I haven't found an actual CFM spec on the fans but since they are 38mm fans with a max speed of 3600 it is probably around 200 cfm. Quiet fans won't be close to that. Might still work if the ambient is cool, but then again if the ambient is cool the stock fans slow down and are pretty quiet.

You probably need to relocate the miners, sad to say.

So I got a fan to test that has a maximum CFM of 85.6
Do you think that will be enough airflow?

Does anyone know what CFM the default fans do?

Thanks,

I put two fans on each miner one pushing one pulling you can get them in a 4pk for$15 on amazon they have 3 prong connectors but I just plugged them into the top three prongs of the boards 4 prong fan connectors and they seem to work fine.  Running 3 weeks so far overclocked and they are not overheating

Hi All,

I have 3 Antminer S1's running in conjunction and they are getting a bit loud
Unfortunately I have no where else to put them in a living area no matter where you go you can hear them

Has anyone successfully changed to fans that were quieter?
If so do they push the same airflow through as the stock ones?

A question as well I noticed both fan connections are the 4 PIN PWM type but the pins are quite close to the edge
I've been looking through a lot of fans and its very rare to find one with this connection.. even an adapter is hard to find

My second question would be if I just replaced the fans with a case fan (normal molex connection)
Would the unit freak out that it had no fans connected and not turn on?

Hopefully someone can  help

Thanks,

you won't want to hear this, but those stock fans move a shitload of air.

the poster right below you is wrong about the scythe fans they push 76 cfm at max speed and they will run at that speed most of the time.

if sound really means a lot buy the scythe fan and underclock to 300 freq.  that will make less hash but save power running cooler and the scythe fans will keep you gear quieter.

As connectors , here you are:

The unit does not care if you have connected a fan or not (but you will have no indication about rpm's).
It only cares if the temp goes so high that will get damaged.

You can try anything different than the stock, even pulse width modulated aftermarket ones.

If it does not rain, I would place it outside on the balcony, away from direct sunlight.
Keep blowing it with compressed air every 2 or three days to have it clean.
