Anyone saying they got refunds, care to detail your interaction with WinterParker considering many of us can get no response?  Can you provide txids for the transaction to WP as well as returning from him?  Any evidence at all?

I can verify that after I sent him several PMs and e-mails he did refund my payment. My original payment of 1.15335 to WinterParker was in this transaction:

https://blockchain.info/tx/11bd45051c647b063ff6062d99727efc584c016ccb3dd492bebc042a234f614d
And my refund was in this one:
http://blockchain.info/tx/6580b18b27d7b9ecee45c045ae561ad04e79b8610a22491bba4c7bc80222e18f

I really hope he gets the rest of the refunds out. I understand that folks are cautious about revealing financial data, and especially their wallet address (if it's heavily reused). So I'm engaging in some transparency here. If others could confirm the BTC amount paid and refunded (if done), then maybe we could reconstruct some of the transactions. I strongly recommend that people apply trust to WinterParker based on the amount of BTC lost or refunded. I had placed negative trust up until I was refunded, this should play a part in encouraging him to process refunds for those who haven't received them, and provide a more accurate portrayal of his handling of our funds.

On the flip side, be glad none of us sent money directly to the scam BitMain website linked to from the official bitcoin.it wiki! Unless you did, in which case, I'm sorry!

Likewise, I got a PM from him and my refund showed up in my wallet! From his PM it sounds like rather than a scam, this may have been a legitimate mixup and just dropping the ball on us. Not excusing his actions, but it doesn't seem to have been intentional theft.

Thank you WinterParker for refunding my money, and I wish you better luck in future group buys!

I requested a refund from him on 3/24 and I still haven't gotten a reply or a refund.

Yeah, he needs to answer PM's, update his threads, refund everyone he took money from, etc., otherwise this is a scam and intentional theft.

I sent my request for refund on 3/21.. still nothing.  Just sent him another pm since people are stating they are getting refunds.

That's good to hear.  Do we have a status update on the delivery of the replacement miners, or are they still MIA?  I was holding on requesting a refund since I thought they would deliver.  At this point, all I want is a status update.

He mentioned that he had updated the main group buy page, but I don't see the update at the moment. What he sent me was as follows:

UPDATE #2 :

I am still waiting on the 2nd shipment, and I am very sorry about the non-communication.  I have already started giving refunds please send your payment transaction #, total amount paid, and a Bitcoin address where I can send you a refund.

Thanks,

WinterParker
Thanks for the info.  I really really hate leaving negative trust, so I'm glad to see he didn't just walk away.  Hopefully he'll post updates as a reply to this thread, so we can all get a watch notifications.

MODS, please lock this thread and mark it SCAM.

People, please! Winterparker is a scammer, at this point in time. He has taken people's btc and transferred it out to, presumably his own wallet, out of reach of groupbuy. Without any explanation. He fits the typical scammer profile.

I left negative trust for him as well.  If he does decide to crawl out from his hole and surprise us, then I will revise my feedback, but I will never trust him in the future again.

So in light of WinterParker's absence of communication either on this forum, via PM, or via e-mail. And due to the fact that he emptied the group buy wallet without explanation, and removed his e-mail address from his profile, I left him negative feedback trust on Bitcointalk, and recommend that the rest of us do likewise until we hear from him. I don't want to think that he's a crook, but I haven't heard otherwise, and it's been nearly 2 weeks since I have heard my last excuse from him.

WinterParker, please feel free to chime in and clear your name, and I will gladly remove my negative feedback for a refund or shipped hardware.

Likewise, I would strongly encourage people to be wary of CoinPal, which appears to be his company, and his publicly traded "stock":
http://coinpal.net/
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=525700.0;all
https://cryptostocks.com/securities/119

In retrospect I should have done more research, it appears that CoinPal was a scam too. Shoot, that's what I get for not doing my due diligence before ordering from a Full Member without any confirmed deliveries.

I've got multiple PM's out to him, he can answer any one of those.  Part of the BTC flowing into the payment account was mine as well, guess I've got to write that off as a capital gains loss for 2014. :/

According to your OP, no single person ordered 10+ U2s from you...

I would still like the units, but is there anything that you can do for us?

Except that you can see he received 3.51 BTC from the Group Buy, which is way more than the amounts listed above:

At least I see mine in there, despite it not showing up on the page here. Also, he emptied the payment wallet yesterday after having left it alone since the start of the group buy.

