Indeed, my 8.0THs R4B2 has been running just fine since day one.  My 8.7THs R4B4 is sick with one board down and will be sent out for repair after the CNY, so for now it sits in a DC chugging away at 1/2 speed...  Tongue

I wiuldnt say it affects the failure rate. They have just grouped together chips that perform in a similar range. Some chips might perform better at high freqs and some lower but it is not a reflection on the quality of them. The failure rate would most likely be the same regardless of specified hashrate.

Hi, this has caused me some confusion...
Bitmain released the R4 batch 5 and batch 6 with different hash rate of 7.5th/s (batch 5) and 8.7th/s (batch 6).
My conclusion is that the chips in the 7.5th/s (batch 5) are lower quality so they hash at a lower rate? Is that the reason? In other words if you have a a choice of 2 S9's 1 of 12th/s and 1 of 14th/s the one with 14th/s would have a lower failure rate?
Thanks
