Agreed. Functionally they work fine, but it's difficult to manage them when they reboot and the mining software can't find them. Both of them are repaired units. Perhaps something is not quite right with the hash boards and it's causing the firmware to reset. I know you can change a MAC address by loading a new firmware... It's acting like the firmware is reloaded each time it reboots.

If the MAC address changes something is horribly wrong

I have the exact same problem. I have 2 DR5s which factory reset with a new MAC address every reboot. I have tried static IP, address reservation in the router. Rebooting the router. Nothing. Every time these miners reboot, they get a new MAC address, delete all config data and fetch a different IP. I have loaded the 2019 and 2021 firmwares and have used the SD card firmware method.

They mine perfectly with no problems otherwise.

Thank you.
Now I bought two used control board, which were used in a T15.
when i installed the new control board, all the data from the previous owner was saved, even when i did a reboot.
When I then flashed the control board to the DR5 version, it started saving nothing again.
I have now also noticed that the area of cached is always at 0%, that is, nothing goes into the cache and therefore everything is always deleted.

In this case it will already be a firmware issue. Try contacting the manufacturer for if they have any information about this.

do you think it would help if i buy a new control board?

But can you change the control card?

If there is such a possibility, it might be an idea to test. It's strange that he changes the MAC address, it could even be a problem with the control board.

Edit:
for your information: everything is deleted after a reboot. also the password is root after a reboot

Is it possible to reinstall the original Antminer firmware?
This shouldn't happen, there may be a firmware error or the ROM is damaged.

thank you both.
yes, i can load a firmware, but after a reboot everything is resettet.

It seems it's reverting to factory default which suggests it can't load the config on boot. It might
be a HW fault or maybe just a corrupt config. Sorry I can't help you with the specifics for Antminer.

thank you very much. unfortunately i don't see how i can change the MAC address of the antminer with this tool. so how can i access the antminer with this tool?

and yes, the mac address changes with each reboot and thus also the ip, whereby the ip is not a problem.

i have read that the mac address can also be accessed and changed via /config/mac. unfortunately i don't know how to get to this folder. The DR5 does not have SSH.

But does it change the MAC address or is it the IP that changes?

Usually the MAC address is unique and never changes, as it is registered in the equipment's ROM.
What can happen is when the machine restarts, a new IP is generated and this can generate conflicts.

One way to solve this IP change issue is to set a fixed IP for the MAC address, on the router.

EDIT:
But if it's really the MAC address that changes, try this tool:
Technitium MAC Address Change
This is a tool that allows you to change the MAC Address, allowing you to replace the original MAC Address with one of our own.

Hello,
I have an antminer and it works very well so far. The MIning goes wonderfully.
Only I have one problem. When I reboot the miner, then it changes its Mac address and of course the IP. This is not a problem if I run it at home. But unfortunately I can't put it into a mining farm like this.
I've been in contact with Bitmain support for almost 2 weeks now, but slowly we're going in circles. I've sent them the logs 3 times now, which of course don't say anything special.
I have already flashed the miner with a file from Bitmain via the SD card, but that did nothing. just like a firmware update. Static IP does not work either, because after a reboot everything is deleted and the miner starts with a new Mac address. The pools are also always deleted.

Do any of you have an idea what to do? It is the Antminer DR5.

Thanks a lot
Mike

post in the correct section which is alt coin section not btc section.

I will ask to have it moved.

I do not mine with that miner I did find this

https://support.bitmain.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016228834-How-to-set-up-a-new-DR5

someone in alt coins may have 1 of them ..

good luck this will end up here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=160.0 this is the proper section for an alt coin miner
