It's one thing that yahoo is ok about the plagiarism of the same rules for the campaign but it is another when we are talking about the rules here in the forum. Since they have copied a post even if it is partially  I think it would still qualify as plagiarism here in the forum and the campaign manager should be banned. Only problem if this happens really is the sig campaign for this project won't continue anymore since if they create a new account it would count towards ban evasion. It's the first time I am seeing this kind of case so I don't know how the mods will handle this since it's only rules we are talking about and literally anyone can have the same rules for their campaign.

Also i would like to add that if he has copy pasted the rules, he should implement them just as Yahoo do and select only the quality participants and also check the post quality.
I,m not judging SBOSS here or anything but do you really think that someone who was too lazy to set and write his own campaign rules and copy-pasted someone else's work can manage a sig campaign ptoperly and apply high standards!

Check all the campaign managers rules, they all are almost same.
yes, all campaigns have almost the same rules but here the rules were copied word for word. However, I don't think it's a ban-worthy offence.

Although this should never be done, no one should copy ans paste the campaign rules as other, it is more or less are same for almost all the campaigns. So, calling it as a plagiarism wouldn't be a good idea I think. Check all the campaign managers rules, they all are almost same.

Since yahoo62278 have no problem so there is no problem IMO, but this isn't appreciated. Copy paste word to word wouldn't be a wise decision, for this job a manager should ask original owner. I have remembered one of my client has created a signature which was similar of yahoo62278's campaign. So I had asked yahoo62278 and he had referred to signature designer. Eventually I was disagree to use that signature and team has created another new code. That's how should handle such as copy paste.

Also i would like to add that if he has copy pasted the rules, he should implement them just as Yahoo do and select only the quality participants and also check the post quality. If he is managed to do all this and come up with the same standards as of Manager Yahoo, then it will be appreciated by all of us.

Technically, the user should be banned for plagiarizing content, but usually those who get banned for plagiarism are the ones who try to earn from signature campaigns. This is to start a campaign in itself. Also, this has happened before and I don't know if anyone has gotten banned for plagiarizing the rules. Report the post and see what happens.

And yahoo has no say over the permaban itself, but it would have been sensible if they asked for Yahoo's permission and put a note saying so.
I think context has to be taken in these instances because the member is not trying to steal content and pass it off as their own which is what plagiarism is and that is what the plagiarism rule is there for to prevent people stealing other peoples work. Copying terms and conditions or using terms of services of other companies as a template is common and most companies use a template for this. I don't think the member should be banned and I don't think its too big of a deal for copying the rules.

For me, the only copied thing is the layout and how it was posted. That's the wrong part.

But for the rules, somehow it was in general even we say they used the same word.

Good thing, they are running a legit campaign, and payments were escrowed. Maybe just PM the manager there to make changes in their formatting.
You cant own a layout so how could it be wrong? I get why people are up in arms about this but we have to start taking responsibility and look to throw everyone who does something "wrong" under the bus. Its this mentality which has made some of the most useful members of the forum get tagged and get into lengthy debates with each other.

Hmm, Yes Yahoo doesn't mind using its rules.
In fact, I don't see anything criminal here, which is just as well.
A person may not quite know the rules of this forum and how to properly handle them, so I borrowed the rules from yahoo.
But he is wrong in one case, he did not ask yahoo about it as the Coolcryptovator said. And it was rude of him.

Plagiarism is when you steal content, but not in this case. I think it's better to close the topic and forget it.

Rules aren't really copyrighted or trademarked. Looks like either a newer manager or a company looking to run their own campaign and they used my rules as a guideline to go off of.

Most campaigns have quite a few of the same rules. I've used the same rules for the last 5 years pretty much, with a few tweaks here and there depending on the companies input. I'm not really upset if a company decides to copy my rules. I'd rather they pm me and ask if they're going to post word for word, but it's not required.

Other option is to just hire me and not worry about it  Grin

Is there any chances for Yahoo to grand permission to copy their terms and conditions. Even if it is copied for business purposes, forum rules allow under plagiarism guidelines? AFAIK plagiarism will lead to perma ban.
