thanks for that
not sure about the gateway pointing to router address though

the ' gateway ' is your personal connection to the rest of the web ie router in your case.  Some of these miners reqire your router to have all IPs assigned after it to be stuff like 192.168.1.(unit) where (unit) is the pc/miner/tablet's personally assigned id on your local network.  Some routers allow you to ' always assign ' or ' reserve IP address ' for things like miners ( or if you have 1 web gaming pc, the one the world can attack since it is in the de-militarized zone and thus NEEDS to always have it's own IP).  With that kind of setting, you can set the miner to think it has a static IP and the router to always assign that ip to it.

longer explanation than the previous, and hope it helps.

When I got my first ant units, I kinda got stuck in getting them to work with DHCP... they could obtain an IP number from the router but never really mined anything...
Solution was actually simple: just use static IP. Type in all the numbers, including DNS server and voila, started mining in a sec.
You can use 8.8.8.8 - google's dns server.

I still dont get why they wouldn't just work with DHCP... but who cares, they've been mining theyr asses off for a few weeks now.

Perhaps its your solution aswell.

Cheers

new to this so sorry if im dumb
Ive setup my antminer as per tutorials but cant get it active on a pool
everything seems fine in the configuration
only thing I see different on some setups is how the pool user name is entered
I have weblogin:worker - should this be weblogin_worker?
do I have to change any settings on my router?
getting a bit frustrated with it now

I don't have an S1 but usually you use username_workername but you can try a pool that doesn't use usernames just your bitcoin address like http://www.eligius.st

No you don't have to do anything special on your router, if DHCP is enabled everything should work automatically, but make sure any gateway points to you routers internal address and you are on the same IP subnet. Just type IPCONFIG /ALL on a windows PC cmd.exe or accessories/command prompt and to see what IP numbers your PC uses.
