user because it will shown as harmful site if it's already reported on google and even the site will be deindexed in google.com

Sorry for your loss but thanks for creating this thread so that other will not make same mistake. Yes better to check url before dealing with any wallets, mixers, exchange platform. There are many fishing sites as well as fake sites similar to original site with quite similar domain name.

Sorry for your lost and thank you for the warning. Double checking on every site we visit is a must thing to do to avoid this kind of experiences.
There are so many people try to scam us in internet by creating similar sites to older/trusted site. We have been warned so many times, so be careful next time.

There's nothing you can do because the intention of the owner of the fake site does want to get bitcoin for free from one's own mistakes, let it go.

Yes, this is hacker/scammer's intention, they make this site for scamming, obvious a phshing site. The money is gone, OP should learn a lession.

OP, how much were you scammed?

People can learn not just from their own mistakes but also from others, this is just to be true that in reality this thing can happen so everyone should be aware of, there are people made mistakes to teach anybody.

don't be naive.
it is clearly a scam, because it is the exact copy of bitmixer.io they even copied the "Letter of Gaurentee" from an old date and are using that to make you believe it is real.

a new service like those two other mixers we see advertising on the forum which are also legit never copy the design! you copy when you want to use another legit service's background to scam others.

I don't see the site and i dont care about it so if you see that they copy the content and site background, stats and so on well that should be declared as scam really, and i don't care to look up for new services with no reputation and so for that we shouldn't used that service to avoid being victimized by their bad scheme.

Fraud making some innovative ways just to scam people and mixing services scam is not new and must be avoided thats why i advice others to used those operating legit one.

Just get wrong of typewriting the name of site and the impact will be large like this? contacting the scammer just waste a lot of your time and will be better for trying for earning your bitcoin again and making a warning thread for others.

find their hoster, send them abuse letter
create a topic in scam accusations thread:
screenshot your txid+link transactions
this would serve as a warning to others
and,of course pay attention to what are you typing in your address bar, there are too many fake sites nowadays

Despite the many many warnings that there are a ton of fake sites, in a hurry I typed bitcoinmixer.io instead of bitmixer.io and yea.. been scammed because of my own stupid mistake. Obviously one can only blame yourself.

So just another warning to all, when using this cool service (and I guess every other one) double check everything CAREFULLY. This fake site (bitcoinmixer.io) also produces a "Letter of Gaurentee" but it has APRIL dates in when we are in September already. Always double check everything and don't make the mistake I made. Hope the f#cknut enjous his 0.074 coins he scored and that Karma will sort him out.

By the way, I emailed bitmixer.io and they emailed me back within a few minutes - expressed how sorry they are for my loss (my own mistake) and so far I have been very happy with them.