Tracking the outputs didn't do me any good, but someone should check. Has anyone requested and received their refund?

Looks like he updated the original post.  Seems he had shipping problems and had to send them back for replacement, but should get the new shipment by the end of the week.

Too little, too late.  He hasn't updated other threads, responded to PM's, etc., for a while now and quite frankly others have raised many reasons why not to trust right now.  Updating OP while not doing any of these other things doesn't give folks the warm fuzzies.

I'm starting an actual group buy here:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/closed-bitmain-u2-group-buy-ship-to-uscanadaintl-03029-btcea-528801

Yeah, neither group buy thread has had replies from WinterParker in them, and I have received no replies to PMs or e-mail despite a 1+ BTC order. I really should have used escrow, lesson learned, even if someone appears trustworthy and a member of the community for a long time, just use escrow. If you're listing WinterParker, your trust is on the line, and we would really appreciate it if you could maintain the lines of communication with us in both group buys. My name doesn't even show up on the U2 group buy page!

Yup, neither does mine and I paid in advance as well.  Not cool.  That's why I figure starting a no-risk until we're ordering group buy would be the next best thing.  Ahh, bitcointalk.

I have a question. If u had to choose between Antminer U1 and U2, which one will you buy and why? thanks
having owned mined and sold lots of u-1's  I don't see a big attraction to the u'2s for me uses.

why? I have  good cooling set in place.

if you don't mind fans I like the smaller u-1's

Gettin a little antsy, I was hoping to receive these before Sunday... as they are for gifts.
Hopefully they won't be belated. Let us know if you have any updated info on ETA.

Yeah, some of us are waiting for info on these and the GridSeed units. :/

Tell me about it. I'm okay with delivery delays, but if there's one thing people should have learned from Mt. Gox is the value of communication. I send some of these updates from my phone, surely even traveling he could keep us apprised of the situation, or better still, post the tracking information that he received.

I tested these out on a powered USB hub running CG miner 3.10.0

Used the standard CP210x_VCP_Windows driver

set it with  -S antminer:all --set-device antminer:clock=x0A81

After running about 24 hours Im getting 2.2Gh/s stable stable showing on
CGMINER and my pool.  I got about 5 HW errors in 24 hours so its running very
well at 2.2Gh/s.  So far so good with this mining for fun.

I have a small fan blowing past the erupters and the U2 runs WAY cooler than
the old 333Mh/s USB erupters.

For reference, what I'm looking at ordering is:
12 AntMiner S2s * .0380 = .456 + Shipping (Option 1) 0.00775 = 0.46375 BTC

Does that look correct?

Yes that looks right, please send me your Transaction ID # when after you send payment in.

Just checking in, haven't heard back from my payment and didn't see the my name added to the "paid" list, tomorrow's the 17th and so I'm concerned that I don't miss the cut-off. Could you confirm receipt of payment & that I'll make tomorrow's order WinterParker?

With Bitmain lowering the price to 13.9 BTC/500, is it likely that you'll get that passed on to you, and similarly, to us participating in the group buy? Also, when's the cutoff date for making the 3/17-3/20 order?

Can you put 9 of these in an Anker 9 port usb hub? I heard from somone that they couldn't put more than 4-6 in one USB hub and get it to hash together. Please let me know thanks.

It really depends on the usb hub.  The Anker can handle 9 I am 99% percent sure of it.  You need to get the higher amp Usb hubs in order to run on every port.

Is it possible to daisy chain usb hubs?

daisy chain usb hub does not work as well as tree setup.

use a four port hub and attach to four 10 port hubs   this works far better then,

pc usb jack>>>> 10 porthub to 10 porthub to 10 port hub to ten port hub.

since it seems these are the same as u-1's

you can do a tree setup.

you can do at least 1 daisy chain 10 to 10.

you can do do the 49 port hub.

But so far no one has  setup and tested 20 or 30 of these.   all the info I am saying is based on my u-1 setups.  I have run more then 50 sticks on one pc .   there is a limit in the u-1 ant miner pdf that says  130 or 140 gh is the max on one fork of cgminer. I passed that with two open cg miner runs to different pools on one pc I did 80 u-1 sticks 38 in one 49 port hub and 42 in the second 49 port hub.  opened cg miner and sent the first one to bit minter and sent the second open one to btcguild.

FYI I just got one today, after 20 minutes it gets to 2.06 Gh/s with clock=x0981, and it runs great with zero errors and zero rejects.

