Power Consumption is nothing if you meet up your target ROI, you just need to balanced your time of maintenance
I prefer an own place for your Rig than a rented place to lessen expenses! and I prefer the batched 1 antminer S7
for speed efficiency  Tongue

And also come resell time far down the road it will carry a higher value.  So you pay more.... but in end it should sell for more on faster one.

I would tend to agree go for faster and more efficient one.   Likely if they fix what ever problem made the slower one future batches will just be the one that runs at spec.

Well I would highly Recommend the Faster ones, well you are right they will need to fix certain problems with slower
version of the S7, for a lower price but it is not highly capable of meeting the ROI that needed,

well I would stick to faster ones! or if the slower S7 is meeting the ROI needed it is highly to get more profit on faster ones!

Don't forget that Power Consumption is also dependant on the PSU efficiency. His efficiency would only need to be slightly less good than Bitmains assumed 93% to give that slightly higher reading.

I have just noticed that two batches of the antminer s7 have been released at the same time with the sipping dates being the same.

I also noticed that the price of the s7 has decreased to 7.01 btc compared with the previous 9 btc. Is there a reason for this £300 decrease?

There's not a whole lot of speculation to do about something we already know. With people that already have a S7, we can tell that many units have issues running at 600hz. Some other do fine at 575hz and some other even have problem doing 550hz.

So yes we're looking at something similar. So they just split the batch into their performance, i'm guessing they're keeping the sub 575hz, which that would be speculation. In short, If you want to know, read the S7 thread.

One thing interesting is bitmain showed S7 batch 2 (slow ones) running at 1160 watts (a lower watts then the batch 3).   But if you look at pcfli's selling of them with hosting he is reporting the slower one's are no better on electricity - https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.12603285

So that would be interesting if power used is same between batch 2 and 3.  There is something to speculate on Smiley.  If they will have it truly lower in batch 2 on watts used.

The way he talk about it, its like he get the same power consumption on both miner as if the efficient is lower on the lesser batch. I guess it would be good to go and ask him the efficiency of his PSU to be sure.

Antminer S7 has batch 1 and 2 machines, and I just compared the two, Batch 1 has a 4.86TH/S Speed while batch 2 has 4.66TH/S
well Batch 2 has a small specs than batch 1 well antminer S7 has many variant so miners can pick what's suits them best.

And you also ask why S7 decreased its price about £300 is because
The price of bitcoin mining machines must be adjusted frequently according to many factors, including BTC/USD exchange rate, the network difficulty, and expected difficulty increase.  Wink

Besides the price difference between the two batches, you'll also notice that batch 2 is rated at 4.66TH/s while batch 3 is 4.86TH/s.  Bitmain is probably running into the same kinds of issues it had with the S3... original specs had it at 504GH/s, which were later reduced to 478GH/s, but when batch 1 was launched, it was 441GH/s.  The S3+ was 453GH/s.  Those problems were directly related to DC2DC converter parts.  I haven't read the speculation threads on the S7 to know if it's a similar issue.  Thanks for pointing out the thread, Steve Wink.

Wasn't there already 'speculation' on this, pointing out the differences in claimed hash rates, among other?
