That is kind of like playing the lottery.  Your average time for that setup to find a block is a little more then a year at current difficulty.  You could find a block tomorrow or you might not find one ever.

P2P pool makes more sense for me.

Thanks for reply
Yeah I realize the luck factor just got bloody annoyed when I found a total of 3 blocks in the space of 9days whilst mining on ghash.io, so I though sod it - lets try solo.

Just wanted to know if that actually looks right and it is solo mining correctly
You found 3 blocks in 9 days, running just 180GH/s?

That's lucky. The opposite can occur too. I've been pool mining 24x7 for the last 11 months and have NEVER found a block.

I've had a pretty reasonable hash rate too since receiving my October 2013 Jupiter... and I'm currently at 3.1TH/s. So not a big miner, but not small fry either.

That is more then lucky, that is astronomical. He mined in 9 days what would be expected to mine in ~2.5 years.

I did hit 300+M whilst on bitsolo but that didnt get me a block, so that's what confused me regarding block awards..

Hopefully this answers your question. Eg, don't solo mine. Connect to the p2pool network properly, and enjoy.
thank you for pointing out the facts for him Smiley

Waste of money in my opinion.

Maybe a few months ago it would have been pretty profitable to mine solo but today, you're essentially praying (and paying power) that you can find a block before you could have earned a whole block's worth mining in a pool.  Number's game again. A 1TH operation will earns you about 1-2 full coins a month mining in a large pool like Ghash or BTC Guild where payouts are rather average.

Therefore, your 1TH needs to release 1 block every ~2 years only to break even on an average pool.  If you don't, you wasted around $10,000 worth of power, and two years later, considering you are around $0.10 per KW/h and actually considering you may not find nothing at all.  Too much of a risk IMO, if time isn't an issue then you may like a much smaller pool and P2Pool I believe pays a small portion to the block's finder.  You seriously have a better chance at killed by a police officer and mining a whole block in a reasonable time with anything less than 100TH.  That's why if you join a SMALL pool with 1TH, you get a much greater share of the block.  You just need to wait longer to get paid.

Also, usually smaller pools pay much better but don't pay out as often; but fees are higher.  The no fees pools doesn't necessarily mean best ROI, hash wisely, not because one pool pays faster and releases most blocks.  If anything, GHash and BTC Guild are only average payouts.  Patience is key in coin.

Looks like it's working correctly.

On a side note, geez 3 blocks in 9 days with 1TH/s - that's insane luck! Let's hope it continues with solo mining. Smiley

ads I hope my post was not thought to be negative in any way...I think it's awesome that you hit it that hard!

I'm just confused by the numbers because I suck at finding blocks (1+Ths for 4 months none found).  Like in your best share column it says 137M but the difficulty is way higher than that (I think that is what is prompting the alt-coin questions).

Hope your luck continues solo mining Smiley

Not at all..
I should have been a lot clearer.

I did hit 300+M whilst on bitsolo but that didnt get me a block, so that's what confused me regarding block awards..

The only thing I want to figure out now is how to mine FRC this way, it gets so far but keep getting the same error.

hmm you don't know if ghash was down and that found block was from another pool that was alive while ghash.io was down (ie an altcoin)

Nope ghash was not down, and as it's S1's they only mine at the pools I tell them to mine.

If you look in the last column headed LSTime. That gives the last time it connected to the pool.

The other two pools "NEVER" had a connection, hence zero Accepted, Rejects etc.

Are you like...100% certain that it was you who found those blocks....a block every three days with 180Ghs is an insane amount of luck.

as the OP says and further down (plus the images) I have 5 x Antminer S1's that comes to about 850Gh's.
When I went into the the webconsole for each of the miners 3 of them had found blocks, and I only had .ghash,io showing as live as my pools - heres a screen shot of one of them:

Interesting setup.  You're using p2pool locally with no connections to the network.  I'm assuming you've got bitcoind running on one machine and that's connected out to the internet, and p2pool running on another machine with no connectivity to the internet.  I've never seen it used this way, so I can't tell you explicitly whether or not you're properly solo mining.  Having written that, it certainly appears to be executing properly - the payouts look like a block reward, and the expected time to block of 12600 hours would seem to be pretty accurate for your 180GH/s.  You must have your very own share chain that is being created, with only your address having valid shares in it... the difficulty is silly low because the entire pool is 180GH/s.

Most people when they solo mine just point their miners to the bitcoind and have at it.  I like how you improvised and setup a p2pool network of 1 Smiley

The guide I used was found here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/antminer-s1-solomining-setupeasy-soloown-pool-setup-512042

Yes i have bitcoind running currently on the same pc as the p2pool, i was receiving a lot of problems due to not running everything as an admin inc cmd prompt.

The set up is 5 x s1 = 850+ghs and that was my concern was it doing what it was supposed to do, especially with the difficulty.

Hi all,

I've got 5x S1's currently setup to solo mine (I think) and I just wanted to check, that it is actually solo mining correctly.