When I overclock to 0A18, which on the U1 is 2.2 Gh/s, after running for 20 minutes it only gets up to 2.12 Gh/s with 0 rejects and 5.41% error rate.

So, it seems like 2.0 Gh/s is the max you can expect with low error rate.

I haven't been able to find a user manual on the U2 yet however, and the clock parameters for overclocking may be totally different than what was used for the U1.

I have emailed Antmain about this but have not heard back yet.

Edited to add:

After 2 hours it's hashing at 2.063 Gh/s, with zero rejects and zero H/W errors.

Also, FYI my USB power is not an issue. I am getting my +5V from the molex connector of an ATX PSU at 32Amps.

could you try         262.50 MHz | 2100 MHs | 0A01 | 020 ms       for us on the U2s  its the clock for 2.1 gh/s  also there are know clock speeds for 2.05 and 2.15 if there is a finer limit to thier ablites

yeah maybe they can do 2.1 with little errors and no fan.

funny I wonder if holding the old ones may be a good idea.

the new heat sink is  so big. if you have the 49 port hub  you will only fit 28 or so sticks. while the one sticks can fit the full 49.  right now I have 30 old ones.  I will wait for some users on the new sticks to talk about them before I order some u-2s.

I have 30 ice fury sticks with bigger heat sinks they clock to 2.5 or 2.6 cost a lot more but I have had them since jan 1. I think I will hold them as they hash at a higher rate.

FYI I just got one today, after 20 minutes it gets to 2.06 Gh/s with clock=x0981, and it runs great with zero errors and zero rejects.

if you had a u-1 and a u-2 to compare  you could see if it has the same resistor controlling the voltage allowed to the chip.

Based on you tests so far I think it is the same.

which makes the older sticks better in one way the will fit on a tighter hub.
the newer sticks may not need fans.
So if  you have a choice of sticks some may prefer the new for the silence offered. Some may prefer the old for the smaller size.

The resistors are so tiny it's hard to see, however I heard back from Antmain and they say the overclock hardware mod is the same for the U1 and U2, so I guess that answers your question.

It would seem as if the only difference between the U1 and U2 is the heat sink, making the U2 stable at 2.0 Gh/s without a need for additional cooling.

They are actually 2gh stock stable out of the box.

Thanks for clearing that up, yeah i didn't want to over estimate it.

They are actually 2gh stock stable out of the box.
will they overclock further or is the hardware limited by fixed voltage like the u1?

They are software overclockable.

Up to how much gh/s?

Have not tested one yet, been very busy with the Austin conference and everything.

Is this USA only? What is the max hashrate you can get without using heat sinks?

Its looking like 1.6 - 2 GHs stable.

Very likely that I will buy 5-11 units, shipped to Ontario, Canada.

any idea what they overclock to? It seems like bitmain saw that everyone clocked 1.6->2.0GH on the U1, so they hopefully beefed up the voltage a bit on this to allow it clocking towards 2.4-2.6GH

I haven't been able to test the new U2 yet, I don't think I have seen an anyone write about the OC limitations & advanced specs as far as i know.  However I believe they will have same overclock potential as the U1, but less power hungry.  Well that's what we all hope!

thats the key if they did not swap out the resistor your max clock will be 2 or maybe 2.2

I have 20 of the old ones coming on sat.
I want to see a new one clocked to 2.4 or 2.6 which means the resistor needs to be swapped and it means you need a good hub.

It may turn out that the older model is better then the new one.

Thats true, you might not have enough amperage from most USB 2.0 ports to go far past 2GH.   However, USB 3.0 ports should be capable of 5W (~2.8GH)

UPDATE :

Hello ladies & gentlemen I am very sorry but I will need to refund your BTC unless you can wait for another week.  When I received the Antminer Package I noticed a puncture on the box and the inside and outside were wet, many of the units were exposed so I touched base with the Manufacturer.  Bitmain said to return all of them for a full replacement so that is what I did.

Whomever wants a refund please PM me the address to send the payment to and your Transaction ID from original payment.  For those who can wait I will see what I can do to possibly get you an extra free if you ordered 10 or more originally.

I am really sorry to have you tied up waiting for these, I am disappointed as well.

Thank you for your patience and I hope you can forgive me.

For those who want to wait I should have the new package by the end of the week they said.

Thanks,

WinterParker
