Wirex are talking about launching in the US but that was quite some time ago with no sign of it yet. They're not cheap either.

I find it a bit weird that Bitpay is acting like everything's still great when the card is slowly being squeezed to death.

for USA residents, there aren't many options now that shift (previously partnered with coinbase) shut down operations. according to this article from a couple months ago, bitpay was the only real alternative to shift for USA residents:

The move leaves the U.S. Shift customers in 46 states with only one reliable option, the Bitpay Visa card. Although there are other lesser known card operations in the works, none of them are worth discussing because some of the projects lack a physical card right now and others haven’t been around long enough to be reviewed.

if bitpay is really out of the picture, i'd use a reputable exchange. that seems much safer than dealing with a dodgy new debit card issuer.

i personally use coinbase pro---deposit coins, limit sell at current price, then free ACH withdrawal to your bank account. gemini is also reputable with fast withdrawals but fees are higher and you need a REAL ID compliant ID to pass their KYC.

UI/UX for both the app and the website are very bad, but paycent seems to be the only one that supports the U.S right now since Shift card stopped operating as well.

Block halving is coming.
Bitpay temporary locked the cashout option but I think they reenable the cashout option because they release withdrawal limit recently in their support from here https://support.bitpay.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003013586-What-are-the-ATM-withdrawal-limits-on-my-Card-

Anyway, there are some Debit/Credit card alternative for bitpay you can check them here Bitcoin Debit Cards (updated March 20, 2019)

Personal text my ass....
I get paid sometimes in Bitcoin. And the more jobs I take and the more I work the more I need to cash out. Recently I used Bitpay to transfer the BTC to their wallet and then add it to their VISA card which I just went to the ATM to pull out the cash. They recently stopped ALL cash pull out services and the only thing you can do with the card is purchases, no cash out options at all. This is pretty much useless to me now but trying to find ONE company that lets US citizens use Bitcoin to cash out somehow has been impossible to find. Been around BTC for a while and it is not what I thought it would be or even close to what it should be.
