Okay, the problem was the power to the usb hub. I had the hub plugged into a surge protector (& a nice one at that), but when I switched it to the wall directly, everything worked.

Just in case anybody ever has the same problem.

Let me correct that: sometimes windows will pick up both antminers on  the hub. Often, it's only one of them. However, if I plug the antminers directly into my windows machine, BFGminer always picks up both.

Okay, so like many posters around here, I am brand new to mining. I thought it'd be fun to see how everything works. I have 2 Antminer U2s, and a powered USB hub. On windows I'm currently using BFGminer 3.10.0 with the Antminers plugged into the hub. When I run it, I both Antminers hash madly away.

I also have a BeagleBone Black, so I wanted to get it to work as a low power controller. I installed Ubuntu 13.10 on it and then got BFGminer 3.10.0 to compile on it. When I plug one of the antminers into the USB port on the BBB, BFGminer works fine and I hash right about at the advertised 2Gh.

When I plug one or both of the AntMiners into the hub (same hub I was using on windows) BFGminer cannot find either of them. Ubuntu can't seem to find them either. when I use lsusb, I see the two built in USB buses as well as my powered hub, but no Antminers. To see if it was something wrong with the hub, I plugged in a thumbdrive to one of the empty ports on the hub and rebooted the BBB. This time the BBB could detect the hub and the thumbdrive plugged into it, but still no Antminers.

Just for kicks, I tried it all again on another powered hub, with the same results.

Is there something I'm doing wrong? Are both my hubs crap? What else can I try to fix the issue?
