That is petty lucky if you can repeat this every 8 weeks.  2  months is a while to run them.
Where do you sell them at?  Is there fee's like ebay?

Yes on average 8 weeks and I normally generate reasonable btc in that time. Sales come from ebay and similar markets. Fees are ok, you gotta spend money to make money.
The real annoyance is the maintenance and driving around. I might drive out to the mine just to power cycle a miner, or swap a PSU (this happens a lot) or install new miners which usually takes some time to configure.
I might drive back to where ever I came from only to find something got sold so I then have to drive back out again the next day.
By far the worst is missing a delivery of new miners and then having to wait a few more days for them to get returned or drive to the delivery depo which is always no where near the mine..

Typically I buy, mine and sell all in a 8 week rotation, also never selling for less than I paid and typically making profit on the sales to cover the electricity costs involved in operating.
Through the cycle I could have anywhere from 1-10TH and normally only small form factor as they're easy to ship. I've had lots of miners including models like R5', S3, S3+ and the S5.
If I was to recommend one, I definitely recommend the S5, presently I'm getting around 0.01 btc per day per unit. They're a lot noisier than then the predecessors but quieter than SP's.

If you head over to zoomhash, they actually have quite a few used miners at forum prices.

And you can use your credit card. Also you mention spoondoolies, they actually have a partner for cloudmining if you want to dive that since most of their miners come from SP which they also get constantly mentioned.

Spot rentals on nicehash  or westhash  can work if  your power cost too high.-----Sadly for most of us our power cost is too high.

As for a good miner to buy at this exact moment the answer is all are overpriced.

You can only buy a used  bitmaintech antminer s-3 miner if  you power cost is 5 cents or less a kwatt. plus you need a good psu on hand.

S-5
sp20
sp30
sp31
avalon 4.1 all cost too much

A used s-4 if your power is 5 cents   a kwatt is okay

My vote is underclocked S1's that you get for free or for a couple bucks a unit with low cost power.

If you pay for electricity I would stay away from S1 just getting to be old tech.  If cheap electricity look into S3's.

And if higher electricity look even newer machines.

It is not true. Maybe only for people with very expensive elektricity.

what is expensive electricity from your perspective? (also please keep in mind, that mining "cost" space, some kind of ventilation/AC, securing the space, firehazard and maintanence)

I'm paying 0.2$ and believe or not for any moment in last 3 years buying BTC was always better then mining (except avalon b1 as I mentioned above). mining is cool for geeks and tech guys..instead of running home server, they are also "mining" bitcoin, omg it is so cool, money machine, check how it is blinking blue and green here...aaa..

in reality, it cost lot of time, effort, nerves..and as a result you will realise, that easier and safer is just buy bitcoins. and yes, I mined bitcoins maybe before you even known that bitcoin exists..

you should not mine if your electricity is above 0.1 imho, better to buy directly bitcoin, or investing in something else and buy indirectly bitcoin in a second moment

it must be pointed that some miners, are mining not only for the profit but to secure the network also(their are not all nerd looking for a quick buck...), the profit is just their reward

Your 0,2$ is high price, I'm paying at home around 0,081USD/1kWh and in winter I saved some costs for heating.

+1 i came to the same conclusion after evaluating the Market.

except one moment, when some lucky guys received fancy avalon batch1 units, there always was better option to buy BTC instead of ANY mining eq. btw:)

No at this stage 'decent' doesn't exist. None ROI unless you get a really undervalued unit and given the rates for electricity for home miner are not viable the option for anything providing you a 'decent' return on the investment is null. Avoid AVALON way overpriced that be the worst of the 3 suggested.

Buy bitcoin best option.

Bitmain, SP used, Avalon are the three I can think of.   It really depends on your electricity and what your looking for.

If you have very low electricity some used units might be best.  High electricity more efficient comes into play.

Since SP are pretty much going to be self mining, is there any decent mining companies out there?

Thanks Huh
