The A1021 can also be made to be somewhat quiet.

But, in the end it's all going bigger / louder.

For the most part I think we (end users) an an afterthought. They want to sell to the big farms. And you really can't blame them. 1 big sale vs 250 little ones.
And then we get to pick over the remains or see what is out there on the secondary market.

The s15 set to low speed is almost okay sound wise.

and it does 18th at 900 watts.

I have played with whatsminer m10's on low speed  and pulled 1 board.

they are pretty good about 14th at 800 watts.

However I hold hope for braiins and the s17pro.

I also did a t17 at 30th and low watts pretty quiet also with aftermarket firmware.

The R4 was essentially 2 S9 boards rearranged for better (vertical) airflow. The scrolling fan its most distinct feature, i think makes a very good silent heat spreader for winter.

Unfortunately nobody else has shown interest in this concept, the living room miner.

Sure, you can always run a regular S9 at low power using Braiins OS (even using a single fan), but i think the wider aperture of the R4 makes for a better spreader. A shame, really.

I totally agree, it would have been nice to see another home miner on the market, instead of the "no brain farm" models that almost exclusivly exist on the market.

For the past several years all of the major miner manufacturers have shown zero interest in making small, quiet miners. Only Sidehack's R606 fits that category and it tops out at 1THs.

That said, Sidehack is working on a new faster (and still quiet) miner but so far has published no specs on it aside from having a target power consumption of around 500w vs the R606's sub-100w.

Do anyone know if there is any plans to make a new R4 (updated edition)? Loved the concept, hate that its just doing 8ths, although the effeciency isnt that bad. Its just too slow today.
