S2 default ip is 192.168.1.99. You need to set your pc IP address to static address, example: 192.168.1.100 then plug the utp cable directly to S2 in order to access the configuration page.

Back at it again today -

I realize that I don't want to burn the unit out with the fan not working properly. I am just trying to get some kind of life from it and will power it off immediately. I am under the assumption that a second or two of running will not cause damage.

When I turn the unit on, there is no noise whatsoever. Is it known if I should be hearing some kind of noise although I can't connect to it (aside from the fan noise)? Wondering if maybe it is in some kind of dead stage?

Edit: Right after posting that message, I was able to get the fan going. Appears that the connection is a bit shoddy.. will have to see what I can do to remedy that. But still unable to find any kind of response from it on the network

I tried AngryIP and it doesn't seem to show any kind of conflicts.

In my router config, it shows 5 IP's - my laptop here, the printer, 2 phones and the DirecTV connection.

It shows the Ethernet connection has sent 4585 packets and received 170, which makes me think that the connection is working just fine.

Any ideas? Huh

Edit: It wouldn't let me put in a 2nd response, but I did try about every combination that I can think of regarding that darn reset button.. couldn't get anything to work yet.

also do you have an ipscanner? advanced ip or angry ip both are free for windows.

if you scan an find your ips for other gear you may see a conflict

maybe your router is 192.168.1.x

maybe your router is 192.168.2.x

maybe your router is 192.168.0.x

Sometimes it doesn't reset on the first attempt. With the power on, hold the reset button for 5 or 10 seconds then release, then turn the power off for 5 seconds then turn it back on. If that doesn't work, then with the power cord unplugged hold the reset button and plug it in while holding the reset button, then release the button, wait a minute then unplug it and plug it back in.

Good luck. If it is all working except the fan be careful running it, you don't want it to over heat! Although it shouldn't generate serious heat until it's hashing I would think. I have myself an S1 sitting on my desk I'm getting ready to fire up, too. Happy mining. Cool

Not sure if the fan is the only issue. I'll have to figure out how to reset the miner to see if I can get logged in. I'll do so after work if that may be the only issue here.

Is just the fan burnt out, or does the box not run at all? Can you access the S1 via its IP address? If it's just the fan not coming on you just need a new fan.

Hello,

I picked up a cheap S1 miner a while back and, with moving, haven't been able to set it up. This morning I plugged it in and I get lights on but that's it. No sound, no indication that it would have power sans lights. I messed with it a bit and after unplugging and plugging the network cable, I started to walk away and the fan started to kick on. It ran for about a minute (a bit noisy, maybe it is dying?) then the fan stopped, and it was back to before.

After some more tinking with it, the fan again acted like it wanted to run.. ran several very slow revolutions then stopped again.

Any recommendations on what to do? Is it likely that my fan is just bad, or is there more to it? I only played with it for about 20 minutes as I had to get going with my day, but couldn't get logged in either (the default IP may have been changed, I do not have a record of it).
